Imagine if they closed Heathrow to do this, the worlds air travel would fall apart
It's Me not fall apart just extremely annoyed people
Hardrive33 VERY annoyed people
I SAW THAT IN MY HOUSE AND IT'S SIICCKK!!!
Son, I am disappoint.
No one said "Gentlemen...blow up your balloons!" then start them off with a pistol shot.
Looks stunning! Great job by all at London City Airport to make the event happen and at the Londonist team to make this video a reality. Congrats guys :)
I will edit my comment.
London City Airport!!!
that swinging in the balloons looks like a fair ground ride
Flying a drone over an airport - now that's a rare privilege!
That was beautiful. Thank you for posting. The Don looks absolutely beautiful in the early morning light. Made my heart sing!!!.
That pilot is so dope
Brilliant! Thanks for that, looked like a wonderful trip!
Gratitious overground shot...
How the hell did I miss this I live right by the Thames near Woolwich x.x was this this morning? I was on the DLR at around 7:30 yesterday shame it wasn't on a weekday
Tumaini Tiger he said a Sunday morning at the end, so I'd guess not.
George Jordan ah right lol
Tumaini Tiger was about 3 weeks ago on 10th. I saw them when I set out on my bike ride 👍🏻
richard wager damnit I might have been in Farnborough then on the only weekend for years as well lol talk about bad timing, must have been awesome seeing them over London
Something happened to terminal four. Taking a runway for an hot air balloon, cool.
Awesome. Just awesome.
Way cool!
Thanks for including my timelapse! A shame that last balloon didn't get off the ground though.
What happens if you land on private property or a field without consent?
No such thing as trespassing in the UK..
Not in the criminal code... also an act of necessity is a legal defense in a civil case.
They clear up and leave fairly quickly. The field they landed in had been harvested so no damage done. Famers have better things to do than sue balloonists!
Not from London, but familiar with the London City airport area attending a number of conferences a year at Excel and staying nearby. Amazing to see it so still and calm.

Alright continue holding short, we have a hot air balloon on short final, hot air balloon on short final “
Bit dangerous, the over head aircrafts going into Heathrow to that high
They stay below the height that aircraft use over London. As do helicopters in the city. In theory a plane could use London City for an emergency landing however the Thames would be a better option if they are far enough east.
Heathrow landings don’t pass straight through London, they enter the circuit or pre approach then land.

❤️ 💛 💚
You’ve got the player controls in the thumbnail.
Wow, I’d love to do this.
They asked you to put the phone away while landing? Im curious as to why?
Because hot air balloon landings are often rough and require full attention from the passengers so they don't get injured?
Plus the phone could be bounced out of your hand!
3:12 Just AMAZING mass departures.
too bad the wind wasn't going west!
"all these people sat in the middle lane"
ehhh, they're at a junction, I'd move to the middle lane to keep traffic flowing
30th anniversary of what again? I mis

Disappointed. not a single balloon reached 400kts
Interesting, but the footage of this video did'nt really live up to the normal Londonist standard.
Coalcandy Yea, but it's not easy to take a camera crew in a small basket.

This is another point to make for closing London City Airport, if they have so little air traffic on some days that they can afford to stage a balloon regatta on the runway. Thats a lot of land in the heart of the docklands that they could use for more housing.
H0ll0aloio it was a Sunday morning, the local council do not allow flights on Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings. If they did the place would be packed
H0ll0aloio It would be used for expensive housing nobody can afford and will end up like any other housing project in London. Investors everywhere.
the words packed and LCA are mutually exclusive
Just like green party's plan.Close LCY and make more mixed housing/commercial district
