Chaka is most definitely one of the greatest singer's of my day. Chaka's performance in this video, is sheer genius. Her vocals are absolutely incredible and together with Rufus, they made magic. Thanks for posting this video.
The way she starts the song/video a capella with her sweet, unique phrasings; feel and timing are epic!!!! I can listen to that alone on repeat all day. Sheesh!!!
This was back when music critics were calling her a screechy Aretha because her high notes hadn't yet developed her famous trumpet sound. They released Ask Rufus the following year and the critics changed their tune, praising her as one of the best female voices in pop/RnB music.

"I'm a Woman, I'm a Backbone" and "You Got The Love", for instance, maybe...nevertheless...it's not because of that they don't get their deserved award...Rufus don't exist anymore; their sound was completely out of the box; they didn't sell out enough for the masses; they didn't get enough props from the press/music critics overtime, etc...I'm hopeful Chaka will get the award 1 day...others with less talent and longevity have gotten theirs...
