Bill Maher and comedy legend Jeff Ross randomly riff on why comedy is hard in Paris, the Olsen Twins love of comedy, the need for guns in America, Bill’s movie pitch starring Jeff as a badass, Jeff’s very special Rodney Dangerfield artifact that Bob Saget left to him, Jeff’s London tour with Chris Rock and Dave Chapelle, Bill’s surprising take on the Will Smith slap and how Jeff is afraid on stage, how the U.S. military is the biggest corporation in the world, and Jeff’s deep reverence for being a comedian.

Today I learned that Jeff Ross is a super polite and patient guy!
Jeff did an interview on The People's Party on UA-cam. He talked about being in Manhattan on 9/11 and he took shelter with Dave Chappelle and his family. Pretty interesting.
He doesn’t want to be an asshole.
Today I learned Bill Maher is an even more condescending prick than I thought. Good god what an asshole!
He should play Mario.
for real. how hard is it to pass a joint and lighter?
I'm here because of the genius parody Tim Heidecker did of this episode.
Dudes an unfunny hack. Why do random people like him so much?
This is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. Some of the most awkward stuff ever 😂😂😂😂
Jeff Ross is the most mellow, level headed comedian I think I've ever seen. Respect him even more now..
@@gersonpierce3250 agreed! 🤣
Ya totally...I hear he likes to run down water slides covered in vaseline though and wearing a bikini
Bill always offer weed, and then he forgets to pass the joint. It makes me anxious!
It's his Bogart impersonation..
100%
I do same thing honestly cause 90% of time I smoke by myself
He usually offers them their own joint from what I've seen.
@@57gord nyuk nyuk nyuk
Jeff deals with Bill's "Billness" in such a zen manner. I learn...I learn!
Pretty much the only thing they agreed on and found some common ground was rodney's pipe. bill's alright until he starts talking about things he has no interest in and doesn't understand, so he just shits on them. like music and most sports except baseball.
@@galacticcaveman4045 Silly Billy
@@galacticcaveman4045 Yeah man...sorry..."Caveman". You're right.
“Egomania” lol
But he was right about comics being so sweet to each other, what happened to the old Kennison/ Dice Man, Rogan/ Mencia style beefs? well there's the Schneider/Oswalt nobody knew about
Bill literally tortured Jeff by offering and then bogarting his "clove cigarette" all to himself, then Jeff finally says something, so Bill proceeds to scold himself for being a terrible host, takes out a J and ends up never passing it 😂. Monster patience on Jeff Ross, he's clearly not from Brooklyn.
lol 😂
He tortured him with literature son
So your saying there's a chance? Puff puff pass 🤣, calm demeanor is funny.
HAHAHA top tier comment
...for being a terrible _guest_ ?
Bill, get a grip! Your guest is correct with the Will Smith discussion. You flip flop when you're stoned. Jeff Ross is right....nothing should excuse Will Smith's actions.
Thank you
He knows that, I think he was trying to say Will is an emo pussy
Agreed. And everyone knows the slap had zero to do with the role he had played. Will is in a sick relationship with a narcissist, and I think his own mind is kind of broken.
Bill said multiple times he's not excusing the slap in this very episode. He was just saying he can understand Will being overly emotional. Although I wouldn't blame that on the movie role more than Jada's "entanglement" and other general domineering of Will's soul on the reg.
Poor Jeff dealing with a host who just rambles and gives his opinion about everything
Too many nights are like that any more eh? 🤷🏼♀️…✌🏼🇨🇦
Do you think Jeff is surprised or any other guest? If you know have watched his shows it's par for the course.
He's giving away the solutions to the world's problems.. FOR FREE!!
I agree. Bill is always struggling to try and be a step above his guests. He’s just not. Jeff Ross is the stud that Bill will never be. (he’s gonna make Bill look like a chump in Hawaii, Lol) Everyone already knows Bill‘s opinions… Pipe down so we can hear Jeff’s and learn from a sage instead of his crotchety “I’m getting old and freaking out” Bill Maher ramblings.
True, and annoying, but he is high as f@ck, so we gotta cut Bill a little slack.
Bill’s last concert was Christopher Cross. My grandma said she seen him there. And he was wearing the same shirt.
