    I’m spiritual but not religious. With that said, I am fascinated with how others who are religious spend their daily lives/worship.
    It’s admirable to follow such strict rules; my inner heathen child would rebel. But in all seriousness, thank you for allowing people to have a glimpse into your life. Your voice and demeanor is very calm and soothing and I’m learning a lot from you.

    Chana!!! I loved that you mentioned the planning! I start the next week list on Wednesday nights in winter, Thursday nights in summer, because those are the days when I (try) to wrap up my ‘normal week’ activities and get fully ready for Shabbat (other than closing odds and ends like emails or telephone calls) so usually whatever I didn’t end up finishing or see that I need to buy/do/work on next week, I start putting in as a list for next week. On motzei Shabbat I finalize this list (on most weeks sometimes Sunday), so cool to see another Jewish woman also do planning on this night!
    Fun fact in my community it was tradition to have a big party after Shabbat and then go family skating at a nearby rink, it felt like the whole community showed up at 8 and we all called it family night. :)
    Great video!!! Thank you so much!!!! (Also by the way I Loved your timer on the hot plate tip! Seems so simple to get individual timers and use them and for some reason I just hadn’t thought of that for this application, after your little light bulb moment for me I wrote it down :) thank you so much! Amazing how little things like this can be so ‘Ah Ha’ going for us sometimes!!!)

      @jaroffireflies  4 роки тому +1

      Love your skating party! I hope y’all are able to get back to that soon ❤️ So glad you got a great tip with the timer! Here it gets so hot in the summer that it’s so helpful to help cool down the kitchen by not having the hot plate on constantly through Shabbat. We still do it in the winter I don’t know why lol

    I have taken challah and made bread pudding and it is amazing (bread pudding is kinda like a baked French toast in a custard) Challah is one of my favorite foods. When I make it I always make extra dough and will make cinnamon rolls and dinner rolls also. My moto is you can never have too much challah.

When I make the dough I will pinch some and make balls for dinner rolls or roll it out for the cinnamon rolls or braid it for the shabbat. I am kind of curious how/if you tidy up at all during Shabbat. I have a very small place, and am still practicing now worrying about the mess on Shabbat. Any tips?

    • @jaroffireflies
      @jaroffireflies  4 роки тому +2

      I definitely tidy up :) I go into Shabbat with a clean house (especially vacuuming and cleaning bathrooms). I can sweep on Shabbat, so that takes care of floors. I can wash dishes I need, so that’s also helpful. I load the dishwasher over Shabbat so I can run it Saturday night. And I use baby wipes to clean up messes in the kitchen or floor (not everyone uses baby wipes, so check with your rabbi :) ). I hope that helps!

    • @jaroffireflies
      @jaroffireflies  4 роки тому +1

      @@Shenanigans_Afoot great! Just make sure you have the dishwasher turned off so there aren’t any lights that turn in when you open it. Some dishwashers are like that, others it’s not a worry :)

      During the havdalah ceremony? A little wine we poured from the kiddush cup. I explain it all in my havdalah explanation video if you’d like to learn more: ua-cam.com/video/w74LbV5sQGM/v-deo.html

    I just found your channel. I've watched a few times now. I love it and I will be back. I have never commented on UA-cam before but I feel compelled right now. It makes me crazy watching all the water that is wasted. Is it written that you have to LEAVE THE WATER RUNNING???? Please, please try to conserve.
