that callback to season 1 when lenny said the same thing about doing stand-up - that was one of the most delightful moments from season 5 for me and I am SO glad you put that it in here. Amazing edit. I am such a huge fan of the song and the couple
Touched by this video, touched by Midge and Lenny . Amy and Dan did the best, kindest, and sweetest ending for our beloved couple. We all know that Lenny overdosed and died at age 40. The focus on MMM was the sweetness, caring, love , friendship and support that Midge and Lenny had for each other. The specialness of their relationship. Hats off for letting us hold on to this in our sadness. 💖💜❤️💕
@@sammarx2600 Lenny Bruce was a real person who was also portrayed on the show. The real Lenny Bruce died at 40 so I'm assuming he does on the show too
The scenes in weren’t bad but they weren’t enough. It was cheap. When their chemistry brought SO much to show. Easily could have brought that as well as focus on midge and Susie. Even as it was they didn’t really show dev of midge and Susie except for teasing a fight it happening and then moving on Pretty quickly. Never actually shows them apologizing or making stuff right. Just oh well we’re still friends
They deserved a few more scenes together this season. I loved the last scene together but mostly they just opted to drop Lenny from most of the season instead of torturing Midge I guess. It keeps things more kosher for the audience, but it's not really realistic. If you loved someone who was addicted, like Midge clearly loved Lenny, it's not just out of sight out of mind all the time like they portrayed it for the most part.
Lenny Bruce kept himself hidden in his addiction and died of overdose therefore their relationship arc is spot on.Sadly.Bravo to show creators for keeping the "real" character real and not changing history as Tarantino did with Sharon Tate.
I get what OP is saying, but we also don’t know how long he was in California this season, which, apart from an occasional letter where she probably would not address the issue, would have made it difficult for Midge to stay connected with him enough for that this season.
Yes!!! We were all cheated. By they were doing something so different with the flat seaon, I understand why they didn’t show more. It was really about midge and her career. And midge and dust-I mean that’s kind of the point she sacrificed her whole life including kids and family and almost sustainably for her career. That is the midge we saw since season 1. It’s just we liked to pretended with her and the show that it was better or happier than that, but it wasn’t. That’s why season 5 was like it was. But yeah I just wanted another insular happily final season with more of midge and Lenny and her career taking off for real. They could have still shown and implied the cost to her kids without all the weird time jumping stuff. Like just be her on the show, kids forgotten again, more Lenny, and whole drama with mob and susy and ex husband, but just have all that resolve in that time not in wowed time jump future.
I only know Lenny's work and have only seen a couple of episodes of this show from Season 1; I'm such a fan, and I'm just so happy that he got "resurrected" for this show, I had no idea he was this big of a part of the show, I thought he just kinda floated in and out of it. I put up a video a couple of years ago with some heartbreaking audio of Lenny being harrassed by cops backstage, basically warning and threatening him with arrest right before he goes on. Bone chilling stuff. Here, I'll share it with you. Poor Lenny tries his best to argue the law back to the cop but they got him boxed in. It's from 1964-65, right near the end. ua-cam.com/video/St74ibCIC5M/v-deo.html
also lenny bruce is based on a real person with the same name so i think they might of found it distasteful if they included his death in the show like that
Lenny Bruce died in 1966, and they flashed forward to his penultimate show in 1965. Susie going in to see what a wreck he’d become and confirming to a nervous Midge that he was falling apart, *was* Midge’s reaction- in her eyes he was already gone. She had already seen the heroine in his hotel after they hooked up and she looked uncomfortable as if that was a reminder that their one-night stand would be the one night. No romantic relationship could occur between them. Up until then, Lenny had been a sort of fairy godmother figure to Midge, popping up when she needed a wake up call or encouragement. After the Blue Room, Lenny goes back to that sort of figure- they get Chinese food together, he gives her the pep talk at Carnegie Hall, they have one last farewell in the airport. Midge knew in 1965 that Lenny was careening towards death, and chose to only have those memories of him in his prime instead. She does have Susie look out for him, but they both know his eventual death by an overdose is a foregone conclusion. We didn’t need to have Midge’s reaction to his death, or see her and Susie’s reunion- we’ve seen them fight and make up over the seasons, or hers and Joel’s story, etc. it would have weighed down the season. The season was about Midge, her breaking big, and the trajectory of her and Susie’s careers; the flashes of the future we got of Rose, Abe, Joel, Esther, and Ethan, were enough closure as each of their plot points could have been an entire season’s arc and bogged it all down. We have seen 4 seasons of Midge juggling her parents’s expectations, Joel, her kids, etc., now is the time to focus on how Midge and Susie got theie big break
Sobbing crying throwing up they deserved the whole world
And then some. 😢❤😢
"Maybe someday" that episode is perfect
Just makes me wanna cry that they didn’t end up together 😢

These two have my heart

Refresh my memory...when did we learned of Lenny's passing?

Lenny n Midge deserved more.. sad story & he was her biggest cheerleader 😢💔
Aside from Susie, of course.
One of, if not the most, authentically beautiful coupling on television
they have my whole heart.
God I didn't realise all the parallels. Some were clear from the start but the way you cut this together was beautiful. ❤
Woah! They even framed the bailout the same. Props to the behind the scenes.
Please never let me get over them😭
Im not ready for this love story to be over.
This hurts the most
Yes, nice catch with them saying the same thing about doing stand up!

He does come back in Season 5, so I'm told. For one scene. Enough to get the point across.

GREAT EDIT!! THANK YOU
I'm in tears.
Oh my, these two
God I love them so much.
I'm laughing and crying right now and I haven't seen season 5 yet!
I’m crying. 😭💖💙
As intense as their relationship was, I’m glad they ended the way they did.
I love the song
they
I wished she walked in in 65
Ikr. Why didn't they make that happen?
I like it, idk what show but I like it a lot.
The Marvellous Mrs Maisel. Lenny and Midge are simply everything and Luke Kirby killed this role. The man deserves every award.
Great montage!
i was so hoping they'd rewrite lenny's fate, but it was not to be

Real life hurts
great cut. I just wish the music was not louder than the words.
great job. great video. great couple
They should have shown her reaction to his death just before going on the GF show and making her debut. ASP missed a golden opportunity.
I think the timeline didn't make that possible because he died a couple years later I believe

Saddest part is Lenny actually died in real life to overdose
Music is too loud, but otherwise well done.
The music is a bit much but I love what I am seeing.
I'M NOT SOBBING, I SWEAR
5:19-5:37 Did he just tell her he loved her?
I have no idea. Couldn't hear anything over the loud music.
Not in those words, but yes 🥹
