Talk or no talk in videos?
Aaron, I welcome any information from you as you are a wealth of knowledge. Thanks for everything you've done for the welding community!
The no talk videos had a charm to them but, I actually like that we can hear you provide more information. Either way, keep ‘em coming. I have yet to find a video that addresses how much rod is fed, if it’s a dip or a push. I have only guessed by catching the stamping on the rod if it’s there. It would be a great video to put some small scratches in the rod to get a good visual on how you do it. Thanks Aaron 🎸 👍🏻

On the website, I have VERY detailed explanations on how I do everything, including feeding the filler rod. I run a sharpie stripe around the rod and show exactly how I "inject" it into the puddle, with an arc shot that shows the liquefied puddle and exactly where I introduce the rod, and how I exit the puddle. You can clearly see how much and when I feed the rod.

Aaron - definitely keep talking! You have a long history of making videos with no talking, but I really think it adds a lot of 'immediacy' to your presentation, and fills in the story much more than occasional on-screen text.
I would love to see another colab video with you and Ron again. I like the talk but also love the silent movie stuff. Keep us guessing and play it either way. Thanks for all of these videos.
Love the old Kenworth truck, there's something about this era of trucks and as you say, so much less to go wrong on them. I look forward to seeing how you bring this one back to life.

Don't be afraid to keep doing the zany stuff though. I still remember the recliner videos. That's the stuff that gets people interested.

Just received your TIG Button...Love it! I too, notice irregular metal deposition when burning thru the smashed Identification on all filler rods. I also noticed the small minute stamping can "trap" any contaminates if I do not wash the filler rods with acetone. I do scotch bright Aluminum fillers before the acetone wash.

Would love seeing fix up videos on the truck, all your teaching video are awesome but when a real part is fabricated in the process it holds my interest even more, I thought I was on the wrong channel when I heard someone talking! But I like the talking videos more, now I know your not an alien robot welder!

I guess you are the only one qualified enough to test out differences in the filling rods because the rest of your work is so consistent.
W 900A is one of the most iconic trucks ever. The only parts I've had trouble getting was a wiring harness. They are for lights and plug into the bulkhead. I ended up having to release the pins and make new ones.
The talking is fine by me.....I like it. Good to see you posting some new info. Loving my TIG Button, thanks for bringing it to our attention. Make a Transformers-ish hood emblem for the truck!

I like the old style KW. Take one of those any day. Lots of things you can make and do with it. Try accessory catalogs for ideas. There's tons of them.

Nice old kw, I use inweld filler at work runs pretty nice, at home I've gotten harbor freight 5356 on a Sunday afternoon need it now situation and it worked surprisingly well ...glad you're doing ok
You tested just about everything that I would never have considered testing. Even though the welding rods met the same certification standards, they might have different percentages of alloying components which would affect how it flowed in the puddle or dealt with oxidation of the material that you are welding...... Your subjective satisfaction while using them is what really counts.

If you have information to convey that talking would be beneficial, for example today's video certainly benefits from narration. However some of your best and or humorous videos were silent films. I have been using National Standard steel mig wire for 30 years in my borewelder. I never knew they sold aluminum consumables. I guess I should get out more!
Trucks, for the aspect of reliability and maintenance the older Kenny is probably much better. However it's still a truck and subject to all evil things trucks can annoy you with. The only good truck is one with someone else's name on that brings me my Amazon stuff! 🤣🤣🤣(and Yes I own a truck and have been around them all my life, I know!) However trucks are ripe for customization and people do some really cool stuff with them. I think it would be fun to see what you come up with as you fix 'er up. Cheers

@@6061 sorry the delayed response. I have been busy and it slipped my mind. I cannot remember the names of them. But one was when you welded the chevy bowtie to a ford truck in the dark of night (or was it the other way around?) That was hilarious. The Cummins B series valve cover and the Ron Covel Bomb project are among my favorites.

The talking is cool to convey certain points, but I also enjoy the videos where you don't.
I'm interested in the updates you do to the truck. I'm a car guy and creative solutions come from many places.
Finally a voice with the face, I mean welder's mask.
I wonder how these rods stack up against the alcotec stuff. Talk is good, but sometimes I think letting your work speak for itself does some justice. I'd love to see you make a sweet grill guard for that beautiful front end.

6061 has a website where all Q's are A'd. Also has good arc shots and all the other answers about how Aaron does it. Also he gave that information in this video. I heard it. Observe grasshopper, observe.

Talking is great, better to see the video listen to the sound. The HF tig noise could be edited out though.
If you had the choice between a Fronius or a Miller Dynasty which would you go for?
I have never used a Fronius welder, so I can't say.
Surprised that an Al TIG welder such as yourself would worry? Obviously you are in the 95% with skills, and can adapt. Caning one supplier/company in comparison, IF one is an expert, seems a bit of weak sauce.
I love your videos, I cannot do close TIG anymore, so many of us old-timers love your work, and watch to remember the buzz! Stick to the beads...dump the YT garbage. Cheers!
