These kind of races are the best, intense stuff.
I know it's not enjoyable for you Matt, but I enjoy when you are at the back and move your way up. This race had it all. Spins, One Empty Box going round the outside, and the line of the race, "This gearbox can die in a fire"
+Dave Roland Nah, I do enjoy working my way up, it's really fun. Except for the whole "ending up in that position in the first place". There is a reason for the "quotes" there - yet to be revealed! lol
I mean, I'll rage at a slow guy trying to keep his position when resistance really is futile, but that's heat of the moment stuff. I mean, I can't really blame him!

Great race Matt, loved watching you fight back and was sure you had it in the bag on the last lap! Surprised the undies soiling near miss didn't make it into the carnage report though.

I was in the true racer stream. It was crazy to see the spin from his pov. You had a good race 2 as well despite qualifying screwing you over.

Havent raced in like a year due to this ridiculously minor leg injury, which hasnt affected my life EXCEPT that it hurt to use the pedals on the simrig.. go figure. But I just got everything set up last night, downloaded the newest updates and such.. Man its nice to come back to all this new shit. Nurburgring, Audi R8, Mercedes AMG, TWO new formula cars including a 2015 F1 car.. Just really awesome shit. Cant wait to get back out on track and lock in some laps!
With the first gear thing, you kinda CAN grab it in La Source. I use it occasionally to just get the car turned in that little bit more, and quick shift up as Im coming on the power. That being said, its a risk. Mistime it and you bounce the limiter for at least half a second more than you should. But the rewards are usually worth it, the punch out the corner is great.

Watched this race live on True Racer's Twitch channel, really good to see it from another perspective. Glad you're back to regularly uploading iRacing videos.... it's been a while! :) But what happened to the GT Legends series?

I did exactly the same thing at the start through Eau Rouge. Car on the right, going wide, span it on cold tyres. Such a rookie mistake, but I guess we're sort of rookies in this car :P
in regards to laptimes, this car seems to be much more thirsty than the Star Mazda so there's a lot less fuel at the end of the race versus the beginning. I've noticed surprisingly large straight deltas on the straights from fuel load.
Really like the feel of this car, would be great to race you one day EmptyBox

Did the exact thing in eau rouge, lap 1 in my first race. Except instead of missing everything I ended up taking out 2nd place and myself...

In respect to the guy that went 7 tenths faster on the last lap, I go faster under pressure and/or following someone, the most extreme case being 3-4 seconds faster than my quickest lap inn qualy. cos yeah, I have absolutely no idea how that works. good race though. want part 2:)

empty box dx11 is supposed to use more gpu but i noticed it uses all of it so if you cap your framerate lower than what u have it at you will have a little more gpu left for higher graphic settings
Are you going to continue the indycar leagues at some point? Because, not nearly enough iracing youtubers run on the indycars, it's mostly nascar and GT.

If you got through the bus stop and la source a little better it would make so much difference up kemmel. You are fast through the 2nd sector and lose everything you make up at the end of the lap. Being in the slipstream on kemmel would allow you pick off a lot of people at les combes.

Those three corners are throw away corners when closing in as like you said, the draft is huge. No point at all pushing when you just need to be kinda close to be in the optimal place to pass from. Laying further back out of La Source gives you a bigger run down the straight to ensure the pass is as easy and decisive as possible and prevents you from getting re passed.
10:30 is a demo of why trying to make a move in the Bus Stop / La Source is largely pointless.

only running 1 mirror definitely helps with DX11. 1 only run virtual now also.

What was the track temp at? I ran this in a league race on Thursday, and I was running high 16 to low 17s on a 27C track. I'd imagine I'd be on your pace had the temps been the same.
+SMauler9 Can't remember, but it was 74 F / ~23 C, Mostly Cloudy Afternoon, so probably about the same as your track temp.

I just started IRACING and I'm just wondering if you have to buy much content to get to the higher levels and higher series?
+Fugi4527 No you don't need to buy that much, you can just focus on one series for each license level.
I would love to know if in all the racing platforms that you race on. Is there one that as the old IMSA GTP cars on it from the 1985 to 1992 era? I would love to see online racing with these cars!
+Adwitt2001 Sadly, nothing modern. R3E will be adding some IMSA GTO cars in the future and there is the Celica GTO for rF2, but obviously that is a whole different ballgame!
Closest thing would be Virtua_LM Junior Team's GTPC mod, which is focused around Le Mans 1983, but with a few extras. But again, obviously a whole different ballgame to the late era GTP cars or the 956/962s with customer upgrades.

Max Verstappen did a move exacly like yours around the Blanchimont and everyone loved it, even though considering he went off the white lines technically it was illegal...
When Grosjean did the same 2 years prior he got a penalty for it, instead of the overtake of the year award. double standards.
Why disable side mirrors? I never get why ppl do that, because how important are they. :-) lets hope mr.box can answer this :-)

+Cheleah27 This car feels very sharp. You feel everything through the wheel, and you get a lot of little jabs as the car strikes bumps, as it is very stiffly sprung.

Why don't the mirrors work and have to rely on a virtual mirror?
Recently been considering subbing to iRacing, but lack of realism (mirrors) and flawed penalty system as demonstrated in this video are very much putting me off.
He mentioned turning off the mirrors to improve FPS. The real mirrors in this car are fairly useless anyway due to their size and general concave top to bottom skew.

+Large Style If there is any sim that actually has proper mirrors it's iRacing, really is. Proper FoV from them, car in the rear view mirror, visible and good quality, adjustable... Like I said, frame rate plus the fact I can't really see all of the mirrors to start with in this car, let alone most of the other cars where that problem is 1000x worse.
And if you want a virtual mirror, it also has an adjustable FoV. Not to sound like a fanboy, but iRacing's mirrors make everyone else's mirrors look largely amateur, sadly.
Safety Rating means absolutely nothing. It's a mind trick to convince you not to hit sh!t, which is what you should be doing in the first place. If you don't hit sh!t often, it's pretty much something that is in the background and that is that.

Thank you kindly EB for your reply. I'd be playing with a 21:9 display so perhaps mirrors might be more visible - I'm just not a fan of virtual elements within a realistic sim. However, it sounds like iRacing covers all options very well so I'm "down with that".
Thanks also for clarification on the Safety Rating - I was annoyed to hell to see you get penalty point for leaving track due to accident avoidance, so if that happened to me I might just lose the plot. As long as that stuff remains in the background then I suppose it'll be tolerable.
Just need to work out if iRacing looks "fun" to me - I don't mind behaving and being "professional" like, but I also would like to enjoy it and not stress out too much. Guess I'll give it a trial and see.

I absolutely detest virtual spotters on road courses - it's nonsense. If people can't use their mirrors and be aware of their surroundings, they need to stay off the track.
