Thanks for the video. It's good to know (having recently bought one) that the performance of the green isn't miles behind the pro model, and as it's only for general DIY it should last me

Although counterintuitive, maybe the green one can run faster on the assumption it won't run for very long in a DIY environment so it won't overheat / overload, and inside they are probably the same. Take for example the rotary hammers 2 24, 2 26 and 2 28 from bosch. I can only guess, but the design, cooling and probably mechanics are equal, and 2 28 being 20w more powerful, I wonder if it is just a 2 24 with a 'deeper' trigger. Today you can also see other brands copying the same design (for example, Wesco and Philco) but declaring 900w instead of 820 from bosch 2 24. And, not surprisingly, they are not meant to be 'professional'.
Just another example: the kitchen mixer kitchenaid artisan. The American model (KSM150PSER) is rated 325 watts, but the Latin America model (KEA33CVANA) is rated 275 watts. What gives? I really doubt they would go all the trouble to make a specific motor for LAM to cut some cents and make kneading times inconsistent between the product - which has been made for decades the same way.

I had assumed the higher speed is because they want it to be "universal" so better for drilling wood, etc. So they make it rev @ 2000rpm because that's the high speed on standards drill/drivers. But I think your points' very realistic too! Saves design efforts by factoring in desired service life. Your green is basically never going to wear out with its intended occasional usage, but your blue may well wear out during its 6 year warranty period, because it's supposed to be used every day. Makes total sense!

i dont understand why blue cant use power for all. im sticking with green because i have 4 or 5 power for all batteries and chargers and dont want multiple systems for that.

Cool Video, nicely done and fairly rated and explained. Would have loved to see the comparosion with both machines running an 18mm comparison… Greetz from Germany, N.

Looks like the GBH 185-LI is coming to Australia soon, but called the GBH18V-22. Looks cool!

Nice comparison! What about Black & Decker, you plan on reviewing any hammers from them? Their products are often very cheap, but I just wonder if there might be something to them anyways. If they get some «cross polination» from stanley or dewalt it shouldn’t be too bad I guess

I do have plans! it's actually been in my cart for ages but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. I have all 3 TTI 1-inchers so I'll probably do those before I get the black& Decker. What would be useful to see? I think the drilling tests are pretty informative so far, so maybe some teardown?
