Stevie Wonder wrote this song when he was 14 years old. Jesus... Can you believe it? What a genius. You should also listen to his recording of this song.
This is my favorite Aretha Franklin song, and that's pretty amazing with all the great ones she has done. I love the laid back tempo and the sorta shuffling rhythm throughout. Just a terrific song IMO.
Definitely my All Time Favorite Aretha Franklin song with "Day Dreaming" .. shout out to "Wholy Holy [Live]" and Music from the motion picture "SPARKLE" (1976) + the duet with George Benson "Love All The Hurt Away"
One of the best produced records ever. Brilliant instrumentation and backup singing and maybe Aretha's most soulful poignant rendition ever. My favorite by her.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I like you saying what year released. What can anyone say about Aretha that has not already been said so many times. Great song featuring her amazing talent. Her feel for music/ song, ease, beauty of delivery and range of vocals, interpretation. What an amazing artist.
Not only was it written by Stevie Wonder but he recorded it first. It wasn't a hit in the sixties, but he knew it was a good song, so he gave it to a better vocalist! Wallaaaa...a number 1 song by Aretha!
Great song! This one and Daydreaming are two I love by her for the vocal ability-lead and background!!! Great review! And you are so right about Luther Vandross. He had such a great ability to take a song, cover it and make it his own. He did it with Dionne Warwick and The late great vocalist Karen Carpenter on her song Superstar.
Aretha Franklin - Ain't No Way [1968] - Is a GEM of a composition: Powerful, raw, smooth, and a complete Knock-Out of a HIT, it is believed that CeCe Houston (Whitney's Mother) provides the soaring background vocals... which brings-chills to all who hear it. Have you heard it yet?
This song takes me back to my crazy youthful days in the 70's when I fell in love with this girl that I dated once and then she moved from CA to NV. I begged my mom to let me take her car and drive out to see her, and I ended up driving all night through snowy conditions until I arrived at where this girl was staying. Found out she had already taken up with another guy, broken-hearted I drove back to CA only after taking a two hour nap. Thankfully I didn't kill myself but a lesson was learned from that experience: don't go running after a one night stand all the way to another state! Anyway this song was playing at least a couple of times on my trip! lol
Angela, beautiful....I wish this song on you....that you find you're love of you're lifetime unless you already have it! Lol.... God, bless this beautiful soul with another human being that is wonderful to her as she is....to everyone else. And God, get my health better so I can continue watching!
This and Daydreaming are my favorite Aretha songs. Amazing to think Stevie Wonder wrote this song WHEN HE WAS 14. Love them both. There is a great video on YT of Aretha singing this while Stevie is on keyboard. Watching them perform together is magic. Thank you for this. 👏👏🇨🇦
Slice of PERFECTION. The first set of CD's that I ever bought was for my Mother, on her birthday; she was always an Aretha fan (and I came-up hearing her). This song, and another (which I may suggest for you) are such stellar examples of The Queen of Souls' untouchable status.
I love, love, love your reaction channel.....your reaction to some of these songs are a joy to watch.....I am from the Aretha era, 75 years old and that era was the best.....thanks in your choice of music.....stay happy and keep sharing and reacting...
The original was actually recorded in 1967 by Stevie Wonder who co wrote the song with Morris Broadnax and Clarence Paul but wasn't released till 1977 on the anthology, Looking Back.
Nice pick. Great that you let the music play, not constantly interrupting with some inappropriate comment. You are definately into and appreciate the music.
