I don’t think 20% is a good enough discount to break a No Buy but is nice if you were needing to restock skincare or basic products. The Sydney Grace Sale makes sense but I would think about setting some kind of ground rules for purchasing so it doesn’t get out of hand. There will be another opportunity to purchase next year and you do have a large collection of beautiful palettes and products.

Will I be able to get this on sale later? It's my birthday season, and normally I get a little spendy, but I haven't seen a whole lot that I'm tempted to buy. I'm sure once the birthday offers start showing up, I'll be doing more browsing, though.
The Natasha denona palette can totally wait since it’s permanent. Use the retro palette in the mean time, play around with making it out of singles, swatch in store, shop your stash etc. Then if you decide you do definitely still want it, put it on your wishlist. It’ll be a great gift to ask from someone since it’s not too pricey x
Just saw Morgan Turners video on the ND mini Rose palette. She did do comparisons with the old shades. She said if you have the Retro palette you don’t need the mini Rose. I have the Alter Ego Harmony palette which I believe is a dupe for the Retro. But the mini Rose is so pretty. So tempting! 😊❤️💄
I am passing on mini Rose because I have Retro and not into the spring or summer palette from Sydney Grace, so in the clear so far, lol. The only one that had been tempting me in Golden. Yes I have a million tan shades, but I do love her monochromatic pallets and the packaging looks so special! Her summer pallets go on sale at some point, usually half off, so maybe that is when I'll get Golden???
I used to always fall for the sales and coupons, but in recent years they have lost their hold on me. I feel like most things that are newly released are just slightly tweaked versions of things we've already seen before. And odds are pretty darn good that they will send you another coupon in a few months.
I had the same delimma, the ND eyeshadows, Fenty highlighters, and Rare beauty blushes were on my wishlist for the sale. So I duped my existing makeup and lost the fomo to buy anything apart from the Fenty highlighter and the Natasha Gold palette. Also my makeup preferences does not line up with the current hyped items (I hate anything in gloss/balm/cream, I don't like the glass skin trend and if anything is not transfer proof it get tossed). In the last 5 months I only bought 3 makeup items and only replenish my 4 skincare items. I would only weirdly watch negative reviews on new products to prevent me from wanting anything. 😂 Deinfluencing videos are my favorite on YT.
Ulta is completely on a mission to destroy their superior rewards system in my opinion 😂 I’m not a high spender and they have stopped sending me the 20% off coupons when most people get them. And their latest sale I saw they did 10%/15%/20% for the different tiers like Sephora does. Lame! Come on Ulta everyone agreed your rewards was your one saving grace vs Sephora and now they are completely stepping that back? That can’t be good for business…
Ulta doesnt send coupons anymore either. I noticed as well. I didnt buy any makeup until June and my saving grace is I will be on vacation when the Sydney Grace sale is happening so if I dont end up with stuff im ok. I love the mystery bags are amazing.
For the SG sale, I am going to get more brushes for sure, and maybe a few eyeshadow singles. The 2 palettes that have revealed so far are nice but I don't need either one. I may try their bar soap, I think they were going to experiment with bringing soaps back which is what they used to sell long ago. That may be it for me but we will see.

I'd buyed some really cool toned palettes from Indiebrands, colourstorys without gold, pinks and other warm tones and the palette from Lethal Cosmetics from the Avatar Collection in blue, the water one. That is enough for me. I was tempted by the Cooltrals one from Cosmic Brushes and the one from Blend Bunny, the Longing palette. I have had sephora Canada send me coupons before! No exceptions so I used it once and most of the time I ignore it. I say save your money and buy some new SG! I am planning on picking up a couple singles and maybe a palette and more eye brushes as they are great! Honestly why don't you shift it to a low buy with rules that work for you? I think you are doing great but maybe it's time. You can always go back on a no buy if you find yourself tempted.I am doing well with my low buy except eyeshadow but I have been sticking to my rules and feel like the ones I have added are smart purchases.
How long was your no-buy originally supposed to be for? 5 months is pretty far in. A six-month no-buy might be a good goal, for example, and you can make it! The Natasha denona palette will still be there, your 20% off may still be valid, and the Sydney Grace sale will come around again.
I take breaks if a sale or clearance is unbelievably good. I took a break when Makeup Geek was closed and their single shadows were less than $2 each. I could not pass on that.
I think it's fine to end a no buy, but to recognize that the purpose of our no buy was to take a break from consumption and evaluate our shopping habits and be honest about our needs. That's what we should take forward after ending a no buy, that we should really only be purchasing if 1)We actually need it, or 2) We actually want it, after calmly considering it. What the no buy should have done in theory is to curb some of those over-consuming, impulsive purchases. I think it's fine and good even to buy what you want. What's not good is to spiral in spending and shopping habits. Each person has to determine that for themselves.
I think I’m gonna put myself on a no buy for all my categories except eyeshadow until Black Friday lol. Tho i just bought two bPure pressed powders from the dollar tree bc it’s my holy grail and I can’t find them anymore 😅 lol
Ok, so the new Natasha Denona mini palette has three shades in it from the Retro palette, including the shade you use the most, Andy. So if you decide to buy it, it will be a repeat, but you will most likely use it. Also, I've kind of been on a makeup no buy for many of the same reasons as you. I walked into a brand new Sephora store yesterday (only been open for two days), looked around, and bought nothing! I really surprised myself! 😂
