I won’t say that they had no skill, but at the same time the F16 has a radar gun sight man. It can be iffy with a slippery opponent but I find it to be accurate enough. Kinda disappointing.

fun fact, the head of the luftwaffe towards the end of the war actually used the 262 and mainly used it as an interceptor due to its exceptional speed compaired to bombers and the guns that were used on it, including the 50mm anti armor gun that could pritty much break a wing before you could say "bandits" if you had good aim.

As far as I am aware, none were used operationally, and if they were, I highly doubt they ever would have hit anything. 262 pilots lamented their closing speeds with enemy bombers, as it gave them such a small window to shoot that it led to far fewer kills than one might expect. Knowing this, I can’t even imagine how difficult it would have been for pilots to use the 50mm. Case-in-point: If it worked as well, some version of it would’ve seen use post-war. The closest we got to it was the single 37mm cannon on the MiG-9 and MiG-15, which was specifically intended for taking down US strategic bombers. It was so difficult to use that pilots whom were exceptionally skilled with it in-training were awarded a special title, “Sniper Pilot.”

Honestly, while I find it cool to do these vs matches, the first round was obvious. The 262 can't climb. It's engines are atrociously bad (in RB) and with the enemy getting it's missiles back every few seconds, not a chance

@mfil92 sniper pilot class qualification was created in 1971 so it definitely had nothing to do mig 9

It's so easy to dogfight 4th gen jets in 1st or 2nd gen jets. You have a smaller turn radius because you are slower when at max speed.
