I was amazed enough when I noticed that this level shared its road signs with Crisis City. Then I heard 1:44 . The hints were there, and I never knew. Empire City IS Crisis City, before it was destroyed! Mind blown!

People always say about Jungle Joyride (Day) but Skyscraper Scamper will always be the best for me. From the first Jazz notes to the last. I always shake my head listening to this techno.
This was my favorite stage in the game. It was challenging, but a fun and fair kind of challenging. I've also been a fan of downtown aesthetics for years, and it's one of the less linear stages. I'm also American, so I feel right at home.

I love the attention to instrument choices in Skyscraper Scamper day tune, especially the synthesizers. After the beat enters, TB303 reflects the Urban music of the actual NY culture fictionalized. Marshall Jefferson comes to mind from the Urban/soul vibes in this track.

Super late comment but I definitely feel that they capture the atmosphere of the level at 2:16. Plus the sax that plays near the end is a cherry on top for this amazing track. This OST is just on another level I swear.
This stage has one of the best openings in a Sonic game. Love how the camera is panned from a far while Sonic is speeding down the highway, and sax is going off. Then the moment the camera switches back to normal gameplay, the music starts to shifts into overdrive as Sonic running through the first big loop.
