A little care tip I’ve learned along the way is to not let the soil dry out COMPLETELY then proceed to totally saturate the soil. Especially in winter when there’s never enough sun or air flow. Those crusty, dusty, roots can’t take up the sudden large amount of water and it quickly leads to root rot, browning, and a sad plant. I also feel like not totally saturating the soil promotes root growth. The roots have to grow and search a little for the water. Not sure if any of this is true, just my experience.
Thank you for the video. I've got to tell one thing about cacti and succulents. They both need a low level of N2, they need more Silicon and P4, cactuses need Calcium for their spikes. They may be ok with humic acids to some point. So what makes your aroids grow, makes your cactuses rot and die. The real canteen gurus of mine recommend fertilizing cactuses and succulents only once a year, in spring or after a blossoming, or at least only in spring and summer periods, monthly. All other ways are not responsible. It can make them grow faster, but it can also make them extremely weak and vulnerable to everything (and ugly). Cactuses are made for the marathon, not the sprint. And if you don't have enough light, fertilizing is not a help, but a problem for your plants. I like your channel a lot. I have 6 years of experience with cactuses and succulents, and I'm a very beginner with the aroids. I also love plant shopping with you 🤤. Greetings From Ukraine.
Ashley - I have been watching you since I started house plants. I love how you talk about just about everything. I am 74 with bad tremors but I love plants. I have knats , how do you get rid of? Or get rid of some? My plants are small starters. Anything I need to do to make grow other than water, talk to them and look for pests? Thank you
Hi Ashley! I just want to say hi.. I'm always watching your videos.. I used to live in Philippines and grew up with a lot of my mother's plants.. now I live in WA and got me some indoor plants too.. it makes me happy to watch your channel.. ❤
Can you get those clear orchid plant pots, shipped to Canada? I read where it said you cannot, with the soil mixtures, but I am really wondering about the orchid pots, I would love to try them. Maybe you could answer this, in your next video? I hope. I just love watching your channel, but find myself saying, buy that plant you like so much, when you aren't sure. Then you can't find it again. You have given me so much really good information on plants. Thank you so much for that. Keep those video's coming!!!
With all those plants how do you water them? I have quite a number of cacti and other succulents and it can take a while. While i do enjoy my plants, it can take a time to look after them and sometimes i'm just not in the mood. What is your watering regime? Do you start in the morning and just go till you finish?
