The fact that people damage a second print to make a first print is horrific! Those books are so beautiful! I wish I had the ability to own a first edition first print.

I can feel and share the nostalgic love for the books when you say: "I really should NOT read from this book very ofter, which I don't- NOR should I handle it very often, which I don't... but sometimes you just have to"
by the way, faking a print or damage any just to make fool of a serious collector is heartbreaking, I would feel really shattered if something that I bought and waited for weeks came in different from what I thought.

Are the Canadian first editions the same as yours. Cause my back page has young Dumbledore but misses the few other details. So is it the real first edition?
My Harry Potter & The Philosophers Stone is a 13th printing. So definitely nothing special. It does say Joanne Rowling though, which I really like.
Anything from 5 to 17 with the wizard on the back holds some value if in good condition. A 13th printing hardcover in Fine condition may sell for around $80-90.
Is a second edition hardback Prisoner of Azkaban worth anything?

This is not my main youtube account but I ALMOST bought the harry potter and philosopher’s stone! I think it’s either first or second print lol. I told my aunt about it but she won’t let me buy it lmao. So i ended up saving for it because it’s literally $5! (215 pesos.) saw it in a book sale but when I came back, somebody already bought it lmao. It was years ago but I just want to share my experience haha.

There was a first Australian edition of philosophers stone and chamber of secrets at my local book store. Both mint condition. Nothing compared to the UK editions but still cool! They were both hardback

Haha they are still there! I'm trying to save up. Philosophers stone is 650 New Zealand dollars and Chamber of secrets is nearly 200 dollars.

Hi! I recently picked up a copy of Philosopher's Stone, Canadian Edition, published 2000. It still has 'Joanne Rowling' on the inside page, 20-11 number line and the mistake on p.53 any thoughts on it?

I have first edition hardback copies of the australian editions.
In some ways thats lucky because i read the first lot SO much (they are 5/6th editions) that they are falling apart :'( I wish they were in better condition, but the wear and tear is just a sign of the love i have for the harry potter series.
I am missing 5-7 of the Australian first printings. Someone was supposed to send them but hasn't yet (not sure if they will) :( So if you know of copies in unread condition, send me an email! :D
I have those (and in great condition because my that stage i began to take really great care of my books as opposed to when i was 8/9)! But, i'm not willing to send them sorry! They are my babies! However, now that i know you exist, i will keep my eyes out for you and if i do find them i will let you know and we can sort something if yours don't arrive! I'm often on the look out for the same editions as mine so i can have a nice collection

What does it mean if you’re book had no numberline?
the only 'issue point' i have that matches this is it says Joanne Rowling on the copyright page. the number line reads 30 down to 22 (does that mean 22nd print?, seems a lot) the back cover has the newer older looking dumbledore, and wand isnt listed twice. plus the book isnt exactly mint, so i guess im not going on that round the world trip anytime soon lol. I wouldnt sell anyway.
Well done! Yes, that means 22nd print. The British books have print runs in the 80s or 90s I believe. I haven't kept track. No, this copy won't give you a round the world trip unfortunately... but you may stumble upon a copy as mentioned in this video! Never know! :D
It's Dedalus Diggle in the first editions, not a younger Dumbledore! Mine has him too, even though it's from 2006.
I am having some issues determining if my copy is a first edition. It has the old Dumbledore on the spine, the page 51 spelling error and joanne rowling on the cover page. Is it worth anything significant?

Since I will never be able to get a 1st or a 2nd, I was thinking of buying a 3rd paperback and a 4th hardback (UK Bloomsbury 1997) do you think it would be worth buying these copies even they're not the first two?
And also how much do you think would be a reasonable price of purchasing for the 3rd paperback and the 4th hardback?

You're not annoying. I'd say don't spend more than $400 on a paperback 3rd OR a hardcover 4th. This price is for books in Fine or near Fine condition.

I bought a 4th print hardcover very very good conditions (just some yellow spots but i think it's almost normal) with jacket, without any damage for 350£ (390 euros, so i think it should be 400$) :)

Vilma Riño That’s a Russian set. It’s hardcover. Scholastic only published them in paperback.

I'm pretty sure that I own a rare copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone since I bought it when it really came out back on 1997. The only issue is that is translated in modern greek so I don't know how to evaluate it's worth. Any ideas?
There is also a line saying that Flitwick is a potion's teacher! Pretty sure they fixed it in later versions!

Now I'm scared to every try and buy a 1st print in fear that it might be a fake. Is there anyway to know that the 1st edition has been faked? Would be great to see a video on fakes so that people don't get scammed! I love your channel.
As long as it has that very important back cover issue point, you should be good. No one is going to fake an already authentic first printing, you know what I mean? But YES, this is a good idea and I will put it on my future video list! :D If you're not sure, always feel free to reach out.

It's hard to believe but it is true in my school library there are 2 hard cover book
it's a shame that people fake first edition hard cover editions by removing and switching the covers.... but don't forget Harry does the same thing to his copy of Advanced Potions Making

There are many prints of the first edition, but I am not sure the number off hand.

As you mentioned in the video, the 1st Edition had the number sequence 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 to denote that it was the first edition. Likewise the 2nd Edition had the number sequence 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 to denote that it was the second edition. This trend shows a possibility of atleast upto 10 editions. Were there more or are there less than 10 editions?

An edition only changes when there is a significant change to the story of a book or something like new cover art. What you are asking is about printing. Off hand I do not know how many printings of this book there were. I do know it was close to 100 different printings. So you would find number lines like 70 69 68 67 etc. A new printing is made to correct errors in the text like spelling or punctuation or if they need more books to sell.

There are so many people on eBay claiming to be selling first editions but aren’t and it’s really sad seeing people in the comments of the page all exited when you know that it’s a second edition. To all my collectors Please be careful , and spend your money wisely.
