  • Thanks for checking out the video! 🙌🏼
    I got my Tech Disc about a month ago and have been putting in lots of work so let's see where my stats are sitting now. I was trying to primarily improve my arm speed, spin rate, and nose angle so let's see how I did!
    If this doesn't convince you to get a tech disc I don't know what will! 😄

    Awesome vid. I have a tech disc on the way and this is hyping me up a lot.
    Talking about explosive but not at 100%, I remember Josh at OT talking about accelerating through the throw. Not throwing hard immediately from the reach back but focusing on accelerating the arm throughout the throw. That tip was huge for me in consistently getting to the right spot throughout my swing.
    Also the elbow extension part with AB/Courtis, that totally makes sense that you'd eek-out some more power. You're allowing yourself to explosively load your arm, shoulders and back right as you begin pulling through, as opposed to having your arm out, which cannot elastically load as much.
    GL on the training!

    For me the reason my launch angle has been low is because the target area of my net is relatively low. So I've placed it on the curb in front of my house, and I throw from the street now, and I've been able to correct the launch angle that way. You might put a target up on your net and aim for that, to help you dial in that launch angle. You can then tweak the nose angle based on the launch angle. Lastly, for me, fixing the nose angle did involve a slight bit of supination, using the "turn the key" cue. That supplements the "pour the coffee" cue pretty well.

      That's a great idea. I've actually thought of that but haven't gotten around to it! As I keep working I think I'll try to pin something to the net to set a good launch angle!
      I found that the supination did help a lot actually. when I had my arm pronated I found my nose popping up so instead of trying to supinate at the right time trying to supinate the whole reach back helped a lot.
      Thanks for the tips 🙏🏼

      @@dan.dupreezdiscgolf Also check out 2 videos from Disc Golf Neil, where he talks about sort of an in-out-in-out arm movement that Kyle Klein and Simon Lizotte does, which is very similar to what you were talking about in the last half of your video.

      Thanks Nick, I have the mid-range (Buzzz) TechDisc and am struggling to consistently get my nose down to the -2 range and still have my launch angle in the positive. The good news is, it is improving. I know that because, The TechDisc measurements indicate that but more importantly, my drives are going further out on the course. I have recently birdied two holes on my local course that up until now have only parred. So YES, TechDisc is helping me. It may not be for everyone, but for those that want to improve more quickly it may be a useful tool. I understand the cost is an important consideration for most of us. It is not cheap.

      @@RGMDG Yeah I have over 1100 throws with mine so far and it's helped me quite a bit in terms of understanding what I'm doing now. Come to find out one of the big reasons my nose angle has been high is because of a swooping motion I do in my throw, which basically pushes the disc up during my swing. Basically if you can keep your disc on a flat plane during the throw, that'll almost completely solve your nose angle issues. Ironically, it's tied to rounding, which is more of a root cause of the swoop.

      Awesome work! That tip you mentioned about coiling before extending the arm is the exact same thing I found in my techdisc journey. I noticed it while watching Will Schusterick throw, and it's such a great queue. I'm working on getting in a deeper pocket and trying to hit 65mph before the season starts (congrats on already hitting that benchmark!).

    Have you noticed a significant difference since using the Tech Disc out in the field? Either in distance or accuracy?

    • @dan.dupreezdiscgolf
      @dan.dupreezdiscgolf  6 місяців тому

      Honestly I haven’t really been able to give it a fair shake since I live in Alberta and my course is snowed in, but I’ve thrown mids putters and a few fairways but nothing full power. I did notice most discs fly further with less effort now which is cool! Not huge difference in distance but noticeable with my putters and mids.
      I did notice however that my discs don’t fade or turn as much as they did before. My spin has increased even when throwing slower so there are more stable meaning they are more usable and stay in the air longer.
      Definitely cool to see them just stick in the air and glide longer but now I have to relearn all my discs 😂

      Do you have any feedback on which tech disc model to purchase ? driver or fairway ….

  • @pathape
    @pathape 6 місяців тому

    I wonder how accurate tech disc is. Or maybe there are other factors that comes into play with distance thats outside of what tech disc measures. My numbers through tech disc indicated i should throw a decent amount further than i do. It measured my speed 4-5 mph faster and with more spin more than my friend and throws farther than me. I was surpised that i was constently over 65mph and i only throw a tick above 400 on average.

    • @dan.dupreezdiscgolf
      @dan.dupreezdiscgolf  6 місяців тому

      Very interesting! I haven’t been able to take the new form out and throw full drives due to snow but I’m curious if the distance will be similar to what tech disc is showing me or not. I know pre off season I was able to get to 400 so I know I won’t be below that but I’m not sure how much difference a few mph and increased spin will make on the course! I’ll definitely make a follow up video to see where my distance actually ended up once the snow is all gone!

      @@dan.dupreezdiscgolfIt felt odd throwing into a net at full power. So maybe the technique is enough different than actually throwing at a course or into a field

    • @dan.dupreezdiscgolf
      @dan.dupreezdiscgolf  6 місяців тому

      Yup very true, without being able to visualize the hole or the field you're throwing its hard to completely commit to the shot! I found that was an issue for me but I had to find ways to up the intensity and commit regardless of your surroundings

    • @RibanRox

      65mph has the potential to push 500’ but you need to throw with good spin rate 1100rpm+ and have nose angles lower than -2 degrees.
