Actually Tyger Twine rated 490 or above works just fine for our customers who do not have their own straps but we tie it down for our customer because if you do not do it correctly nothing will hold. Most stores will not tie it down do to liability but I would rather have a happy customer, undamaged mattress & safe travels for ours :)

Happened to me some years ago. Following a truck with the mattress in the bed not tied down evidently. Wind caught it and it was airborne, straight into my 2 front tires. Bent the metal into my tires. Left to deal with it on my own as the driver left the scene and their mattress. I avoid getting behind anything on top or in the bed of a truck.

I use one strap front to back, then two side to side- front left to rear right and front right to rear left. I have never lost a mattress and the front to back strap prevents or minimizes the flapping in the wind.

One time when my sister was driving, a giant tarp was flying down the highway. We narrowly avoided it, but I looked back and saw it color another cars windshield. I was so scared they were gonna crash, and I can only imagine what the people inside that car were thinking...probably screaming if I were them.

What role? I saw someone holding down the mattress with there arm while the other hand was on the wheel. Now, that's gangsta.

North Carolina has thee worst drivers. NOT cleaning the snow off of their cars, tailgating, pulling out directly in front of on-coming traffic and/or onto a busy highway, not waiting for traffic to clear...TERRIBLE just TERRIBLE!!

Sounds like the same drivers around here. They love to pull out in front of me at the last second all the time

using a closed-loop strap is best because the mattress is compressable.

Another solution and it’s probably the best one: Have your mattress delivered to you.

Yeah you can do that too, but I didn't have any, so I tied it from front to back and side to side. Went from Southern California to Northern California
