    Great video! There is also Lyngdorf's RoomPerfect which offers a global setting, multiple focus positions and different voicings to suit your tastes and needs in different situations. I have a Lyngdorf digital amp with RoomPerfect, and I'm very impressed with it. They also make multichannel audio processors for home cinema.

    Really like MultEQ-X, especially with their calibrated ACM1-X. Verified their estimated “after” curve is pretty spot on according to my measurements with REW using a umik-1. Should be interesting to see how using MultEQ-X with their calibrated mic compares to Dirac in the new D&M AVRs. Maybe a future video?? LOL

    Another trick with the post 2020 Denon's is that you can have different tunings for the same measurement by modifying Flat as well as Reference within a single Preset, so it's more like 2+2 profiles.

  • @peterv.7409
    @peterv.7409 Рік тому +3

    Worth mentioning on the older D&M models w/out speaker presets, MultEQ-X let's you assign curves to use "Flat" and "Reference" modes as presets.

    I'm also interested in how the new Dirac 'Active Room Treatment' or 'Spatial Room Treatment' (if I'm saying this correctly) will, as Dirac says, revolutionize room correction. I believe there will be a charge for an upgrade license for many that currently on have Dirac, so would like to see another video on it, when released. Thanks Theo!

    I have a standard movie watching profile set up on my X3400 and then one for when I am sitting in my recliner that is off to the left of center. Since I have an older denon I have to use the editor app to switch the profiles - which is a bit annoying - but it does work.

      That is the one big disappointment with these new AVRs --- they don't take advantage of voice commands using Alexa, Siri, etc. I have the Pioneer LX505 and have three different Dirac profiles stored and it's clumsy to change to different profiles --- should be easy as saying "Alexa, change to Dirac Slot 3" or something like that

      Appreciate your comments John! Glad you're finding the videos informative. I'm waiting for my Anthem AVM 90 review sample to arrive and I'm hoping to do some additional videos with ARC Genesis once I get the review unit. Anthem automatically calculates room gain once you run a calibration. I currently have the AVM 60 and the newer models support additional features with ARC Genesis.

    I have an Anthem MRX 740 and for the most part ARC is great. One thing I haven't been able to figure out is if there is a way to use only the rear speakers as a 2-channel L/R setup. All of the speaker profiles require the FL/FR speakers which is very unfortunate. I tried setting it up with 4 speakers enabled with the fronts lowered the max of -12db and then using All Channel Stereo mode. For some content this seems to work as good as you'd hope, but often it doesn't seem to work right at all, with the resulting level being much lower than it should be. Maybe the ACS mode is buggy or I did something wrong.

    • @TheoNicolakis
      @TheoNicolakis Рік тому +1

      I’m not entirely sure your use case will work. ARC requires and assumes a minimum of 2 speakers with those two speakers being L&R. It seems to me that what you are trying to do is amp assign the speakers. Off the top of my head I think you’d need an amp or speaker switcher to accomplish what you are asking to accomplish this task. I presume the reason why you want to do this is because you have a seat in the back for specific purposes?

    Is Audyssey, Anthem ARC, ARC Genesis the same? I have the Marantz Cinema 50 and the Martin Logan Impression 11A. Of course the Marantz has Audyssey and the 11As have Anthem Room Correction. I also purchased ARC Genesis after watching another video of you and Gene swearing its better. Now just trying to figure out who's on first... 🙂
    Which application do I start with? Or will I need all of them? I'm going to assume the first calibration should be done from the receiver but do I use Audyssey (built in) or ARC Genesis? I also assume when measuring the 11As I should be using ARC Genesis? But I promise, they are all assumptions and I'm not really sure how to start...heck or finish for that matter. For instance, making adjustments to the measurements. Oh almost forgot...I have the MultEQ app too...I'm all over the place...but I have good intentions.

    What is a house curve?

    • @TheoNicolakis
      @TheoNicolakis Рік тому +2

      Room correction systems calibrate to a target curve set by their research. A “house curve” (as you’ll sometimes see in forums and elsewhere is a specific curve you want to calibrate to. For example you want a +6dB boost in the bass beginning at 200Hz and lower, which is not what your room correction system is delivering.

    • @TheoNicolakis
      @TheoNicolakis Рік тому

      Here’s good overview. You can go to the roughly 10 minute mark. Elevating bass is likely one of the most common tweaks with house curves. ua-cam.com/video/kKWMufEaue8/v-deo.html
