Can't wait to see what you do with it! Good luck, man!
Thank you Tavarish for selling the car to the Car Wizard
Ahhhhh holy
And he is going to need all of that good luck
I love that Ferrari so much! I'm a lambo loving lady but that is one of the most beautiful Ferrai in my opinion. I wish I had one
@tavasih Would you accept 20 000$ for selling the car on the spot ?
Freddy - "This car isn't trashed enough for me to fix..."
Wizard - "I'm used to these kind of things from Tyler."
Except Tyler was smart enough to pass it on ! It’s the perfect car for wizard though.
Technically, it is a thing from Tyler. Lol
Lmfao
He not getting paid though
Wait a minute. This 308 isn't nearly as broken as it seemed during car trek. Ok we have to wait to find out what's going with the engine. But if if it's only a case of rebuilding the carburettors that's not such a big deal.
I'm glad the Wizard got this, it deserves the kind of attention that only he can give a car!
The only alternative would be if Hoovie bought it so the Wizard would stll be the one fixing it lol.
@@millsmillsmills203 Indeed! Then Tyler would be the one paying...seems like his style...
0:45 Mrs fine ass Wizard should stand up on the car like that
well him and probably a good bunch of other mechanics with experience in sports cars
I'm so glad that you got a hold of this because this means that it will get fixed. Properly.
Agreed, I mean Freddy might be an ok mechanic, but this kind of car needs some serious appreciation, the the Wizard will definitely deliver. No nonsense, chinese radio, neons and aftermarket rims on this beauty (And I'm not against aftermarket rims, I think they are almost necessary to make some vehicles look exciting and interesting, but on this car, those ferrari stars look amazing)
@@PastLight The car needs a mechanic and a "technician", with the ability to see things through. I am curious on how Wizard will handle the carburettors seeing as he has mentioned several times he doesn't like them and might not have the necessary skillset to correctly tune them. I'd love a quick and short collab with Iain Tyrrell of Tyrrells Classic Workshop.
@@TBendez in the long run carbs should be better cause early fuel injection can be finicky. More simple with carbs if you can tune them up.
@@elitesniper923 I can neither agree nor disagree and it's beside the point I was trying to make. He has stated he isnt as good with carbs as with electronic fuel injection.
On the other hand, Wizard hates mechanical fuel injection even more (and so he should) so carbs that are tuned with the help of listening and reading plugs is probably the better option.
@@TBendez This car needs a video collaboration with that amazing blind mechanic who can tune carbs (and do loads of other things) by sound and feel. That’d be cool.
Mrs Wizard: how much did you pay for it?
Mr Wizard: About two weeks worth of hoopties
25k is chump change for Mr Wizard thanks to Tyler, who is always ready to stuff his pockets because of italian hoopties, the irony.
@@TYLSawadaTsuna If it all goes horribly wrong and the engine, gearbox and suspension all need replacing Tyler will probably offer the Wizard $30000 :-)
@@MrDuncl I'll give him 30k right now, just tell me where to pick it up..
More like: "Don't worry. Tyler will bring in another Hooptie that will make me thousands."
congrats, you are gonna make it great

Still not sold on whether it should be a restore to close stock or restored to cannonball as I was saying elsewhere.
Check my channel comments and hold that trashcan fire!
The wizard is the utmost perfect owner for this beautiful masterpiece
The Wizards wife and Car looks amazing
Watching the Magnum PI shows of the 80's you can tell the age of the show, because the wheels on the Ferrari grow in diameter, as the years go by, and aspect ratio of the tires goes down.
"she did an excellent job, she did what she came to do, but i don't appreciate her standing on the hood" So polite Mr Wizard.
Whose brilliant idea was it to have a model stand on the hood with stiletto heels in the first place is more the question?
I cringed at that girl standing on the car. Lost a smidge of respect for Freddy there.

The fact it’s a couple making that joke is what made it so fricking funny 💀💀
Dude, I am so glad you picked up this car and are going to fix it! I was literally thinking to myself on the last episode- 'Man, I wish someone would take this and fix it on their UA-cam channel!'
Thank you.
this makes me SO damn happy. that car was not broken, it just needed love.
You'd have to be a car wizard to buy this car. This will be fun to watch.
We can all imagine the labour and parts costs. :)
When I saw that wiring my ringpiece twitched involuntarily!
Oh man, I'd love to have that as my next project!

I feel like these two are Hoovie's spiritual parents
No, I don't got to love Mrs Wizard. She should go bake a pie.
That must have been some row, lol. Glad he won but I reckon he owes her. Rewatch that discussion and see more and lisan more.

