A stunner blue. It's much more blue-er than my intense blue shell. It's a 10!

#stunner -- I'm glad that we made the shift to denim blue for our wallets. I can see the darker blue shades (intense blue and navy) being more appropriate for footwear. The denim blue might be too "loud" for shoes and boots

Hi Phil. I'm just now discovering your UA-cam channel and I'm really enjoying it. Your products look amazing and I think it won't be long before I'm a customer. The various Horween leather is just beautiful. I have a question I hope you can answer for me. (I'm still learning about leather in general). I have an old briefcase from Saddleback Leather and they market their leather as "chrome tanned" leather. Is "chrome tanned" leather the same as "Chromexcel" or are they two different types of leather or different types of tanning? What makes them different if they in fact are? I really appreciate the education on Chromexcel leather. Thank you so much and I look forward to chatting more on your videos. Keep up the great work. Mike

hey, MTobin1000! Thanks for your message and this is a really great question. The short answer is that Chromexcel leather is chrome tanned with a vegetable retannage. All Chromexcel is chrome tanned but not all chrome tanned leather is Chromexcel. Chrome tanning is a "modern" way of binding the fibers of leather together in the tanning process to make the leather strong and resilient to heat. I interviewed a leather chemist about this topic of chrome tanned vs vegetable tanned. You may get a lot out of this conversation (I did!) Here is a link ua-cam.com/video/v9GYlDJsw4A/v-deo.html

Do you find stamped leather more attractive, or natural markings?

This is a great question. I strongly prefer the natural, non-printed texture. Having said that western print on the shell cordovan is one of my favorite things to look at so I guess it depends. The prints are just a little something different
