- [2023] Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway is a New dark ride in Mickey's Toontown at Disneyland. The ride is very similar to the one at Disney's Hollywood Studios, but with a few differences in the tornado scene and finale of the ride.
You will get to see some of your favorite Disney characters on the ride such as: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, and Daisy.
Ride filmed February 2023 in Mickey's Toontown at Disneyland Resort.

The projections are pretty impressive on this ride, like being in a cartoon. Im excited to see what else they can do with the technology

I’m glad they now have this attraction on the West Coast. I never experienced it at Walt Disney World, but I hope to ride it at Disneyland.

i got off of this ride smiling so hard when I tried going on it at Disneyland it was simply amazing I felt like I was actually in the cartoon
What a wonderful addition to Disney for the small children and people that don't like Fast rides very colorful enjoying the video and in-person it must be spectacular
Even for the non kids it’s still a fun experience, I went on it a few days ago, and while yes it isn’t a “thrilling” ride, it does what it’s meant to do, being you into a cartoon world with Mickey and the gang and go through a cheesy but charming misadventure. I love rollar coasters and had a blast on Rockin roller coaster tron etc (wish I could have rode space mountain) but I still loved this ride for the themeing and expirience

2:32 When i went on that ride, I LITERALLY thought that me and my friends are going to drop from that waterfall. But it turns out that it's just a scene of them falling off the waterfall and not us.

You seem so much farther away from the set pieces than the WDW version. Like you could barely see Daisy at all

I was so sad cause I was there for new years going into 2024 and we had a scheduled time stamp for it and it went down in the que so we tryed to get back in but it was down for like 2 days 😭

Overall great use of projection mapping but it just feels like it is "enough" to get by with the Disney name. Similar to most of the things that have come from the parks over the last 8 or 9 years.
The vehicles seem too bulky impacting how much environmental scenery you see or move past. It feels like you are watching it instead of IN it. Hence the problem with the bulkiness of the ride vehicle and the clearance it needs. I fully believe Josh's newly extended leash will allow budgets to truly reflect the greatness all the parks deserve.
Parks Operations needs to want every resort to be like OLC's Mecca of Magic. Listen to the people creating and dreaming + the guests paying for that magic.

Why not attempt to hide the lights overhead? And rely less on screens? Its a great ridez just wish that many of the scenes didn't rely on regular screens. :/
I rode the Hollywood studios one recently and the screens weren't bad at all. It looks like a moving painting. The fact the backdrop and scenes are also painted and the light levels are relatively balanced sells the effect well. In the video, it looks like it stands out a bit more than in real life because I think the projected scenes are a bit overexposed. But in real life to my eyes it's lit to the same intensity as the painted and physical scene so the projected scenes blend in really well.
TLDR: They went through some effort to make the physical set seem like a projection with lighting and color so the actual projection sets don't stand out as much. Blending the whole thing well in real life.

I am sure it's cheaper and easier to maintain screens over proper sets and animatronics, and easier to change it when they retheme the ride
@@fearoffema Honestly it's a pretty good ride. There are also lots of animatronics, Mickey and Minne in the car in the tunnel, Mickey and Minne in the carnival air balloon. Mickey and Minne in the Jungle bush, Pete in the city set, Daisy in the dance studio, and Mickey and Minne at the picnic.
It's nothing at all like Avatar River Journey which has just 1 animatronic (admittedly 1 really nice one).

I like this ride except for the daisy scene. It just seems so out of place lol
The Daisy scene is actually a "buffer" and it's length depends on how the train ahead of you is doing (taking longer to unload etc.)
A cleavand steamer is when someone craps on someone's chest and rocks back and forth like a steam roller
