I was only 5 , but I remember everyone there, Parents , aunts and uncles … being shocked when they brought Christ out with the crossbeam on his shoulders. The cast , the direction , the score … everything still holds up today.
When I saw Jesus walking towards Pilate with the crown of thorns, that scared me - I was 11 , my classmates laughed, but how could you not be speechless at such a sight ..

Today since it´s free to watch on youtube I watch it more or less ten minutes, different parts, specially chapter II and III, because despite I know it´s a mini-serie made by the ITC and Franco Zefirelli, I feel in my soul that I am in the presence of the Son of God. He stalks in and is met by one of his commanders, who says, “Welcome, Procurator.” (This guy looked rather nervous and apprehensive.) And Rod Steiger’s Pilate hit the roof: “Welcome? WELCOME??!!!?? I come here and I find this AND YOU DARE TO SAY WELCOME???!!!??” Loved it!
When this mini-series was filmed, it had one of the greatest international ensemble casts ever assembled. It also had the Vatican supervising it's theological content.

Rod Steiger was a brilliant Pilate.
Yes, he was. I loved it when Pilate arrived and found the streets of Jerusalem in an uproar. He stalks in and is met by one of his commanders, who says, “Welcome, Procurator.” (This guy looked rather nervous and apprehensive.) And Rod Steiger’s Pilate hit the roof: “Welcome? WELCOME??!!!?? I come here and I find this AND YOU DARE TO SAY WELCOME???!!!??” Loved it!
They are all brilliant in this film.

When this mini-series was filmed, it had one of the greatest international ensemble casts ever assembled. It also had the Vatican supervising it's theological content.

The image of Jesus 22-23 minutes has always stuck with me. When I first saw it at Easter 1978, the image frightened me, and yet now, I realize by His Glorious wounds, we are healed, and mercy has been given to us sinners through an immense expression of love. Jesus be merciful to me , a sinner!

Even Jesus said to 2 of them, "there are those who say yes to God but they do not do his work". Jesus was clairvoyant in that he knew what was coming to him and yet forgave them when nailed to the cross.