I am jealous of your ability to view this car as an “opportunity” rather than junk. Good luck with your Reno!
Can you imagine going back in time about 10-15 years and telling someone that in the future people were going to live out their dreams by making car videos and making too much money. Good for these guys. They are living the dream!!!
You are an absolute legend! Thank you for taking this on. And I am so happy that you are going to stick with your gut feelings and leave the car as "stock" (for this thing) as you can. Those wheels and meaty tires look awesome! And while the front grill is odd, it also gives the car an interesting look. I can't wait to see the progress and as you go through it and make that engine work like it is supposed to.
As a child of the 80's I still like how these look.
Timeless design. Real art.
People dog on these because of performance but man are they pretty to look at! I love em!
As a child of the 2000s I do too.
You can't not like how it looks, and not even an 80s kid...
its a sin not to love how that beauty looks
You cannot believe how relieved I am that it is going to a good home to be restored!!
I am pleased to see you bought it. I was actually thinking of contacting them and buying it myself. It was my favorite of the three Ferrari. And felt it needed repaired and brought back.
Tavarish: I always make questionable choices when it comes to buying cars. Wizard: Oh, I see you're holding my beer already.
I love your vision for taking it back to pretty close to stock. I grew up watching Magnum so the 308 is my favorite Ferrari. I think they are beautiful and this one is a really straight and clean to start with. I think that it's going to be a great car when you get done with it.
Dear Wizard: If there is anyone on this planet whom I want to see dive into this project, it is you!
Aww, isn't that nice.
The 308 was the best looking of the 3 Car Trek cars. It may not have been perfect, but it was the one I would have wanted.
It was a damn close fight (for looks) between the 308 and the 599, IMO
I commented on Cartrek, 308 is Iconic.
My choice over the the other Ferraris
Slowdaze...With all due respect, that's an insane desire.
It doesn’t matter how shitty it is, I would have this stunning looking 308 over the other two CarTrek Ferraris any day. Good call keeping the 14” alloys.
Yeah I agree this is a classic. Well worth the investment to fix it.
I picked up the same year, 1978 208GTS from an estate sale late last year, I never intended to be a Ferrari owner though I spontaneously purchased it for shockingly on the cheap! It's in great shape including MANY extra parts such as tin Ferrari "posters" hung in original owners garage, tools, carbs, doors, seats, various steering wheels, not yet installed roll cages, fuel (gastanks) cells, NEW old radiators, stock piston kits, rods, crankshafts, bearings, lots of misc bolts & fasteners, even high comp piston kits, two NEW engine blocks, various performance cams for the original 2 valve per cyl engine among multiple other(s) for the 4 valve heads including multiple sets of "DOHC" 4 valve heads! The driving computer still works along with everything else. The owner ran "engineered" gasoline he purchased at hardware store which explains how clean the engine is along with running waterless coolant, I've inspected engine with a cheap video inspection "endoscope" I ordered from Amazon. The owner accumulated the various parts over the years after he purchased car from original owner in early 1990's, I remember seeing the car for many years even as a child at local parades & car enthusiast meetups, his family didn't know much about the car but claimed they had many memories & stories about it growing up they were in an apparent hurry to sell off the estate with the pandemic situation & all I lucked out being the only person who offered to purchase it, being where it was located people were more interested in the various tractors & Ford trucks from the estate. So far I've driven it in a local parade & plan to drive it this holiday weekend, if it doesn't rain.
I'm excited to watch the Wizard work his magic on the 308. A couple of my friends, who never watch this channel or now tuned in.
Eventhough it’s in a sad state it was still the coolest model on car trek. Most iconic.
Best looking by far.
@@PRamsey77 Absolutely agree.
I agree, every time it was driving along the highway, I was thinking that it was the best looking car of the series.

Awesome car! Can't wait to see what you do with it! I would be cool to see that car back in the day when the interior was finished and functional, a different era for the 12 volt industry.
This is the best possibility for this 380. After finishing cartrek I definitely wanted to see it repaired. Now I get to see my favorite yt mechanic work on it!
Well this might be the most interesting thing The Wizard has done.

Knowing Car Wizard and his skills, this 308 will rise like a phoenix and live again.
I hope so but he's got at least 3 other projects that remain incomplete, so I'm not holding my breath. The '38 Olds, the '66 Chevelle and the large boat. To be honest, this Ferrari is the only one I'm really interested in.

@@violinmiata I have a 1992 Honda Civic I bought 8 years ago that would likely have been in the crusher by now. I have redone most of the suspension and steering, and hopefully soon I can find a B-series transmission for a reasonable price as I have a rebuilt, high compression B18A1 waiting to go into it now. The original D15B7 still runs, but the poor thing has 285,000 miles on it and it burns oil on 3 out of 4 cylinders. Once the B18 is dropped in, next will be finding a VTEC head for it. While my car isn't a Ferrari, I still love what Honda did to make even their most mundane cars, handle so, so well, and a B-series wakes up nicely with little effort :)

Wizard: The interior of this car is some shade of brown.
Mr. Regular Car Reviews has entered the chat.....
BROWN.
Cannoballs are scary right... what shade of brown again?!?
Replacing the old bullet style fuse box with the Birdman fuse box is a must... I did mine soon after getting my 308 QV 16yrs ago... it cleared up all the electrical gremlins and prevented future ones for sure.. Windows went up faster.. dash and interior lighting was brighter. Good choice! GTBs get more $$ than GTS because they made fewer GTBs hence rarer and they supposedly track better due to a stiffer body. But without AC my choice would be a GTS open Targa. Yep it must have a story
There are two priests would know more. One was short and black and the other white constantly drunk. Sadly they are no longer with us to tell the story but I think there was a video or something 😃 😃
Was it called cannonball run with burt reynolds? Iconic 80s film
I owned a '79 308 GTS back in the '80s and will always have a place in my heart for these cars. For that reason, as long as Freddy didn't have time for it, I'm glad to see the Wizard bought this car. I know it will be in good hands as he brings it back its former glory.
I believe the front grille and spoiler of the nose are original Ferrari parts - they are from the Ferrari 328 GTS. Many many interior and engine parts are also shared with contemporary Alfa Romeos, e.g. the Alfetta/GTV/75 , and Duetto/Spider, which will bring prices down, as Alfa and Ferrari even now share a parts bin. With kind regards.
