    Thanks for this video. I didn’t know monitors like this existed. I think it would work for me.

    shame the cables exit out the side and not back

      I've now fitted right angled adapters to the USB & HDMI cables which help reduce cable clutter.

    Neat device, at first I thought that would be great as a touchscreen as a quick launcher or certain controls, then realized you weren't touching it, and probably didn't actually do touch. Then it seemed a bit pointless.

      If it supported touch that would have been ideal, but as a place to locate something I'm monitoring, or a clickable control deck it's ideal.

    This is sweet!!!! ive been looking for something like this.. high end media streamers how high end audio setups use have nice touch screen displays like this and cost 1000's... i wanna take something like this and take my high end dac and mount in an enclosure with a small computer inside connected to a display like this! make my own media streamer for a couple hundred vs spending $1500+

      This particular version of the monitor isn't touch screen, but Waveshare do other models that are.

    If you're interested I have 12 volumes of my 1920x480p fractal flames on my channel that would be perfectly sized for this monitor. Each volume has up to 201 videos.

      Apart from the occasional issue with having to disconnect and reconnect the USB (at the hub) I've not had any issues with this display. As long as the little On/Off button is pushed in it should function.

    Does it come with any software to display CPU and GPU temps?

      No this is just a small HDMI monitor, so you don't need any special drivers to connect to it. But any application that'll display on a standard monitor can be displayed on it.

    Hi, every time I turn on my PC I have to unplug plug again the USB cable, for it to work, do you have the same issue?

    • @custompchardware
      @custompchardware  Рік тому

      I've had that a few times, but not every time. I have the monitor plugged into a USB hub which has switches, so I just push the switch off then on again to reconnect. I'm not sure yet if it's an issue with the monitor or the driver software.

      I just ordered one and I have the exact same issue. I just sent them a msg about it. I have the 7.9 touch LCD and it does not have this issue. It turns on and off with the pc. The only way I get the 8.8 side monitor to turn back on it unplug the usb and plug it back.

      I haven't tried that yet, but could be an optimal use for it

    does this work with mac?

    • @custompchardware
      @custompchardware  11 місяців тому

      I can't answer that one as I don't have any of the apple computers, and macOS isn't mentioned on the Waveshare website. It does say that Windows is supported as well as Raspberry Pi OS / Ubuntu / Kali and Retropie.
      The monitor does have a full sized HDMI connector and supports 480x1920 or 1920x480, depending on your preference.

    Looks a bit chunky

    • @custompchardware
      @custompchardware  10 місяців тому +1

      It's small and therefore doesn't take up much desk space. I've lately added right angled HDMI and USB connecters to allow the cables to feed backwards; thereby taking up even less space. The screen is fully enclosed in the case, which is better than some other small screens I have seen.

    I don't need to use the build in speakers, right? I just want this little guy to be able to control Apple Music, Discord etc, so i still can get the sound through my Sound system, or?

    • @custompchardware
      @custompchardware  4 місяці тому

      No you don't need to use the built in speakers. Many monitors come with build in speakers but they are usually very small and you're always better using larger more capable speakers.
