Ppl seem more critical of Jane's food b/c it's Jane. I guess it's ok for Jordanna & Matt to serve subpar Mexican & Japanese dishes. Jordanna made a wrap not a tortilla & other contestants have made dishes from the Caribbean & other regions that were not authentic yet no one complained.
Please tell me that's not how its supposed to be pronounced. I've been wracking my brain for a few seconds saying to myself, "Aren't they mispronouncing it??" It's a Spanish dish/word, right? Aren't two Ls pronounced as a Y. I might be wrong. I know not all Spanish dialects are the same.
Yes, that's how paella is pronounced in English. It's a Spanish dish so is a loan word ~Pai·eh·luh~ is how the Cambridge dictionary describes its pronunciation. The narrator said it in Spanish at the very start of the video. Assuming you're English speaking, how do you pronounce Bolognese? An Italian friend tried telling me off for not saying "bolo-nayy-zayy" with a strong Italian accent when speaking English lol - it's "bolo-naze" in English Wait until you hear how croissant is pronounced in American English
Swear you aren’t meant to do meat and seafood together in a paella? I know people get very triggered with things not being ‘authentic,’ i think you should make what tastes nice. Having said that she did call it ‘authentic’ and I just don’t think the 2 together would actually taste as good.
The great thing about paella is the crunchy crust that happens when it is cooked in the proper pan . The other thing is you could change the proteins to your liking
Authentic paella is not cooked in a slow cooker, authentic Spanish paella won’t have chorizo, and that’s true, seafood and chicken is not mixed. The most popular Spanish paella is the paella Valenciana and it’s basically chicken, rabbit and pork with green beans, tomato and rice. No wine either.
My pet peeve is my fellow anglos cooking famous international dishes without having any knowledge of the authentic recipe. Chorizo does not belong in Paella. Ask the Valencians.
Great, just call it a couscous dish. The people of Valencia are very protective of their dish, as they invented it. Just like there is no such thing as pineapple pizza lol
@@michellemorgan610exactly! And Paella Valenciana is based on chicken, pork or rabbit, green beans, rice. No wine. No chorizo, no prawns or seafood. Seafood paella is different too.
I definitely went through the 5 stages of grief with this one 💀. Between the pronunciation of the dish and the choice of wardrobe I just -😭😭😭
Oh God... no one let my step-father see this... he's from Spain and he takes pride in paella!
Pie-Ella!!!!
Tony and his case 😂

Have you been recruiting contestants from the local NHS nutfarm again? 😂
4:22 what a jarring tablecloth
paella should not be cooked in a slow cooker.....seems like the very wrong thing to do with that dish...certainly not authentic
Thats not 🥘 paella, thats a spicy hotpot.

It was a mash-up of everything, and bland at the same time.

I'm Valencian. They're in Hull, it really doesn't matter.
Why do Poms use tiny knives ffs
Please don't slaughter me but i love paella with couscous instead of rice...sorry, not sorry! Try it!
It's not paella then, it's just a different dish. No problem with calling it something different

Ew.
