Video Produced by Paul Dinning - Wildlife in Cornwall - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини
Hi, I Googled Goldfinches and this is where I ended up.. I have recently seen goldfinches in my garden for the first time in 20 years! I put up a feeder, sunflower hearts and mealworm mix and I have pairing black birds, robins, wood pigeons, doves, blue tits, coal tits, and now goldfinches... They look so beautiful.. Little red faces.. How the pair I see, fly together.. Harmony, balance, togetherness.. I am truly blessed to experience their interactions and song!

I love the goldfinches! They are common in Finland as well.
Mariameow Thank you, I didn't know they lived so far north.
Just wonderful! Would love to know what type of seeds you put out for them to enjoy. Will transplant a troublesome thistle growing in my vegetable patch and pot it up for them to enjoy this season.
Christine Rumph Thank you Christine. I mainly put out out sunflower hearts for the birds.
Excellent footage. Very relaxing to watch. Thanks for upload

TheNeoton My pleasure my friend. Thank you for watching. Have a great day ~ Paul
The best thing you can get to get goldfinches to come to your feeder is buy sunflower kernels that are already shelled and tons of Niger Thistle. Where I just moved from we had none no one had ever seen a yellow bird before in the area. By the time I moved in a year there was at least 60 coming to the backyard and 30 never leaving the feeder I had to get jumbo 20 Port Nyjer thistle feeders
The most beautiful birds, colors.
Grainne Hayes Thank you very much for watching :-)

This beautiful bird lives mainly by the coast in north Africa and south Europe, and some parts of the middle east. I love goldfinch bird. Anyway, around 22 min, it looks that the strange sound does not belong to this bird.?

Hi, Paul
What do the birds like in dandelions? I could see for nesting, but I was told that even Hummingbirds will go to them. Do they have a nectar? Thanks
Paul, prachtige mooie beelden..maar de drinkbakjes zijn te diep zodat de vogels zich niet durven[of kunnen]baden:een beetje grind op de bodem en het is PERFECT!
they are a beautiful bird I keep them for the song

I wrote today and said those are really lovely pictures. I heard a cock crow in the distance. Did you get it? That reminds me of my boyhood. You must have had a nest in your garden because there were a couple of juveniles at the bird bath. Did you get pics of the nest, Paul. I want so much to get back to England to live.
Donald Edward I didn't get any video of the nest Donald. I think it was in the trees behind our house but too high up for me to film. Have you lived in England before ?
Paul Dinning Born and bred in the home counties and went to school in Cambridgeshire. You likely know the American goldfinch is not nearly attractive as ours and it is really a sparrow. The American robin too is not a robin but is a kind of thrush. But like the English robin likes to nest close to human habitations. I had a nest in a yew next to my front door this spring and a neighbour has had a pair of robins raise a family under the patio roof for several years.
Donald Edward Yes I've seen videos of the American goldfinch and robin, both lovely birds but I think our English ones are prettier. I do like the American cardinal though...that is a beautiful bird.
Paul Dinning I agree and a welcome sight in winter even in urban environments. I also like to spot the Baltimore Oriole which can usually be seen in old orchards in spring and summer.
Yes,the Goldfinch is one of my favorite British birds. They visit my garden regularly to feed on niger seed I put out for then, they love these seeds and I would recommend them to anyone wishing to attract these birds into their garden.
The collective noun for a flock of goldfinches is a "charm" Which is rather appropriate for these attractive little birds.
