    Hi Jamin, I would think IT tech positions would be in demand in some areas. As a System Engineer, I would think It's hard to find any industry that does not rely on networks, computers and mobile devices. I am very fortunate; my job is 100% remote and allows me to relocate to all 50 states. I visited Anchorage and the surrounding areas in 2017 for two weeks...what's not to like. cold, snow, non-crowded, mountain views, and cooler summers are right up my alley. A good day for me is below 18 degrees with a blizzard.

      Thank you, that's a good idea for me. I've always wanted to move to Anchorage Alaska, however the real issue is thinking of jobs. I like technology, programming, support etc but idk what jobs would really be available in Alaska since it's obviously a lot tougher of a place than California or Ohio and people wouldn't care as much for tech.

    • @BlizzardSeeker

      Yes it is, the only drawback for me is moving possessions there economically.

      @@nicholasbrooks7349 Google IT, PC help desk, PC technician, programer jobs, etc. in Alaska or search by a city in Alaska. hospitals, clinics, Realtors, retail chains (like Walmart, Home depot, etc.) rely on computers and networks. You just have to search and have the skills for the position, also try searching for Open Competitive jobs, which are government jobs open to all US citizens, no prior government employment necessary.

    I hear the school districts are really hurting for bus drivers and custodians. Im moving back in 6 months and have 12 years of experience as a custodian and i also use the drive kids around in a 13 passenger van for a youth group. I am hoping to get a job as a custodian or a bus driver. So does it look like I have a good chance at that?

    I'm an experienced hazmat CDL driver in N Idaho and from what i can see i would be taking a huge pay cut to move to Alaska. I suppose running to Prudhoe Bay might pay but my wife wants to be on the coast.

    Can’t find much for experienced truck drivers online. The few jobs I did find are a joke when it comes to pay. I don’t understand how they pay so low, yet the cost of living is so much more than down here in the 48.

  • @BigManAlaska
    @BigManAlaska 7 місяців тому

    Alaska needs people who do stuff, especially with their hands as the older generation starts retiring and dying off. Trades and truck driving will pay more than healthcare type positions even though both are equally important. We're flooded with service industry workers and many are summer seasonal jobs. 😮

    My husband and I are seriously considering moving to Alaska; Fairbanks area potentially. We are aging out (50+) for an environment as harsh as Alaska can be. We both love the outdoors and plan to be in it. He is an avid hunter and wants to become a hunting guide. I’m am well- skilled in many areas and am considering teaching. I’m don’t have my teaching license but do have a MA and am willing to do more schooling. What advice can you give us?

      @alaska_realtor  11 місяців тому

      Hey Devra, that's exciting! The big thing I would recommend is to come up and visit and stay in some Airbnbs in the area that you believe yall will like the most. Shop for the area first, and then shop for the individual property. For the employment, if you're just trying to get your feet under you, I would recommend hopping in as a substitute teacher. In ASD a few years ago, it was $150 for a whole day, so that wasn't a ton but it was enough to get started.

    Jamin, I was looking for schools in Anchorage and saw that it was lottery to get into school for the kids. From your review of jobs in-demand appears schools are really an issue in AK. We currently homeschool through charter and were looking to move up there with five kids. Haven't seen episode on schools yet. Wonder if you made one.

    Just because jobs are listed it dies not mean it's a decent paying job, many industries have a ton of posting only because the pay is substandard, as in you will not want to do it for what they are offering.

    Hello Jamin, I am in North Carolina and my dream is to move to Alaska. I was born & raised here but the appeal of Alaskan life is calling my name. I am in the IT field, specifically networking/security. Basically, as soon as I can find a job offer (ideally with relocation assistance) to Alaska, I'm moving there. When that time comes I would be interested in working with you for real estate services. I am a contractor with a security clearance, so I can work on DoD facilities doing IT work. I've done a lot of research on the state of Alaska, and looks like DoD main markets are Anchorage or Fairbanks. If you happen to know anyone hiring in IT please keep me in mind. I've done a lot of my own research, and I'm not asking you to do any work for me, but more so if you have connections that may advise or help that would be great. Thank you sir

There's crack and dealers of other hard drugs THAT NEVER GET ARRESTED . Anchorage cops that have retired still get a pension thats equal to their pay .
