In boot camp, when our metal had to be perfectly shiny... we used brasso metal polish... and a lot of elbow dust
Sean you seriously hooked me up! Thank you! You’re a great friend and I’m really grateful you are encouraging me to get my UA-cam channel going. Means the world to me. That 335 is just absolutely killer. And now it’s playing so sweet. Can’t wait to jam it at my gig! Scarred my guitar in a good way.
^^^
Enjoyed your playing man AND you now have a properly lush '335 - (As we'd say here in England)
Best wishes to both you & Sean, from a fellow motorcyclist & multi-guitar owner this side of 'The Pond'
P.S = At one point, I wuz hoping you were going to break into "Red Barchetta" from RUSH !!!!!!!!!!
Man, that's one heck of a gift! 335's sound like a Les Paul cranked up an extra 10%. Killer guitars.
Hey man, love your videos! Been a fan ever since you started the dumpster paul project. I am 16 and want to build guitars when I'm older. Your videos have inspired and helped me a lot!
That neck pickup reminded me of Alvin Lee of Ten Years After. Butter
Just Don't Scrub The Jam Off It !
Have a Great Evening Sean, Cathy,Trey, & Everyone Scarred ...
Live Free or Die, From Pew Hampshire !!!
You should pick up an ultrasonic cleaner. That would be perfect for cleaning bridge pieces and other parts.
Was going to say this. Gets into the nooks and crannies of everything easy peasey
I had a '66 ES-335TD with trapeze and nylon on the bridge, bought new for $365. I loved that guitar so much. When I hit bottom broke, I sold it in a fit of insanity, and I regret that every day.
Best Guitar channel on youtube
Trey ain’t ‘fraid of no Scars
Man! She sounds great. G1 Fellas
It ain't dirty. It's loved!
Cheers from France Sean!
Love your videos and your personality !
Just came across your channel a week or so ago. I'm entry level at best but trying to absorb as much knowledge as possible before I buy my first guitar and sign up for lessons! Thanks for all of the awesome videos
You got this!
Man you just about wore that poor polishing wheel out....
LoL Trey, you're amazing and Sean, you're a great friend!
Hey Sean, I've been watching for a month now. AWESOME work man!
Awesome! Thank you!
Brother love how you tell it like it is no one can tell you what to say about there products keep up the great work I appreciate you
Got to love that salt air. Makes everything nice and rusty.
Sounds AMAZING! After being Scarred and Trey Shreds!
Sean I toured factory in Memphis where they made 335 ‘s in 2015. Awesome to see how they make those guitars
That’s awesome man these Memphis 335s are something else!
I thought the comments would blow up crowning frets with no tape n pickups......😅rock on guys....👍
Only an idiot would say that. Or someone that doesn't have steady hands.
Very nice! Cleaned up well. Thanks for another great video Sean, and Trey. Looking forward to the videos on Trey's channel.
That is a great one. I favor Fenders myself, but that’s a fine guitar. I was here the other day when You two were jamming together. I will say that the blue guitar wasn’t giving away anything to it. I have to say that the blue TeleMaster has mojo! It is strong and you two made some jamming. Thanks yall!
I believe it's Funky Winkerbean that he meant..not witherbean, but the witherbean might be more suited to that guitar, lol. Great vid, y'all!!
Cleaned up real nicely for you!
Sounds 10 times better
The Gibson logo is very expensive to make apparently.
Beautiful 335 , great choice 👌
Amazing job Sean. I have never seen something so beautiful that was made from pallets. Just amazing!
12/12/12 matching pickups. That’s unique. And 12 is my favorite number.
YES! That guitar is now known as Funky Winkerbean!
I picked up a 355 mono and it's basically the same, but a little fancier. It quickly became my favorite guitar because of the range of tonal qualities I could never get with my Les Paul. It does feedback easier.....oh well.
Wow, Trey! That thing is sick! That’s a special guitar for sure. I would love a 335 someday. It’s the perfect combo to play both as an electric or acoustic. Yours is so loud and resonant acoustically, you could probably just mic it up and play a sweet song with it - and then pop the plug in and shred!
🤘🏻🎸❤️🔥
Thanks Marsha, I am truly blessed to be gifted such an amazing guitar. It was always my dream to own one!
@@flintdavis2 typically bridges on gibsons or tune o matic bridges are sharp in the saddles and break the strings there too quickly. So I wrap the high strings over the tailpiece to alleviate some of that tension and make my strings last longer.
Sean the Guitar Whisper 🎸🎸 you’ve really woke the 335 in all ways.
Loved Trey's T-shirt. I live in Spearfish.
