Because at that time when the city were made , they don't need any wide road as no vehicles were there and they made according to the need at that time

the only drawback of delhi which ruining the beauty of delhi is population. so many peoples comes every year from places around india. its getting so full, sometimes when u on road stuck in traffic jam, i sometimes think to leave delhi but again i realize this city has so much to offer following by good roads, greenery, good transport connectivity, peoples, multi cultural, food which is best in india, beautiful girls, standard of living, so many good markets to shop, so many malls, so many clubs, cafes, resturants, bars, amazing night life and so many gate way to enjoy places around delhi with so many hills stations too. If u wanna experience delhi's beauty. Go out in night when city is less crowded. you'll see different beauty.
