michael trejo actually im pretty sure i read somewhere that Karl just forgot to bring the tape recorder with all the sound bytes so they had to improvise with the spoken word bits
OP is right, Proto_Dodo is wrong. Karl assembled a similar sound collage for the blue album version, but it couldn't be used due to copyrights, trademarks etc. so the band hastily recorded the dialogue by Karl, Matt, and Mykel Allan (one of the founders of the Weezer Fan Club) on Rivers' 4-track and had to mail the recording to New York in order for it to be used on the album version.

Pretty cool. These sound a bit more like Pinkerton. More raw, less polished. I think the originals are great and wouldn’t change them, but this is really cool to hear and I like it. It’s ok to like both people, you don’t have to chose a team.
Pinkerton sounds nothing like this lmao when will Weezer fans accept Pinkerton hardly has raw production and stop treating it like a crust punk record.
While they are nice, I like the original album better, because let's face it, that album was mixed to perfection. Some may say over-polished, but I think they sound epic. These versions are pretty awesome, though. :)

@hk47ray yeah...wow, its crazy how much better these demos are...the album is great, obviously, but this definetely has a more "live vibe" to it...Rivers' vocals also sound a lot more bright. love it.
3:45 I really wish they kept the beautiful melody they sung. It adds a more sad beauty to how unraveling the sweater hurts. It gives a sense of how others aren’t alone when it comes to being shafted for being the way they are. Not only that but it just sounds beautiful and fits perfectly to what can feel like a sad song
I'm surprised people are so critical of this demo...I think it's better than the album version...more energy, cool samples, the solo kicks ass, the playing sounds more inspired, just more of an overall passion/raw vibe. True, it lacks studio polish, but in some ways the studio "magic" ruined the song.
I remember the second or third time I saw Weezer live... I was honestly not expecting a whole lot, maybe because my friend was being such a downer, but I got him to come along and we met-up with two of these cute girls we knew. We were all kind of hanging in the crowd and chatting, when everything began to start... and then Tired of Sex rang out, and I'll be damned if a hoard of bulls didn't push everyone in front of them a good 15 feet closer to the stage. This was at the Aragon in Chicago I believe (not 100%- I saw memories there though for sure, I think, cuz I lived down there)... so it is big. But the stage was just rushed and filled with any room there was. Later that night, near the end of the show, maybe even their encore, when they played Undone something told me to throw my sweater since I was pretty close and I was sweating through it anyway. So I took it off and threw it and another crowd member caught it, and got the gist thankfully. He or she tossed it even closer to the stage until someone else got it on stage, and Rivers put it around the microphone stand like a scarf. I wish iPhone cameras were around back then, because it would be a fun memory to get to see again. I have seen some stuff that was filmed by a potato from various shows I was at 15+ years ago but they're very low-fi, potato quality.,,, I wanted to try to get the sweater back, too, but oh well. As the song says: it go, it gone, bye-bye-bye! Great memories... That was a killer show as well, with a great setlist. I think I've heard Undone at every Weezer show I've been to with the one exception being the PInkerton half of the Memories tour. They didn't play it that night from what I can remember.
These don't have Brian in them. Even the final, official blue album doesn't have Brian playing guitar on it, he only does some backing vocals on the blue album. But yeah, this demo came out after the kitchen tape demos.
