Well done on haul Martin. It's an enjoyable part of RSD for me too - seeing what you got. The store I went to in Glasgow had Tilt. As I said on insta- my list of purchases got longer. I added a couple of jazz titles, etc. Cheers
Your haul was good...for me, this RSD was pretty sick, I don't think I spent as much $$$ as I did this year...I got 15 titles over 3 trips...I don't do the overnight thing anymore, messes with my sleep pattern, and usually, my most wanted titles are still there, and if not, I search & if still not, I look for deals online...I'm in New York btw...trip #1, I went to a local store called Mr Cheapo's & got 7...Ramones, Sparks/Noel, Parliament, Elton John, Dead or Alive, Golden Earring & David Bowie (I much prefer coloured, splatter or picdisc, but that being plain black?!?! Boo!! But I'll live) & online I bought the Dwight Yoakam CD box...and with Taylor Swift, I got the exclusive clear vinyl at Target...got no letter though, oh well, but I did get all 4 deluxes on CD from her webstore...trip #2 I got 6 more...Sonic Youth, Neil Young/Crazy Horse, various funk people "The Westbound Sound", Cheech & Chong, Lowell George (solo album from the Little Feat leader...also only black vinyl, boo!!) & Paramore (with the remixes)...and yesterday, I got my 15th title, Def Leppard...the Tinted Windows is getting tough to find now, I do want the Sophie, the Blur & Lily Zoetropes, that Keane, and the Kirsty, I too got that boxset & buying her catalogue...there is a pic in the book in the box of Kirsty & her friend Billy Bragg (also had an RSD piece "Bloke on Bloke"), well I was just on this music cruise called Cayamo (16th Edition) & Billy was on it, so I brought the Kirsty book, the booklet from prior set "From Croydon to Cuba" & the 12x12 booklet from his big 14CD box "The Roaring Forty: 1983-2023", for him to sign, and he signed em all!! Top bloke Billy is!!
Look particularly forward to your record day haul, Martin, I knew there would be some Prince in there somewhere. Some good buys in there. One thing l dont really get though, this rather unnecessary business of queuing overnight can surely be avoided here and at other stores. Not quite sure why the stores can not just hold your item/s, if it's pre ordered/reserved. Especially if you pay a deposit towards them. What's your view on this?
It’s the whole point of RSD. To encourage people to visit their local independent record shop to buy limited release records on a first come first served basis.
Luckily my local shop isn’t as busy I got there at 4.30am and was First!!! Never felt so good/smug as when they opened the door and I looked down at the length of the line, like you it was cold and was shivering (and think have a cold today) I got all I wanted including Bowie and John Lennon except Kate Bush and that was only because they weren’t sent any
A couple of years ago I could safely rock up at that time and be in the first three but it just keeps getting busier and busier. Glad you got what you wanted.
A Very Good Evening To Yah Martin. Nice Haul You Picked Up There, Fair Amount Of Records Purchased Alright. I Only Went With 3, But I Did Get Another 6 On The John Digweed Bedrock Records Website (He Was Doing His Own Record Store Day Special Release). For The Normal RSD I Picked Up - Keane, London Grammar, Laufey, Was Also Going To Get The Allison Goldfrapp, But I'll Hold Off For A Week Or Two. If It's Still About It's Meant To Be, If It's Gone I Wont Worry To Much About It. Then On The Bedrock Website I Picked Up Some Underground Dance Music (After All, That's What My UA-cam Channel Is All About). Some Great Vinyl In That Haul You Picked Up Martin.
@@mpharris1999 Yeh The Keane One Was On The Top Of The List, So Glad I Got That. The John Digweed Items He Only Put Up On His Website Last Minute So I Had No Intention Of Getting Anything (That Was Until I Got The Notification From Bedrock (John). Actually Going To See Keane In 3 Weeks. So Looking Forward To Seeing The Lads Again, Its Been Awhile.
I normally get to my record shop Cruisin Records in Welling Kent at around 12.30am normally 2nd in the queue . yes it was very cold like you I was cold all through the night. Love your goody bag, I manage to get record store day 2024 slip mat. Shame no tote bag this yes. Best part of record store day is chatting to all your friends that you see every record store day. Your wallet must of took a wallop as these records are not cheap. take care.
You’ve persuaded me to (hopefully) pick up the Pulp mini-album online on Monday. With me having filled in the studio album gaps recently I’d feel I was missing out on some important work of theirs if I don’t get Intro
Hi Martin I always look forward to your rsd videos always fun and entertaining. Interestingly I bought 7 records and you didn’t buy any of them .. cheers Martin 👍👍👍👍
Queuing from 5pm the day before for RSD is insane. Fair play to people who queue for the experience, but I prefer to stay in bed and order mine when they go online, on Monday.
@@mpharris1999 I generally only buy one or two titles so I always get them, but if I wanted lots of titles and had a RSD shop on my doorstep, I would go along... but just not 5pm the day before 😂
Great finds and haul Martin. Kirsty MacColl was very tempting, they had that one in Aalborg, but I ended up with my biggest haul from a RSD ever so, had to leave it 🥹 Oh, cool, Lily Allen. Did the Blur. zeotrope «work»?. Do you need an app to see the animation? Never seen one up close before. I gave it a miss since I got the Gorillaz, which is gorgeous. 6 bonus tracks, yes please 😊 The James Bond one was nice. Features the only classic Bond lady to appear in two films if memory serves me right? Fellow Scandinavian Maud Adams would later show up as the Octopussy of the title. Love the Monty Python one, but have it in various forms allready, but love there were some comedy albums for RSD 😊 Yes, I also got Pulp. Enjoyed it a lot. Supergrass I didn’t see, not Super Furry Animals (huge fan) but I had to order that and it’s on its way. I hope! All in all, I took the train back from Aalborg with 11 titles. And yes, there is a video if you’re curious. Take care Martin, cheers from Morten 😊
Thanks. Maud was the only Bond lady to play a main Bond girl in two films until Lea Seydoux but there are several who have played lesser roles in two or more films. I haven’t spun the zoetropes yet but yes you need either a strobe light or a special app to see the effect. Glad you got what you wanted.
My favourite part of record store day is watching your haul videos
Thanks
I only picked up GorillaZ "Cracker Island" with the alternate cover with tax $60.00. Great haul for you Martin you picked up some great vinyl.
Thanks. Glad you got what you wanted.
Look forward to this every year! Great haul - I usually go out at 2-3am every year, this year I went at 2pm and still managed to bag what I wanted.
That’s good, I probably would have got away with going later but I would have been stressed.

Yes ASOV got in touch today to say they’d misread an email so I will be getting a copy of Tilt. Glad you got what you wanted.

What's your view on this?
It is against RSD rules to reserve or pre-sell items.
@@mpharris1999 didn't realise that was the regulation. Do you agree with it? Not sure l do to be honest, but it all adds to the day l suppose.

Thanks Rob, shows there’s something for everyone on RSD 😁
The official RSD tote bags (from the company ran by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie) got sent back at customs.
Oh, we’ve not had official bags at my store for a couple of years.

Fair enough, of course there’s always the risk if you wait that you may struggle to get a title and you have to pay for shipping etc.

Interesting review of your purchases.Still can’t get over the extortionate prices for some of them.Just because….they had a supposed cherry on top.
Fair enough
