- In this Video, I go through why True Geordie and Laurence McKenna split up and no longer make content together after years of working together.
DISCLAIMER: This is all speculation, they haven’t spoken about why they have left publicly
I get why people don't like Laurence, but I always found him funny and a good balance to Brian, gave some of the funniest moments when they would argue with eachother or just bully eachother
Lawrence is two faced and someone not to be trusted just saying
Glad they parted ways, Lawrence was annoying, pretentious, condescending... he was good at production but should have had an off screen role. I don't know anyone who liked him apart from Bryan.

Lawrence always came across as smug and thought himself a lot smarter than he actually is. He'd quite often say something to sound smart but be incorrect then rephrase what he said to be correct instead of just accepting he was wrong. Can't quite put my finger on why but I never liked him from the start and always felt he wasn't genuine.

Lawrence in a sticky situation with his wife being a muslim, had to take a step down. I'm sure they just mutually decided they had to part and keep it peaceful.
Simply put, that Laurence guy was fake af. He wasn't genuine. Brian is doing even better alone. Both his channels are doing well.
I think his content has gotten better tbh.
The Kick off seems more like a debate now rather than people constantly arguing over their own biases.

Laurence was way sarcastic and way ahead of the others. He was always one step ahead of them with his humour. He was that kid in school who everyone hated because because he was geeky or always had a sarcastic comeback. Never screamed or shouted, just had that cheeky grin......
Yeah, the guy that everyone would gladly chin in an instant due to how annoying he is.
I could never stand Lawrence. He would always make these snide, sarcastic comments all the time which he would pass off as humour.

I much prefer The Kick Off now with the new panel. The old cast was very toxic and not enjoyable to watch.
Never understood what Geordie saw in Laurence. Incredibly annoying guy. He legitimately ruined the podcast they did with Louis Theroux with his terrible attempts at being funny. The Kick Off is way better now he's not on it.

Laurence contantly pushed a wet blanket political narrative and had a massive ego. Brian can be a bit of a cock but at least hes honest, genuine and a straight shooter
To be honest I thought the whole true Gordie controversy was seriously blow out of proportion it was a simple comment it was just because it was a joke about a certain group you can’t joke about because they literally flip there lid but also I felt that a lot of Andrew tates followers jump on him as well as Tate played the victim card as well
You don’t make fun of any groups of people, also you don’t tell people how to react for your actions. Some groups are more forgiving, others are not. And it’s their right as the retaliators to respond however they want to an attack.

Bare in mind Lawrence mocked Christianity countless times and that's ok.

Brian's got a good heart. Says it how it is. A realist. Lands himself in controversey because of it. As a huge fan of Brian's channel, I always felt Laurence & Brian would part ways. It was kind of inevitable. Let's face it, there's a lot of egos in one room, but it makes for great content. With Brian getting cancelled, they probably lost a tonne of sponsorships. It's only now that Brian's videos are much more laid-back, and not littered with sarcastic comments. I kind of prefer it. I think Laurence is a good person as well, but there's a lot of value in disassociating himself from the controversies. Laurence also found himself in controversey with that charity match, when Jackmate called him out and frankly, Jack was in his right to do that. My personal belief is they had a mutal discussion saying they would both part ways for now. I wish them both luck for the future. But the Kick Off folks I believe jumped at the first opportunity to create their own podcast. It's just unknown if any of them reached out to Brian.

Yeah, the main rumour is that the other guys felt TG was too much of an unreliability in attracting sponsors, and they could no longer take the long term risk; Lawrence jumped ship also. Let's not forget that many of these guys and gals have to put loyalty and protection of their families before sentimental past friendships.

Great video, I really like your accent haha, reminds me of Zayn Malik. Anyway, I kind of knew they were both not gonna last; I watched some old podcast of them (the one titled with a tree or something) and towards the end, a political issue came up where it was clear that Brian was conservative leaning and Laurence was far left. They clashed there and I knew this was just the tip of the iceberg.
I like their old podcasts together, I think they balance each other out quite well, but you known nothing lasts forever.
I also watched another interview where Laurence “explained” his departure, it was literally 1,5 hours talk of nothing? Like he talked so much, yet didn’t really say anything worthwhile. Idk, I’m definitely leaning towards Brian.

I always assumed the same thing. Laurence quit for his wife and her family because it hurt them a lot. Personally, I wouldn't leave a friend for that reason. People make mistakes and the one person you should be able to understand standing by a person when they're wrong is their close circle. Having said that, maybe the whole thing just killed their vibe. Maybe Laurence still sees Brian as a mate but the issue ruined their chemistry.