That’s awesome! My band toured up to Sturgis the last 2 years to play the bike event! Love the scenery out there!
I just picked up an EART 335 that I stole from a guy for $120. Leveled the stainless steel frets and the guitar sings and the neck feels amazing. While I don't particularly like the way a 335 lays against the body, this one is super light and sounds frickin amazing. If you're looking for a cheap 335 I highly recommend one of these I don't think you can do much better considering the specs.
Wow an awesome guitar, Great job man
Since everything is already grounded to eachother in the wiring, shielding paint or tape shouldn't be necessary at all. As long as its properly grounded and the pickups are potted correctly you're good. I have several guitars with no shielding at all that are extremely quiet even on high gain. My brother in law gave me some pickups out of a epiphone es335 he swapped out because they squealed. I potted them and threw em in a v i made and they definitely don't squeal anymore.
Being a pawn shop find, that's probably not all Trey Shreddings that was removed from that 335. looking forward to seeing his other guitars on his channel, as well as more content here. I wonder how much of that funk was Flagler County 1405 Saloon or Tortugas cuisine & residue between sets ? We all permeate what we eat & drink.
🛠️🎸 hi Sean great name bro enjoying your channel. Glad to be on board.👍🏻🎸👍🏻🎸👍🏻🎸
Rock on!
Maybe you should invest in a small buffer motor. Hit that with some Tripoli on a wheel then Red Rouge on a polishing wheel. And it will be shinjng like new in a few minutes.
If you dont have an alcohol based cleaner, naphta (zippo) fluid works just as good, if not better, as it also evaporates. Its also safe to use on notrocelulous finishes too.
Awesome guitar bud
I finished up a strat this afternoon
My wife said “is that gonna look better “?
I showed her after a few hour of clean up and set up
She loved how it came out …..
Can’t beat sweat equity on any old guitar
That is awesome!
What a difference makes with some tlc! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
No amp, it sounds killer. Really good sounding guitar.
I landed there!
Holy Snikees that bridge p/u is smoking hot but smooth, absolutely wonderful tone! I'm w Trey on this it would've sold me too! Great licks too btw.
The Shielding is for the 60 Cycle Hum of the Single Coil Pickup's. If I'm not mistaking. Wasn't it Winkerbean ? Always wore that Band Uniform LOL.
Lookin good and Sounding Good Too.
It's so funny I have the exact same guitar from the same year with the same burst and everything. My story is almost exactly the same I went to my local Guitar Center with a bunch of money to blow and played every high-end guitar in there and it was the last one I played and new it was the one the second I started hitting chords. It's my favorite guitar I've got a dozen and none of them come close to that one
That’s awesome man! you know when it’s right as soon as you strum it.
Sweet sound!
Almost 35k! No way! 👍
"Finger Cheese", as Trogly calls it. Lol
Gibson ES-335s are great guitars. When I was playing blues in the 90s, I had a great 1995 model, but I sold it. I recently splurged and bought a Limited Edition Blueberry Burst. It's fantastic.
Very Nice Video Thanks!!
Talk about funky smell… I bought a used Gibson midtown custom for dirt cheap, amazing sounding and playing guitar… but it has perfume infused into the nitro. I can’t get it out… ozone, Naptha, nothing. Been sitting out on a stand for 3 months still out-gasses when it warms up during playing.
This channel has inspired me to attempt to strip and refinish the beauty… gathering the equipment and the courage. :)
Generally (there are exceptions), humbuckers don't need shielding.
Does it still smell Sean? ….. lol just kidding that cleaned up awsome
Damn Trey...don't you wipe the guitar down after a gig before you put it in the case? I'm not talking about a real cleaning job like sitting down on a Sunday afternoon, but just a quick wipe down after each show.
Man I usually do, I have a microfiber cloth in the case but the funk really sets in there.
I save all my old toothbrushes to clean fretboards, too! With Magic Nomad's F-1, it cleans up quick.
love the videos.
they cost so much because Gibson marketing determines what people have been and are willing to pay for them in order to keep up with their supply and consumer demand. Not very difficult to understand
This was cool.