Bill was roasted from the get-go on this one. He's holding out on Jeff's doobs forever and his take on Will Smith is nonsense. but I'm liking it!!
Hehe yep
Green Day too.
But I think it’s the first time I’ve actually seen him try and make his guest a drink. Most of the time he makes his guests serve themselves.
@@HH-gv8mx His guests (especially the women) usually turn down the drinks.
@@HH-gv8mx So, on how many occasions has he(Maher) _failed_ to make his guest a drink; after "trying" , that is?
Hint: '...try _to_ make...'
I’m learning through these podcasts that Bill is much more ‘conservative rich guy’ than I thought.
Much more than he realizes too
A complete gate keeping, lack of real empathy, “sexist and sexually depraved right up to the line of cancelable behavior but staying just shy of it” jerk and his own stand up shows that he promotes incessantly here SUCK and half the audience walk out.
He's an old liberal. Deal with it. I mean Christ he was a kid in the 60s. I remember watching his original show in the late 90s. His movie cameos and comedy in the 80s. 2-3 generations removed. And your kids are gonna think you're a conservative or square someday. It's inevitable.
He is only in relation to this Woke era.
I couldn’t imagine a concert with Jeff Ross, Chris Rock, and Dave Chapelle. What a trifecta
I can't believe Bill was ripping on Punk. I lost a little respect for him, he's turning into a bitter old man
Bill has become so preachy! Selling guns and won’t take no for an answer. Who knew????
Day 45 of asking Bill to change the name of the podcast to “What Were We Talking About?”
Yes!!!😂
26:21 lol. Bill is showing us he no idea how to smoke weed out of a pipe. The hand position totally gives it away. He's not holding the carb when he draws. Impossible to take a hit that way.
And he uses an old-fashioned butane cigarette lighter which sucks for weed.
To see how guests deal with Billness is what makes this show introspectively interesting, even if it is accidental by design.
"Club Come over to my house and listen to what I think about what you should do." Is what this ought be called.
Bill, The Adulting special on HBO was terrible. Old mediocre, material, done in a stale atmosphere. I was shocked he was still doin the same stale talking points.
Jeff looking like a closeted detective at the bar after a long day of interrogating perps. {{EDIT] I feel the need to point out that I typed this comment BEFORE Jeff mentioned being mentored by Newark police detectives as a child @13:20. It's all adding up now
Bill wakes up every afternoon and says to the mirror...."Mirror, Mirror on the wall; who is the smartest of us all?"
Bro, Jeff said yes he would like to smoke some pot and you never passed it. Lmao
This was driving me fucking mad during the whole podcast.
Congratulations to the cameraman for taking the best Jeff's profile: from the back. And focusing all the time on the grumpy ukulele player with the Hawaiian shirt. 😁
"camera guy"? lol
I love that Jeff is so chill and relaxed yet he still makes time to roast Bill's shirt.
Kinda bugged me that Bill didn't give it up and laugh at Jeff's joke. It would've killed on stage for Bumping Mics or Celebrity Roast.
@@dcool2u2 I don't think Bill is much of a listener - more of a wait-to-talk guy. Or more accurately, he talks almost constantly, regardless of whether or not someone's in the middle of telling him something. Jeff's patience here is astoundingly impressive.
@@Jalex_Owns I agree. As much as I like him and like this pod and watch Real Time, I get annoyed at how he seems to almost yell at his guests. I get the sense that they start to feel belittled and afraid to state an opinion on how they feel about anything.
Especially in this pod where it's supposed to be so chill. I mean he's smoking pot and drinking for goodness sakes.
I love that you love that
Jeff was a good interviewer and a listener (really good listener, what a human) in this one.
Really, would love to see some space for him…and, hear Jeff….but, oh, well. Come back soon. Good luck next time
I’m only 6 minutes in and I can tell Jeff Ross is annoyed.😆 I feel like people who are friends with Maher have to take him in doses. lol. Bill would drain your energy fast.
bill is super smart but very ego centric and a snob
Bill and his pontifications never end. Obvious Bill knows little about the Sex Pistols and their role in Punk Rock. Jeff was pretty cool about the whole thing.
