  • These are baby wild rats I picked up out of our compost bin a few days ago after their mum ran away. I'm trying to raise them by hand. Baby rats can't retain body heat, especially before they get fur. This is one method that seems to work OK
I'm going to load some progress videos as they mature, so you can see whether they make good pets or not

It´s so kind of you to take care of these wild rat babies, and arrange so they can stay warm. Rats need all the love they can get. Rats are persecuted everywhere in society, just because they´re rats. Wild rats are homeless! Thanks for that there are kind people like you, who care about rats.

Awww...they're in the "popcorn" stage where they get so excited to see you come to feed them!

It pleases me to see and hear your goodness and kindness toward rats and their small children. I get so happy and touched when kind people like you, committed to rats. All rats need love and care, it is also true wild rats, and also rat pups. Thanks for being there!

They are so adorable! I really respect the fact that you're trying to help them as well, as a lot of people would have just killed them. Good luck!

I agree with you guys that rats should not be considered vermin, it is sad that most of us humans stereotype these animals because of something that happened hundreds of years ago, and at that could have been transmitted by another animal

Let me rephrase what I said: It is awesome that you may be breaking a law to help one of the kindest creatures in nature.

Are you saying no rats should be kept as pets? After all, their ancestors were all vermin years ago

It is good to help animals, and I love rats, but isn't it illegal to keep vermin?
