Well a teeny-tiny "Scops Owl" to be more specific, and this isn’t just any ordinary owl folks… "Tiny” as she is appropriately named is actually a foster parent for other owls at a sanctuary in South Africa called “The Caring Owl.” That’s right Tiny actually nurtures baby owlets who have lost their parents so they can grow and be rereleased back into the wild…how AWESOME is that?!

I think the finger pecking is due to her being fed by hand (like Coyote does later on). She's learned to associate approaching human hands with being given food :P.
@@GaldirEonai to owls our hands look like talons, when an owl touches something with its talons it either wants to sit on it, or kill it, so owls instinctively fear and hate fingers, even if they realise the human doesn't want to hurt them.
They don't actually peck at something when they think it actually wants to hurt them though, their big eyes are delicate so they keep their heads as far from danger as possible, not even biting prey till they think it's dead, so when an owl does bring its face close to another living being it wants to preen it, which is a sign of trust and affection.
If an owls been imprinted on humans and raised by hand they can learn to trust humans enough to allow it though, and can even enjoy head scritches.

Watch Yoll the owl, you'll melt with the dust bunnies like baby owls video. Which they were gotten for conditioning and Yolls cute its mine squeals. Yoll's owner is a trained bird of prey specialist and Yoll has a precondition that causes her to get Pneuomia easily, thus cant be released and needs constant care. Just a heads up so not to judge the owner. But its constant cute big owl 24/7.😉

I did not know an owl could be that cute. The big eyes blinking. Awesome.
When I was a young teenager my father would bring home some owls that were injured and we would help them to get ready to return back into the wild but some wouldn't leave and would be happy to stay with us for a few months before we took them out to be released . We have helped several different animals that was injured and each one of them we helped to go back to the wild . We never wanted to do more than rehabilitate them and then release them and take watch what they did when they did as they were released .
They might be tiny but if you have ten of these they will combine to form a massive battle owl like in those anime

You should do an episode on burrowing owls. They are unique because they aren't nocturnal and actually don't burrow but use burrows abandoned by other creatures like prairie dogs. Also they are really tiny too 19-28 cm.