Jennifer Holliday doing "And I Am Telling You" live from the Tony Awards is a great suggestion. Lisa Fischer doing "How Can I Ease The Pain" live from Japan from 1992 is another great vocal performance. Both are transformative.
you would never have never known that there was music that was way better than the stuff made today, not your fault you were born a long way after me,i lived through all of these great songs first time around, long before the days of auto tune, carry on your good work,at least you let them run and don't stop them every 30 secs like others
This is off subject: I just started enjoying your reactions. I went back to the beginning and loved your discovery of the BEE GEES. I have listened to everyone of those reactions, since the BEE GEES are one of my favs. You have never gone back to the beginning. in 1967/68 they were one of the most popular bands in the world, many many hits. Mostly all were featuring Robin's voice, it was before Barry started using his falsetto during the mid 1970' (disco era) I would like to suggest a few songs from their early years. I've Gota Get a Message to You 1968, Massachusetts 1967, Lonely Days 1970 and I Started a Joke. Love your content. ua-cam.com/video/gC4Eq_FZQRw/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/I3w1LaLVq8Q/v-deo.html
"Until You Come Back To Me" by Aretha Franklin will definitely get your video a 'like', Angela. You want more 'like's, play more great songs like this. I also like listening to Basia's version. She has this on her London Warsaw New York album. I believe you'll also get a lot of 'like's from "Daydreaming" by Aretha Franklin reaction video, Angela. Have a blessed day.
This is a absolute classic from the late great Aretha Franklin. For the longest time, I thought this was the original song until I heard Stevie Wonder version and his version of the song is actually the original one that he made in 1967 and he was one of the writers of this song. I did read that he originally wrote the song for Aretha Franklin.
Song is really too good, Luther did an excellent job on Stevie Wonders “Creeping” as well. Some of both of their best work. Stevie Wonder is my favorite artist, Luther is up there in my top three or five for sure as well as male vocalist go
I need to comment on your reaction to T,Trent Darby's, "Sign your name". Terrence never impersonates any other performer. like most other performers, they are all influenced to some degree. Look into his past and you'll see he is an original genius in the industry.... Way ahead of his time!! P.S. love your channel though.x
Aretha 's version was a huge chart topping hit, but the original version was performed, written by a young Stevie Wonder (motown did'nt really promote it) I love both versions, and Luther really uses it as a intro to his version of "Superstar" (originally by The Carpenters (the great Karen Carpenter singing), a lot of history and talent related to this amazing song.
LOL You made me laugh talking how you had never paid attention to the lyrics before, but now realize they're a bit "stalkery." That's my experience, too, although with this Aretha version, not the Luther version. I had listened to this song for *decades* before it occurred to me one day, Holy Toledo, she's a stalker!
Aretha is a Legend, I love youre reactions to many songs especially sad & romantic songs,You wear youre heart on youre sleeve.I dont know if you have checked out The Osmonds, especially the official video for Let Me In,I think you will really like it,Highly recommend you check it out please & react to it, you will not be disappointed.
The Little Genius Stevie Wonder wrote this song. Aretha is the Second Genius at Atlantic Records. The First is Ray Charles and Third was Donnie Hathaway. Just Like Luther Vandross they were amazing song Arraigners. Can You Please React to Mrs. Aretha Franklin's "Day Dreaming". The Song was about lead Singer Dennis Edwards of The Temptations. Whitney Houston Mom's Cissy Houston did a lot of Aretha Franklin's Background vocals.
Hi Ms. D., This Song was written by Mr. Stevie Wonder.. Also Ms. Basia does a great cover of this Song, in fact She has a Cover and a ReMix of the Cover.. ♠W.G.
I really hope you get a chance to react to her duet from 1987 with George Michael, "I Knew You Were Waiting For Me" and hopefully you can also play the video. The two of them sang so well together and this is one of their best songs. You are awesome Angela!!
Luther Vandros’s version of until you come back to me isn’t a cover of this song but instead a cover of the Carpenter’s song Superstar (until you come back to me). Just thought you should know 😊
I would love for you to check out some songs you may have not heard.1st My Morning Jacket Touch me I'm gonna Scream, Nora Jones Chasing Pirates, The Fuzz I Love You For All Seasons..
Love your videos. Let me suggest something Old & Something New. Old first in it's time it was called "Abino Soul" Two of the most gifted musicians who happen to be brothers. I LOVE WATCHING YOUNG PEOPLE LISTEN 2 OLD MUSIC.
Stevie Wonder wrote this song when he was 14 years old. Jesus... Can you believe it? What a genius. You should also listen to his recording of this song.
Stevie Wonder wrote this for her. He wrote and also recorded it in 1967.
