I was dreading this episode, but it actually ended up being pretty solid. I was glad to see they didn't give Lindy a redemption arc. Maybe it was a little bleak for a family show, but I don't think it would have worked as well.

I hated all those idiots, so I’d have been happy with a flash forward showing their remains being ravaged by the local fauna…

Like you, I also enjoyed the episode. I especially loved all the ways RTD upended our expectations. We expect to see Lindy Pepper-Bean awakened from her Finetime social-media prison. We expect her to be an innocent. We expect Ricky September to be a vacuous self-absorbed teen-idol pop star, but instead he turns out to be a thoughtful, well-read, tech-savvy, empathetic hero. We expect to ship Lindy and Ricky. We expect the Doctor to succeed. All those expectations, shattered. The only expectation that he met was giving us some savage "Black Mirror" satire about the way tech imprisons us. I loved the U-I design of the Bubble. (I can imagine developers for Meta's Quest headset and Apple's Vision Pro to be taking notes.)
Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld had a rule for Seinfeld: No hugs. No lessons. This episode follows half of that rule. We had hugs.
Callie Cooke did a brilliant job keeping Lindy just at the edge of likeability before her cold and brutal heel turn.
What did you tell me a few episodes back? I shouldn't think too much. I think I'll reflect that back to you on this episode. Yes, RTD left out a whole bunch-how did the Doctor discover this situation? Why did he focus on one single victim when an entire population was at risk? I enjoyed the episode for what was in it. What was left out didn't bother me.
But if you want to overthink, how about this? We didn't see the TARDIS materialize at the underground river. So, how long were the Doctor and Ruby there before Lindy made it? Why were the other Finetime refugees ignoring the Doctor? Why was the Doctor ignoring them? But those aren't the sorts of questions that occur while you're watching.

That’s what I was saying about “Don’t think”. You think to much and it wobbles. But having two Doctor lite episodes back-to-back didn’t help. We have a new Doctor so I want to see him doing new Doctor things and we’ve only got three episodes left… 😒

My guess is that RTD went to Barbie at the flicks after reading an article on the do-com bubble, had zoomers talking in the mobile throughout the movie, couldn't get an uber home on his mobile - poured himself a glass of red when he got home and discovered that he had the basis for another full episode.

i thought this was the first truly sci-fi episode I've seen in quite a while. Because of the premise this felt more like Brave New World. Also think because of the way in which its story unfolds this felt almost stand alone like 450 degrees Fahrenheit. It had that kind of tone. And while the group are racists its the world building that stood out to me. I thought it was brilliant.

At the time I didn't mind the episode but thought it was a bit bland and too long. I thought they were more 'space snobs' than 'space racists' because Miss Pepperbean said "your sort". I don't understand why "Homeworld" was taken-over/eaten at a more advanced stage, considering her mother (played by Susan Twist, noticed by The Dr & Ruby) was still 'on line' during the day of the episode. How was "Homeworld" eaten at the same rate as "Happy time" or whatever it was called.
There will be lots more I could think off but this is supposed to be a comment, not an essay.

One of them says the TARDIS is voodoo…so, space racists! 👍

I thought it might be a Golgafrinchan B-arc sort of deal for a bit as well!
I've also found it really interesting reading about how a lot of black/POC viewers saw the racism 'twist' coming a mile off, like you I felt that something was off (I noticed that they were all white) but that feeling sort of just slid past me and I didn't latch onto it so I was like 'hang on, what?' when they all turned out to be massive racists.
One criticism that I have though is that there was a girl with a proper thick scouse accent amongst the space racists - nobody with that accent would be rich enough to afford to live in bubble town. Racist? Yeah. Rich? Nah lad. Rich scousers sound different.

This was Ncuti's 1st scene he filmed after the bigeneration episode. I think the slugs are the intelligent species and the humanoids are livestock being raised as food for slugs. ua-cam.com/video/ceDDC0vxm-4/v-deo.html

Didnt like this, what would have been more impactful would be if the lead character was really likable all the way until the end and then it would have actually been a blow that she turned out to be an evil space racist. But he took the lazy way out with this one. Aside from that it felt kind of tacked onto his other themes he had in this which were all the commentary about perpetually online people and also privileged people and a whole host of other messages. Not really sure what the point he was trying to make. Racism is bad..well ok we know this. Just doesnt seem to be a deep enough purpose to it.
Aside from all the messaging i wasnt a fan of the inconsistencies of the stuff about being able to walk, seemed like one minute she couldnt walk in a straight line to then running down stairs. Some major plotholes too, like if they were all space racists why are none of them bigoted towards him in all the time they are hanging out in the tunnel before she meets up with them, why can the doctor not enter the dome when he is clearly outside the tunnel she travels through and he already knows the code to the door. Why are the dots killing people with slugs and in alphabetical order, surely they could just murder them all at once in dot form like they did to ricky, its not like they would get pushback from these oblivious people. I have more gripes but overall it was a bit of a mess.

Best not to think about it. And that's the problem with RTD's writing, the more you think about it, the more it falls apart...

The Space Racists in Doctor who are the daleks. They first appeared in 1963.
But somehow 60 years later it's now a bad thing to oppose racism?
