    If two machines learn a terrain at the same time would the effects be the same or would they have different solutions?

    • @andriankuch2749
      @andriankuch2749 6 років тому +42

      Jiro Conwi They would have différent solutions. For exemple the angle of the elbow is redundant, you can walk with almost all the possible elbow configurations

    • @threemoo
      @threemoo 6 років тому +15

      +Fei Xiang I'd imagine not, that's what I thought originally.
      but I'm pretty sure DeepMind is a learning bot, it learns through repetition. I can see by that logic that minor inconsistencies in framerate could change the "learning" through each iteration and every one would probably have a slightly different solution. Probably the arm flailing would be different and the body orientation, as we saw one was running sideways like a crab.
      So even given the exact same scenario each time with the same character and world, the simple nature of an inconsistent physics rate woild probably give different solutions, assuming the physics rate isn't completely perfect, which in most modern setups and game engines it isn't.

    • @threemoo
      @threemoo 6 років тому +2

      The game Happy Wheels is the only example I can think of where the physics would always play out exactly the same regardless of framerate every time you restart a level.

    • @threemoo
      @threemoo 6 років тому +1

      +Fei Xiang There could still be other factors, someone had mentioned the "Random Number Generator" 's Seed. I personally don't think there is any Random Numbers generated here since there's a logic to the learning pattern, if there isn't, and there is any use Random at any stage (except generating the scenario), then the result will almost never be the same unless the same Seed is kept throughout, which would break any code that uses Random anyways.
      This of course leads to one pretty specific conclusion, the current design of "learning" based AI is 100% predictable, even if the predictability is extremely complicated,
      because it will always produce the same result given the exact same starting scenario.

    Could a parameter be introduced where the subject has a pool of usable energy that fill up slowly, or in randomized intervals, making it need to conserve energy while moving? That way it would likely get rid of the flailing, or even learn new gaits with more efficient patterns.