Respect to the backing singers ❤❤❤❤❤
This is my favorite Aretha Franklin song, and that's pretty amazing with all the great ones she has done. I love the laid back tempo and the sorta shuffling rhythm throughout. Just a terrific song IMO.
Mine too! Love it. Did you know Stevie Wonder wrote it?
She is definitely one of the best Soul singers of all time! This tune is among her best!
I absolutely love Aretha. My favorite female singer (RIP)
An absolute classic - one of the best performances of one of the best songs....ever.
Indeed. Goosebumps
true, and this is something to be said about pretty much everything aretha did during the atlantic years.
A classic song written by a legend (Stevie Wonder) and sung by a legend - the Queen of Soul - Aretha Franklin!
I’ve always loved this song, thanks sung by a legend
Definitely my favorite Aretha song...among many.
this gal gets it. she knows how to do a reaction vid... no stopping, no comments during... you just get to SEE her discover it.
One of her best along with Say a Little Prayer and Chain of Fools
70s is my favorite era of Aretha. This song and Day Dreaming are my two favorite songs of hers.
One of my all time favorites. The syncopated phrasing, the interplay with the backup chorus, and the jazzy instrumentation just kill me.
Definitely my All Time Favorite Aretha Franklin song with "Day Dreaming" .. shout out to "Wholy Holy [Live]" and Music from the motion picture "SPARKLE" (1976) + the duet with George Benson "Love All The Hurt Away"
The One and only QUEEN of Soul Ms Aretha Franklin ❤️ ♥️ 💙 💖
This lady made this song truly great! Thank you Aretha.
What can you say the queen of soul belts out this beautiful tune and as a added bonus Stevie wonder does a excellent version of this too.
One of my favs from her I love it
RIP Luther and Aretha .🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️
Such memories ❤️❤️❤️ OMG. Made me shed a tear.
One of favs by Aretha. Chuck Rainey’s bass and Bernard Purdie’s drums just drive this song!!!
Her early soul years were magic
Not too early. She really developed quite a bit on this song. more 70s suave. It's totally sick good. Should be illegal, in fact.
I absolutely love this song! Takes me back to middle school. Written by Stevie Wonder, by the way 😉 and yes it's a stalker song 🤣
Didn't know that, but it sounds like one of his songs.
Damn, you missed out on Aretha's heyday from the 60s and early 70s.
Not only was it written by Stevie Wonder but he recorded it first. It wasn't a hit in the sixties, but he knew it was a good song, so he gave it to a better vocalist! Wallaaaa...a number 1 song by Aretha!
I never thought of this as a stalker song... but... you nailed it.
I love this song, always have, always will. Btw, the song was written by Stevie Wonder.
How can you go wrong with that combination? You can’t!😊👍🏼.
Those backingvocals really are so wonderful. A strength in more of Aretha's songs.
I've said it before...Aretha was more than the Queen of Soul...
She could sing in any genre..This is fo sho...❤ 🎶...
Aretha and Linda R is all you will ever need. The song of the week!

A Masterpiece !!! Doesn't get any better.
I can see you enjoying yourself on this, that’s the same way I felt when I first heard it during 70’s,I still feel that way when I hear this song 😂😊😅❤
Wow, what a lesson to learn, sorry bro.

The original version is by the composer, Stevie Wonder, and it is from the 60s. Her cover completely elevated it.

Another great song written by Stevie Wonder. He was baby when he wrote this one. He was 14 or 15 years old.
I really hope you get a chance to react to her duet from 1987 with George Michael, "I Knew You Were Waiting For Me" and hopefully you can also play the video. The two of them sang so well together and this is one of their best songs. You are awesome Angela!!
Uh Ryan, she already covered that song some months ago- just do a UA-cam search - put dayone and song title.
Luther Vandros’s version of until you come back to me isn’t a cover of this song but instead a cover of the Carpenter’s song Superstar (until you come back to me). Just thought you should know 😊

You need to hear BASIA'S version of this song.
That’s the version I think of when this song title comes up.
