      We did survive and now we know that if we had to we could earn some money to put back into our savings by doing this. Safe travels!

    Glad you survived the gate guarding job! At least you can say you made it half way through. You seem to be much happier and Jess sweater if there’s such a word lol! Hopefully something better might come along. I will hope for the best for you both. Safe travels and see you soon! Have a great week. And weekend.

      We survived and like we said it wasn't awful it just wasn't for us. And maybe we give it another go for a different type of gate in the future... we will have to see. As always thanks for following along on our journey. Take care!

    Glad y'all survived the gate guarding adventure!! Honestly, it don't sound like a lot of fun since you basically can never go anywhere together. Toni and I like exploring as a team! Safe travels!!

      We did survive. We knew it was going to be an adjustment with being on different shifts and not being able leave together but it was harder than we thought. Like you guys we enjoy spending time together so it was very hard. Safe travels guys and we hope to catch up with you while in SD.

    Heather and I are with J&G also and on day 92 straight and have another 10-14 days or so to go on this gate. Then see what happens from there. Loving Life, the Confers

      J&G was great to work with. We give you total props for doing it so long in a row. That is a long time being tethered to one spot. Good luck to the rest of your journey and safe travels.

    We are on our first gate with j&G. It will be two months july 10th. We like it. We do 6 hour shifts so we aren't spending to long out i nthe heat. We have shade tent and fans to keep cool. We are on a dirt road 5 miles fro the main road. Lots of dust. The wirst think is that the closest grocery store is over an hour away. We only go once every two to three weeks.

      Everyone at the the worksite and company was very nice and helpful that is for sure. I think for us we tended to work together a lot so unless we were sleeping we really were both on shift so it didn't really matter how many hours technically we were "on" but everyone definitely has to find what works for them. Glad it is working out for you guys. That does stink about the distance to the store, that was what we were afraid of so we stocked up but then ended up being close to a store.. you just never know.. Safe travels and thanks for following along!

    I am surprised they don't provide potable water with expecting such long shifts 24/7. Wouldn't be that hard for them when you think about how easy it would be for them to provide it.

      They did provide water on the trailer along with a generator and dump but the water had a weird chlorine/bleach smell so we opted to just use for shower and toilets. It could possibly be ok for drinking, they never said though. Thanks for following our journey!

      We are glad that we tried it and like we said we won't say it's out of the question moving forward, we would just be pickier on the job assignment. Safe travels!

      There was definitely an adjustment period and it wasn't exactly what we thought it would be but it was an experience.. who knows we might try a different type of gate at some point... you never know. Thanks for following along on our crazy adventures!

      Each assignment varies and can go on after a team leaves. Our assignment was still ongoing when we left.

    Gate guarding is not for me. 24 hour shifts 7days a week. Couple hundred $$$. Less than federal minimum wage no overtime . 🤷

    • @thisisouradventure
      @thisisouradventure  3 місяці тому +1

      It definitely isn't for everyone. Even though the pay doesn't feel like enough for 24/7 and being on completely different shifts was harder than we expected, we will say everyone we worked with was very nice and helpful. Thanks for watching!

      @@thisisouradventure guess it’s ok if you just want to rack up some $$$ in a month or so and can put up with it 👍

      @thisisouradventure  3 місяці тому +1

      Exactly.

    • @DaveDrawing
      @DaveDrawing 11 днів тому

      It's all in the math...
      $200 per day = $1400 per week.
      $200 per day x 30.41 days = $6083.33 per month.
      If that was broken down into a regular 40 hour work week, it's equivalent to $38 per hour.
      Assuming you both do 12 hours a day, you're not working 24/7, you're working 12 on / 12 off.
      Sure, it cuts into the together time, but if you're trying generate income it's not the worst way to make it.😁

      @@DaveDrawing yeah it works for what you need it to if that’s what you need is quick money but otherwise it’s a lot of time for little money