Bill Maher was just being opinionated about his taste in music, he just doesn’t like the sound of punk rock.
i have a gun. i hate guns. they scare the crap out of me. but not having one scares me even more.
Hi. I read the comments before deciding to watch. The USA obsession with guns is a drag. Your take is only necc bc u live in America. I m assuming canada will eventually b rotted to the core where citizens will feel like u. I ll b dead
Gawd Damn… Bill is just so confrontational with EVERY guest about EVERYTHING. I can’t even watch this.
Jeff Ross is the nicest celebrity I've ever met. Saw him hanging back at the bar in a theater in LA to see Bridget Everett. I avoid taking to celebs because I don't want to bother them. My ex made a B-line. Ross was so casual and friendly.
Bill, pass the f*cking joint already!!!! Here's a clue, when a guy comes over and is being taped, it's a good idea to get him relaxed right away. What a bad host.
I like the Random podcast format: Bill interviews Bill and occasionally takes a breath. Great guests coming soon! 🙄
SCAM
Oh come on, Bill. Like there's no traffic or lines to the bathroom at baseball games or comedy gigs. Look at how long it took him to remember the last concert he went to. His interest in music is the same as his interest in guns. He could live without it but accepts that he might need it every once in a while. You're not a music lover, Bill. It takes a lot of talent to come up with new material using three chords. Isn't creativity measured by working with limited material? Stick to politics and comedy
^Fuckin fax man 💯
Haha your take on guns is so ridiculous -- Americans are so uneducated and brainwashed that your politicians' fearmongering has worked to a T. You legit think you need a murder weapon, you know, just cause, you never know when you might need it (*ignores every statistic about gun deaths compared to other industrialized nation). Yeeesh
The worst thing Bill could have done is a podcast. He’s so annoying that you can only take him in short bursts. According to him he knows everything and everyone else is wrong. Never realized how annoying he can be!!
Bill totally exposes his old man'ness with the music discussion. "Good ol Benny Goodman could swing" "The Eagles..."
The Eagles are such dogshit lmaooo talk about simple, repetitive bowl movements
Bill does it whenever he talks about anything nowadays. He is becoming the "Get off my Lawn" type if he isn't already there.
@@madgreek253 For sure, he doesn't like hockey and talks shit about it but watches baseball, like stfu Bill we get it you're 70
@@madgreek253 so get off the lawn already, loser.
A lot of people have their music preferences fairly set in stone, to the types of music they liked to listen to from teenage years to around their late-20's.
Oh Bill, keeps failing to pass the smoke, pushes gun ownership, slams London Calling as repetitive punk (it's not), blabs over Jeff constantly. Total dork, Jeff deserved a better interview.
Jeff Ross is so much cooler than I thought he was.Very level head and a super calm demeanor. Its nice to see Bill with an actual friend who won't pander to Bill if he doesn't agree.Best podcast yet imo, thanks Bill.
Nice convo Bill seems chill with Jeff and Jeff is calm and Bills natural punk ass remarks tickle Jeff he finds him Bill Interesting. Cool friends
I don't know Ross much except I've seen his roasting moments that were IN-CRED-I-BLE!!!!!! He is maybe the funniest man I've ever seen (yeah, even MORE than Chapelle, I'd love to see them both in a performance). Great interview so far :)
wow are you paid to comment this filthy propaganda? because if you're not, you are a sucker
Man, Bill has some embarrassing opinions on music. Maybe he should stick to talking about Gone with the Wind. BTW, I just saw the Chili Peppers a few rows back at a sold-out stadium show in Philly and I absolutely agree with what Jeff Ross was saying -- in times that are extremely divisive it's truly one of the last communal acts where you truly feel connected and on the same page as everyone else in attendance. Plus, they put on a really killer show...was phenomenal. I have a couple recordings of the show on my YT channel if anyone wants to see what I'm talking about, the energy from the crowd was just wild.
I was at the show too and the peppers were beyond amazing!
This whole interview is just making me love ❤️ Jeff even more!
Same. I always liked him but he seems like such a sweetheart in this, getting all sentimental and whatnot. Sounds like he'd be fun to hang out with. Bill on the other hand, sounds exhausting to hang out with 😅 dude needs to chill and let his guests talk once in a while
Come on Bill you can not call yourself a stoner if you using a Zippo lighter to light a bowl. But glad you took the red pill.
