Thanks for making this video. I’m having a greenhouse built and was concerned about the inside getting too hot. I had no idea shade cloth existed. After watching this video, i ordered some from Amazon. I appreciate your tips!
I live in spain heat here all day from morning to 9.30 there is sun at the moment i put a 60% one i had a 40% before and mesured the lumins seems like there is decent light inside my greenhouse cause it gets light all day sun here its all day and intense in summer so i will try and see how it works out for me i plant medicinal plants so they need sun i use 2 fans also the girls look happy to be honest temp at the moment are 26 to 28.5 at the moment with good air flow in july august maybe it can go up a little more
Works everywhere except Arizona! Especially with black shade cloth because it's a heat magnet which kinda defeats the purpose of installing one in the first place. Here, we just want to make use of the sun's light without so much of its heat... Today, when it was 90 outside, it was 104 inside the greenhouse. And that's with the use of a 50% white poly shade cloth and a 70% tan poly shade cloth!! It was that hot today and every day for the past few weeks!
I am in Arkansas now where the humidity is high. I was in NM with the same temps you are talking about. The shade cloth is only one of the three cooling tools. (black actually absorbs the heat before it gets into the greenhouse if you are using double poly) Evaporative cooling with enough exhaust fan cfm works way better in NM and AZ. Circulation fans and placement is the third.
Just curious - did you put your shade cloth inside or outside the greenhouse envelope? If placed inside, then shade cloth will actually increase the temp. If you place it outside, the conversion of light to heat should take place outside the envelope instead of inside resulting in a reduction of indoor temperature.. though now you have me thinking about infrared radiating off the bottom of the shade cloth. I wonder if they make greenhouse film that blocks infrared?
I would imagine that installing a shade cloth on a greenhouse, beyond creating the right shade of light for the plants you are choosing to grow, could directly impact the internal temperature of the greenhouse? If so, how much of an impact do you think installing that would make? I'm currently looking at alternative ways of cooling a growing room and/or greenhouse without using an air-conditioned of all things.
@Collin K I live in AZ and it gets hot here way before summer even starts! My solution has been to create microclimates by hanging many shade cloths as canopies of varying strengths and heights to simulate nature. I have a small tunnel and I zip-tied a few sticks of 2" schedule 40 PVC pipe to the adjacent fence and used them to secure my canopies with paracord. By using smaller pieces of shade cloth and hanging them just a little loosely they are allowed to wave around in the breeze... by hanging them all close to each other they work like a Beduine's tent keeping the area cool by allowing airflow through its many layers. It's also the same way that Arab's clothing works! Now, we tend to look at them and think how the hell can they wear so much clothing when it's so dang hot?! Well, Collin, that's how! The airflow between the layers separates the temperatures between them so that above the cloth is one temperature and below it is another.
Hi i would like to ask you some question 1. Can we make this kind of tent to do pottery workshop ? 2.will it be so hot inside in summer with temperature 35-40 degrees? In this case, if we use air coolers will it help to use this space as pottery studio sir??
Then again... I live in a temperate or tropic climate...(Hardly any winter ) Mostly very hot temperatures....I would die with a sealed area of that type....So guess it definately depends on your climate . But I enjoyed watching and learning from this info..... Thank You
Those evaporative coolers are interesting. I live in western South Dakota. Do you think it would be effective in an arid environment or would I be refilling water constantly?

All that info has really helped ....thankyou sir. 😊

Looking good 👍👍👍

10 -15 degrees on average.
What size shade cloth do you have on that greenhouse?

Why don't you just use SHADE CLOTH....? No plastic.

Most effective with lower humidity. Yes, will use a bit of water, but way less expensive than any other A/C.
Hi
for the nutrient solution, can i use the npk used by farmers?
(sorry for my english i am using a translator)
Only if it is water solulable, and do not over due it to avoid burning up your plants.
@@greenhousesolutions1074 ok thanks 😊
Why did you choose not to shade the end walls?
Not needed. Tried it and it did not matter, so no reason to spend the extra money. Thanks
What are those clips?
They are actually shade cloth clips. Usually come with or ordered with your shade cloth.
You can buy them at big box stores. They are also used for tarps. They work great
Would you have an opinion on installing the 30% shade cloth "underneath" the clear film?
Under the poly would not be as efficient. The full sun is still heating the poly. Would have some cooling but not as much.
Thanks
Thank you for sharing. Sometimes I can't hear what you say, the music is too loud.
Nice
What size shade cloth do I need for my 18x36?
26' x 36' - give me a call.
We have some here.
I'm in leave me alone or pay me my money so I can exit stage right.