That neck pickup is sweet
Hey Shawn (my apologies if I chose the wrong spelling of your name). is that a Fret Dagger that you are using to crown those frets? I have one and the thing that sets it apart from all of the others that I know of is the fact that rather than being a diamond grit thing scratching the living crap out of the frets. it's actually a very fine quality file in that hollow so it cuts the fret meta rather than scratches and gouges, making for less sanding ( I prefer micromesh pads and a Dremel with felt wheel as a finisher) for buttery smooth feeling frets that shine like all get out. Has that been your experience with the Fret Dagger as well? I don't know if there's anything like it on the market. It was definitely not cheap, but it was a great investment for me. I've been watching your show for a while now, I like your down-to-earth approach. At first, I thought you always played those same chords every time because maybe you just loved power ballads by Poison, but then it dawned on me that those particular open chords will ring out super ugly if there are intonation issues with the bridge saddles or the nut has been incorrectly cot like no other quick test really shows. I watch closely, you have a wealth of great real-world knowledge here that you are generously sharing here for those who are paying attention, and I appreciate it very much, so enough key tappin" time to watch the rebirth of a beautiful 335 happen! Cheers!
wen i was a kid i thought that the semi hollow bodies wer kinda lame, then my dad brought a 355 sterio home from work i ended up liking it way more than i thought i would.
If you use a little simichrome on that top horn it’ll come right back to life.
Shielding is important not only from poor waxed pickups, but also from being an antenna for outside interference. Gibson does a better job because of the metal outside shielding wire compared to rubber shielding.
I make my own with paint and powdered graphite. 😉
Trey rips 🔥🤘❤️
I think maybe the pickup dictates if it needs shielding. I dont know. P90's are noisy in my experience. I've got one i need to try shielding i dont know if it will help.
Man I love those hollow bodies they sound great
P.s. i use 3 n 1 too... but i mix a little graphite mixed in... if your nut is whute, and want it to stay white lol X the graphite 😂
Does Cathy know you were using her toothbrush?
I used avacado oil lol.. Lasts Forever. Soaks in deep.
Keep up the videos ! 🇺🇸👍🎶
I'm no expert, but shielding is to keep radio frequency off the guitar. Especially in Europe areas back in the days before digital signal frequencies
What type of tool were you using to polish the metal?
@marlan3rd That tool is a version of a dremel tool. A very high speed "drill" and a buffing wheel with buffing compound. Hope that helps homie.
Nice
Try brasso on your metals next time. Way better at cleaning metals. Shielding blocks interference and hum from itself and outside sources. I make mine powder graphite mixed with acrylic paint. 😉
🕟🏄👽gonna be 2lbs lighter after cleaning 🤣
I think he doesn't clean it because he knows you will ! Haha!
Shhh 🤫 😂😂
I know Funky Weathebean (?) LoL
Didnt he say he was one of the top 10 Air Guitarist in the world!?? 🎉😅
That beautiful guitar is filthy
LOL. side by side on my feed, you get a 4K Gibson and Trogly got a guitar off Temu
Why does one of my guitars have lots of sustain more than the others? It's an Ibanez SASFM32, set net, 22 fret Humbucker.
pickup distance to strings
Dude has some seriously acidic sweat.
A clean mean Machine rkon
You don't need shielding for humbuckers.
That’s not true - you’re confusing electronic interference with 60 cycle hum. Humbuckers buck that 60 cycle hum, but they won’t stop electronic interference and/or microphonics. They’re all different things.
It’s not really the pickup that is the problem where electronic interference is concerned - from cell phones, computers, plugs, etc. It’s usually the wiring causing that interference issue with other electronics, and that’s why shielding might be needed in the cavity. If you hear noise, the pickup is only involved because you’re gonna hear that electronic noise through the pickup - but it’s not the actual pickup that’s the cause of the problem because pickups are simply converting string noise via magnets and then that noise signal is transferred through the wiring all the way to the amp.
Some wiring is fine without shielding, like Sean said. A great test is to hold a cell phone near the pickups and pots where the wiring is connected. Make sure the cell phone is on and the guitar is connected to your amp. If there’s gonna be a potential issue, a cell phone WiFi or Bluetooth radio will definitely set it off. If you don’t hear noise from a cell phone, it’s very unlikely that you’ll need shielding for other electronics. If you start hearing radio noise through the pickups, then you’ll want the shielding.
I don’t know if I’m explaining this clearly, but that’s more or less how it works. I hope I helped you understand what you seem to be confusing! 😊🤘🏻🎸
Bee n wachin you're channel, why do you wrrap the g b e around the tail peice?
Once, during a show, a fan that really enjoyed my music vomited on my pedalboard.
What kind of music do you play?
I need some new fans.
Best comment ever! Lol
That's a purdy guitar
AMWAY metal cleaner works best and easiest.
❤❤❤❤
👍👍👍
Funk-a-Smell-ick
I hope that isn't Kathy's toothbrush...😅
Guitar cheese mmmm
Heavy tarnish? Brasso!
Because it says Gibson on it lol.
Gibson doesn't shield hardly any of their guitars. There isnt a need the vast majority of the time.
shouldnt be necessary with humbuckers in general.