I Think Bill is too high this episode, he's so judgmental he sounded like a fuddy-duddy. Almost like a bratty tone like what the other person was saying was ridiculous because it was a different opinion .
Jeff was a sweetie!
Bill 🍄🍄🍄 with a shamon. Even though you already know everything just do it!!
I sure hope, if Bill ever watches this, 💁🏼♀️ he’s totally embarrassed, by what a huge pot hog he was tonight!..🤣😆🤣😂…good thing Jeff brought his own shit!..yikes!..🫣…✌🏼🇨🇦
Jeff Ross is a fucking king.
'king' _of what_ ?
Jeff did a good job of changing subject when bill gets stuck
"you tried to sell me a gun an hour ago" that was great.
Jeff Ross is a wonderful human being and always has been. I am so glad that he is living his best life… All the way and embracing everything he can. It’s only even gonna make him more wonderful.
now with a mustache!
A CR podcast where Bill does most of the talking, how unusual o.0
These podcasts are starting to dim my appreciation for Bill. Stoned or not, if someone lets you use a pipe owned by Rodney Dangerfield and Bob Saget, you GIVE IT BACK after taking a hit! And he has to be asked to share some pot! Christ, this guy couldn't be more full of himself if he tried!
Damn Bill! You shit on everything Jeff likes. Lol
Has jeff looked at his watch yet?
I waited those 15 minutes like Jeff did.
Bill got too buzzed and started talking crazy. You gotta be self aware of that. No one wants to admit it when they’re high. Lol
And the worst official take on the Will Smith slap situation goes to…..Bill Maher
I remember at one roast, Ross targeted Carrot Top when he was on the juice by saying, Carrot Top is here, "Dude you look like the incredible hack!" LMFAO
Wow.. Ross totally outclassed Bill here. Maher comes off as a grumpy old ex-counter culture “I got mine” snob (whose weed etiquette sucks btw!) and Jeff stays classy and cool the whole time.
"Be careful with this, it's very valuble to me'
Bill grabs pipe carelessly, looks like he's going to drop it, fails to take a hit, chucks it on counter.
"Can I get that back?'
Bill casually puts pipe on bar instead of handing it back.
Talk about Pearl Jam!!!!
I'm digging the 'stache, Jeff!
I knew Maher was a square with his views on punk. He’s out of touch with his audience considering the Clash is one of the most political bands ever!
Bill interviews Bill while being Jeff Ross adjacent. Still good.
Agreed and it’s hilarious
Check ✅. Good for sure, could’ve had some balance…jesus, mohammed, and buddha
oyfg, I read this and actually laughed aloud. That takes a lot. Thanks.
I'm guessing it was a really strong egostrain he was smoking.
This take us like half or more of the comments on virtualy every episode..you would think by this point people would just accept that this is the format of the show and stop saying " bill talks too much, interviews himself, Yada Yada but I like it great show" ..so that you can just say " I like it great show" and enjoy ut
Jeff why didn't you tell him he was hitting the bowl wrong lmaoooo
He was? Lol
Time stamp it.
@@DAVIDTORRESANI @26:30
I look so forward to these podcast. Like I did as a a teenager waiting for the postman to deliver my Columbia House cassettes to my cul-de-sac. It's silly.
I appreciate all the conversations & laughs. Thank you.
Jeff Looks like he’s Hiding from
Crockett and Tubbs .
They both look like they got the “Smugglers’ Blues”.
Such a chil format - love it. But I think the main reason why Bill should get married is that he needs someone who tells him how great he is on a daily basis.
Well I don't know about that, Bill Maher seems to do that pretty well on his own. There is nothing more than Bill Maher loves than listening to Bill Maher talk about Bill Maher
@@captadampetersentotal
bachelor- narcissist, ha ha. Me
me me
Bill looks more and more like Hyman Roth every episode.
lol!
I keep thinking he looks more and more like Larry King.
Can't believe Bill doesn't love the Clash, Sex Pistols and Ramones. WTF. First time I've harshly disagreed with him. I agree with Jeff. Bill Maher IS punk rock!
