    Great video. Your air compressor should have a regulator where you can adjust the air pressure. Which will allow you to adjust how deep the staple drives into the wood.

      I've never upholstered anything. Do you, or should you wear goggles? I'd be concerned about staples breaking and flying into your eye.

    I’ve been using landscape fabric forever. So cheap at garage or estate sales. Love the idea of using old rugs for covering stools that you used. Making me take a second look at damaged rugs and piano scarves, etc. when I see them at sales.

    Thank you so much for this video. I can no longer use the stanley hand held stapler due to lake of strength in my hands as I grow older.

    Yes, I remember using the starter stapler as a beginner on upholstering small pieces. If you look amateur up in the dictionary, you would see my picture, but amazingly my items always sold really fast. Unfortunately, I no longer have a vintage booth, but I miss it so much. Thanks for all the great tips.

    There should be a tension adjustment dial on all staple guns to minimize or maximize the force of the staple firing. Also, there is a range of psi that you can turn your air compressor that will help with firing force. Usually, it’s 60-90psi. So turn to your lowest psi and adjust your staple depth on your stapler. Works for me. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    Thank you so much for posting this video. I'm slightly turning my hobby into a potential business through word of mouth. I'm currently searching for more advanced staplers and your tutorial is just what I needed for my research.

    The only thing I wish for on staplers like the Stanley is they would come up with a grip assist(like they have for spray paint cans) that minimize hand strength fatigue. Maybe they do? Idk. I just insulated our basement ceiling using a similar brand to the Stanley and Aye-chihuahua!! Sore hands and arms.😳

    Yes, I started with the manual Stanley, but my hands are so small that it was a struggle. I upgraded to a manual easy touch stapler and loaned it to a friend and never got it back! So, I bought an electric Aarow and love it (also didn't tell anybody I had one). Since I don't have a business anymore this one works for my few projects, but if I ever go back in business - this is great review! I also didn't know about the web stretch comb. Thanks Amanda!

    Do you know how empowering this video is for women!? Do you know that I have wondered about staple guns for a while, turned projects down at estate sales cause I wasn’t sure about the staple gun game. I just LOVE that you help us demystify tools, like I can’t say ENOUGH how awesome you are for doing this!
    Next question, I have a kitchen table that the top is now destroyed from my husband leaving vegetables on in bags. Anyone remember the show where she used some goop to take the finish off? What goop is that?
    I should mention I’m 51 years old so maybe my comment doesn’t apply to all women, hope I don’t offend anyone.

    Just watched n enjoyed the learning process.. have two side chairs that I'll be covering.. but I'm new to this process so.. hand held borrowed from my son's tools is the way to go for me.. on the fabric choice you made , it will appeal to broader audience.. so best choice for resale...but that being said.. I can see blue velvet would be breath taking!!thanks for all your teaching generosity

    Check your compressor pressure (air nail/staple guns work best at 90 psi), most air compressor have an adjustable pressure regulator and if set too high it will over penetrate. It also will wear out air tool if continually run at too high pressures.

    • @baugust4775
      @baugust4775 2 роки тому +1

      I was going to say its not the gun that packs a punch really its the gun mixed with the psi setting for the air compressor and the softness/ hardness of the wood on the project. Just takes some time and tweeking to get to know the sweet spot with the gun compressor combo.

    I just got an electric one. It can be expensive to buy the air stapler and then the air compressor. If you do many projects I can see the advantage of the air stapler and looks easier to use for example a dinette set of chairs would be much easier to complete with it. Thank you for sharing. It was informative.

    Another great video and I agree with a earlier comment be safe and wear safety glasses. I would hate to see one of those flying bat-out-of-hell staples shoot your eye out.

  • @michellejames5953

    Great job! Make sure you adjust the air pressure so you’re not applying too much and making it harder on yourself. Also, get used to using the safety.

  • @wenDesigner

    I think you can decrease the psi so it isn’t shooting the dang staple so deep. Glad you did this, I will be considering this one!

    An electric meat knife is great for cutting foam and you can usually find them cheap at thrift stores and estate sales.

  • @linmurray436
    @linmurray436 2 роки тому

    You can dial down the pressure on your compressor so it doesn't shoot the staples so deep.

    Wow, so definitely make sure you don't have kids or pets around when you hook up the air hose to that crazy staple gun! That's nuts that it just randomly fires out a staple like that!

    Hello. I am looking for an advice for the right kind of stable machine for a project. Basicly i am polstering a half car tire, for a boxing bag project. And because the clams, will not sit as tigh in the rubber, as wood, i really want a stable machine, that bend the clams, on the other side of the rubber, so its close around it. Been looking on the rapid classic model, witch should work, but i dont think it has enough pressures to shoot throu the tire, as its mean for paper work, right? So i am looking for some solution for this. I want to attach 8 layers of towels, throu the rubbertire, all in all about 2 cm thickness. Perhaps there is a model of a tool, i dont know about. I hope you can help me with an advice. Kind regards

    Beautiful chair .. you kept it around because you know classy taste when you see it ( black linen was a sophisticated choice -- goes w/ high or low decor) sidebar : what is hanging on the wall behind you ... ? Looks like some kind of animals .... ( and the middle sofa leg was crooked ?...?) Sorry , I'm in a goofy mood today !!
