Amsetting here in Ohio behind my desk watching you drive through my West virginia mountains and am very homesick--am old now 67 and mom and everyone are gone so sad in my heart for my hills. Born and raised in Glen Ferris. The bible says=="look to the mountain from whence cometh thy strength" and sure wish I had some mountains to look at. Thank you for video!!

Janet, you're not old. My nephew in Fayetteville took the video for me and several others. One that may interest you is titled 'Fayetteville, WV over Gauley Mountain to Glen Ferris and Gauley Bridge' . I think it runs close to an hour. Glad you enjoyed this one. I know what you mean when you say you miss being back home. I am in Texas

Going to my grandparents house in Minden back in the 60-70’s was my favorite memories growing up. This turn down the mountain was my favorite. I knew at the bottom, a few houses before the first little bridge, my aunts would be waving to us on their front porch. You turn right over that bridge and everyone would be running out the back porch, with bear hugs. My twins aunts Margaret and Mildred never married, they took care of my grandparents. During the summer, the house was full. Every July 4th my uncles would set off the best fireworks, he came down with a car load of fireworks. Now thinking about it how crazy it was. During the Me and all my cousins would walk the railroad tracks ( that were right in front of the house) to the company store and buy ice cream and a cold Dr Pepper. Every morning my aunts would start their daily cooking with biscuits, I can still hear the floured glass scraping the table. Everything was homemade and delicious. There were two dinner sittings, I chose to sit with my aunt at the 2nd sitting. At 9 I can remember how proud they were watching me wash dishes, no paper plates back then..I loved them like a mother. At night they would read to my cousins and I,I made sure I got to lay next to my warm aunt. We had no AC but the nights were cool and breezy. On Sundays we all would walk to church (I believe it was in this video), everyone on the way knew my aunt’s. Sitting in church listening to dear old Mrs Siphers singing above everyone, we would start the giggles. I could feel my aunt Mildred body shaking holding in her laughter, made my cousin Janet and I have to cover our mouths shaking. One look from my other aunt Margaret was all we needed to try and have a straight face. They both were so wonderful to me. My aunts would make hard and peanut butter pinwheels candy, they let me help. I have a love for cooking to this day.
Mornings swinging on the porch as the fog was still lifting on the mountains with my grandfather. He would tell me scary stories about ppl on the mountains.
My mother left me at 8 years old, she never picked me up for school. Going down to my grandparents was like having two moms. Forever in my heart are these memories. I could go on.❤
