Not sure how come you could play this song without the English subtitles. It is ABSOLUTELY crucial, when listening to Stromae, to have the lyrics on. It's bad enough that you will unfortunately lose the subtlety and cleverness of the words (play on words and on meanings) because it's hard to reproduce them in a translation. But at least you'll get the meaning, which is very powerful in Stromae's song. He usually has dark lyrics in direct contrast with the upbeat music. One of the best lines in this song (which means "dad where are you" and is told from the point of view of a child trying to understand why his father is absent) is: "everyone knows how to make babies, but no one knows how to make daddies". A heartbreaking line that sums up the profound hurt and the questions the boy is longing to find answers to. You have found an exceptional artist, one of the very best in his generation. Enjoy!
For some reason, the program we use to download videos brought in the lyrics with the first download, but then froze halfway through us watching it. Then, when we downloaded again, it wouldn't bring the cc with it. Just the strangest thing. Thank you so much for watching with us and for sharing all this important information.
Stromae (put the subtitles on the official videos and search in the settings, the auto-translation to have it in English): “Tous les mêmes,” “Formidable (ceci n'est pas une leçon)”, “Stromae chante « L'Enfer » dans le 20H de TF1,” “Santé” and so many more… You'll be amazed by his talent.
@@grandparentsreact All the videos mentioned have French subtitles. Activate them by the icon. After, click the video window settings. Then, click “subtitles” in the menu ⇾ “French” ⇾ “auto-translate,” and in the drop-down list, look for the language into which you want to translate the subtitles. The video “Stromae sings “L’Enfer” at 8 p.m. on TF1” is, in fact, the video “L’enfer (Live Performance)” offered on Stromae’s YT channel (I made a mistake when I wrote the title). You should know that the performance actually took place live at 8 p.m. on the set of the French channel TF1’s television news, which is the most-watched television news in Europe. The interview with the singer starts like any interview, and then… 🤨🙂
Thank you so much for watching! I was shocked to see my name scrolling on the screen. If you like the sounds of Stromae, you might try a couple others that he has written. By the way, in case you didn't know, the mannequin dad in this video is actually Stromae. Most of his music has some deep meaning, which I really enjoy. I love L'enfir, Sante, Formidable, Cancer, Alors on danse among s few others. He doesn't have tons of music out, but what he has is very catchy and meaningful.
Thank you so much for introducing us to Stromae, and thank you for sharing this information. That was a super cool video. We have added your other recommendations to our list.