For someone who prides himself on being so "daring" and "radical" I find Bill Maher remarkably old fashioned and staid. Smoking a J on tv is not my idea of being daring....but hayho....this is America. Third world country, God, racism, eye watering health costs and all that.
Considering he hates a musical genre as daring and radical as punk rock
The crusade against Punk Rock @27:45 is very telling & the lack of intellectual curiosity is equally disappointing. If punk isn't your cup of tea & is clearly not in your wheelhouse, why not follow Lincoln's advice & remain a silent fool?
Damn, Bill... Your take on punk was painful to listen to. The Clash is redundant, 3-chord noise? (Paraphrasing)
Painful.
Jeff your understanding of the common man, shows so much when talking to a man sitting in his Ivory tower who did not know of the largest transfer of wealth during covid. Pass the joint chatty Kathy
I thought Larry King was interviewing G Gordon Liddy.
It’s a huge kill when Bill calls people “sweetheart” and “sweetie”.
passive insult ...mf wouldnt like this if someone would do it to him i tell you that ..he would make remarks ...bignose lil rat
I agree. It comes across as condescending.
Bill shot his gun one time lol that gun isn't gonna help you buddy
In this episode of Old Man yelling at a cloud, Jim Ross tests what he learned from meditation.
Wow, his take on punk is the epitome of “get off my lawn”
His take on Punk is correct. Luckily, The Police abandoned music for mouth breathers.
One of Bill Maher’s most indefensible takes putting greenday before the clash. And then naming two of the worse GD albums when there are greats like dookie and nimrod.
I'm with Bill on this one. The punk rock scene is more about the attitude and nostalgia than the actual music. The music itself is very simple and lacks variety.
You are a show. You have commercials.
I like Jeff Ross… but not always, but I think he’s great in this interview! YouToo Bill!😎
Hes like an angel compared to this blobfish asshole
Noam Chomsky doesn't like music. As much as I find that man brilliant, I'll never understand this lol.

Yeeesss! Love these guys! You should do a Roast Of Bill Maher 🔥🔥😁
I bet weed through Rodney Dangerfield's Pipe make everything funnier 🐓💨💣
Jeff is so right concerning punk rock as movement; Bill sounds like an old man who knows allways better...
I guess BIll doesn't know alot about what makes Eddie tick. I wonder if he even has listened to Pearl Jam?
He probably thinks smells like teen spirit is a weezer song
i like this pod better when theyre sitting in the couches and not standing at the bar
Bill... You gotta listen to Bad Religion, or Lagwagon or the Adolescents, Descendents even NOFX... Punk rock is AMAZING, high quality music and the lyrics in all those bands are very very good

I will never understand Americans and their obsession with guns - or how they don't feel "safe" without one. This would never come uo in conversation here in Canada.
Bill doesn't like music. That tracks.
Great show again, Jeff was a great guest! I was hoping you guys were going to mention Norm lol

Jeff Ross should have brought up Iggy Pop and The Stooges. Surely Maher couldn't argue that isn't a great band Green Day turned Punk Rock into punk ass pop. It's strange Maher doesn't understand that style of music or how important it was. In a way Maher is very Punk Rock poitically in his beliefs. He is sort of a punk rock liberal himself.
Jeff is hipper than I expected. Great to sit in a Great Conversation.
Ross is looking good despite the lip stash
I wanna feel that balanced. Wow. Just a good human. Would love to hear what he has to say
Omfg bills punk take is so insane.
I see Jeff Ross as a cop on a beat with uniform but Training Day style/ "Colors" playing the RobertDuval part.
Good lord Bill, never talk about music again
Had no idea Bill’s a card carrying NRA member. He’s quickly becoming my fave lib. 👍
Bill has spoken of having guns for 30 years. You must be a new fan.
It's simply that " Libs " are more sophisticated than right wingers in the sense that they don't blindly commit
to what the party dictates .
Lots of libs have guns. Millions. Tens of millions. They just don’t spend time advertising
@ozmartian Nothing wrong with showing support to fellow gun enthusiasts. It’s a right every American enjoys.
Except he is not a nutty NRA member, he just owns a gun. There is a difference
