This TV miniseries was an EVENT in my Italian-American household in 1977. I was only 5 , but I remember everyone there, Parents , aunts and uncles … being shocked when they brought Christ out with the crossbeam on his shoulders. The cast , the direction , the score … everything still holds up today.
When I saw Jesus walking towards Pilate with the crown of thorns, that scared me - I was 11 , my classmates laughed, but how could you not be speechless at such a sight ..

This movie is very special for me. I have watched it since I was a child. I´d rather like the teachings than the nativity or his death and resurrection. Today since it´s free to watch on youtube I watch it more or less ten minutes, different parts, specially chapter II and III, because despite I know it´s a mini-serie made by the ITC and Franco Zefirelli, I feel in my soul that I am in the presence of the Son of God. It is like Robert Powell and all the rest of the cast were born for portraying their respective characters. Greetings from Argentina.

Yes, he was. I loved it when Pilate arrived and found the streets of Jerusalem in an uproar. He stalks in and is met by one of his commanders, who says, “Welcome, Procurator.” (This guy looked rather nervous and apprehensive.) And Rod Steiger’s Pilate hit the roof: “Welcome? WELCOME??!!!?? I come here and I find this AND YOU DARE TO SAY WELCOME???!!!??” Loved it!

I love how Robert Powell, Jesus, shakes his head as no sir. You don’t have any power of me when Pilate, Rod Steiger, states what type of power he has over him to release him or crucify him.
Directed by Franco Zeffirelli as was "Romeo & Juliet." He cast his Juliet, Olivia Hussey, as Jesus' mother Mary. His attention to costumes and scenery in both are pure perfection.
My God how he suffered for all of us ! I cry when I see him hanging on that cross for us and suffering so much for all of us when most on this earth don't even care about him ! He saved us from sin but yet the people still have evil in there hearts ! Unbelievable! How they put evil before him ! He never smiles through the whole movie, I am pretty sure that if he were a real human, he would have a few laughs! And have some fun... And yes I gave up believing 5 years ago.
The image of Jesus 22-23 minutes has always stuck with me. When I first saw it at Easter 1978, the image frightened me, and yet now, I realize by His Glorious wounds, we are healed, and mercy has been given to us sinners through an immense expression of love. Jesus be merciful to me , a sinner!
It's a nice tale. Beautiful, but misleading. Jesus was not from Nazareth but a Nazirite. Jesus really lived, died and rose again, but in a different way and for a different reason....

I assume some parts have been cut from the original film.The footage doesn't show an important fact that Jesus was pierced right after he died, then blood and water came out of Him. Even Jesus said to 2 of them, "there are those who say yes to God but they do not do his work". My God how he suffered for all of us ! I cry when I see him hanging on that cross for us and suffering so much for all of us when most on this earth don't even care about him ! He saved us from sin but yet the people still have evil in there hearts ! Unbelievable! How they put evil before him ! And how The Blessed Virgin Mary had to suffer watching her son being crucified on the cross !How horrible it must have been for her! I can't even imagine ! It all makes me cry cause he ask for nothing but to except him and love him how hard is that?Couldn't be easier !Holy ,Holy,Holy To The Most High !Amen!
