They filmed this movie in Brantford Ontario, Canada. The location was perfect, they didn't have to change anything. Burned out cars, road crevaces, ash falling on everything. Even Black Dahlia was a walk-on extra, they had dozens to pick from, all in similar clothing. Weird place.

There are 3 silent hills, the normal, the ashy one, and the demon one. The ashy one is where time stops, so the people there do not age but are haunted when the black silent here appears. Alessa took a while to seperate herself to three, the burnt one, the revengful one and the innocent one. Hence the time lapse. If I recall there are other silent hill movies after this continuing the plot.
Plot twist: Minute Movies knows the nurse a little too personally, and thats why he's not as scared of them 😏
Fun fact silent hill is extremely loosely based on a town in PA called Centralia which was built on a coal mine that's still burning till this day.

Like, tell a story or don't tell a story, Japanese hipster-writers. It either happens or it doesn't. This stupid "mental illness"/"only inside main character's head/main character is already dead" thing was overused in the 80's.
One does not simply go into Silent Hill...

What a coincidence - I just recently re-watched this movie and I can appreciate that this is the more 'decent' movie adaptation of Silent Hill. The Revelations sequel is, quite something...

The title of this video is basically what every gamer thought when they saw Lady Dimitrescu
I remember seeing this film for the first time without any knowledge what it is about other then creepy. Well it scared the fck out of me.. 😅
The 2nd or of these was quite good too. Can't recall if a 3rd was to be done. 'They' are in preproduction for another film of course, by all accounts really dumbed down on the tension & jump-scares.. which begs the question Why Bother ! This film managed what few So Called horror are capable of, make a horror without relying on visceral gore & splatter (now that's disgusting), it relies heavily on atmosphere & tension & scares.. frankly it's how a horror should be made.
By no means the best horror out there, but it's one of the last that got the formula right.
On a side note. Silent Hill town, loosely based on Centralia Pennsylvania. An old US mining town, abandoned in early 60s, due to the mines catching fire.. & still burning. Worth googling; very interesting.
