Your spoon pedal build reminded me of my first street rod back in the late 50's. It was a 1933 Ford and it had a spoon pedal from the factory. You might keep an eye out for one at swap meets.
Another cool video for me Matt and that's why I watch each episodes. I have never built or restored any cars of my own. Back in the 60's through the 80's I worked on our family cars, but when I was younger I helped my Dad working on cars we had in the 50's and 60's. I've helped friends of mine over the years who worked on old street rods and loved getting my hands dirty and learning from them. I had no idea you could use the welder to heat and bend metal, I always did it with a torch. All of you and yours stay healthy and safe and I look forward to the next episode. Cheers from an old retired coot living in Tennessee.❤️👍✌😷🍻
I get a chuckle out of every time you say you're going to drill a hole in something, and then it's straight over to that turret punch! What a great tool to have, you'll never dull a drill bit that way!😄
Happy belated birthday!!!!! A year already? Time stands still for no one. So many cars for all of us Hot Rodders to revive.NEVER enough time. Lookin' good. 👀👍😎
I just went out to my garage and wished the BB four banger a happy anniversary. One year after coming out of a Pennsylvania junkyard on Matt’s birthday. Happy Birthday by the way, Matt. The valves and guides are all out, the crank is out and the pistons have all moved a little, but they are not out yet. The next big challenge is the cam and tappets. The cam is too rusted to regrind, so I will probably cut it up and take out the bearing chunks one at a time. I will email photos of the valves coming out.
That's so cool! I hadn't realized it has been a year already. The clip you showed loading her up, that's exactly when I started watching you all. I've been hooked ever since! Thanks for all you guys do to entertain us and keep us preoccupied during these trying times.
Happy belated birthday Matt. Thank you for the all your hard work making these videos. I watch them all. Hopefully one day soon, I will catch up with you at one of the shows. Maybe Ford Nationals at the end of July. Let’s all pray the world is healthy by then.
Alright, forgotten hotrod! Hard to believe it's been a year. You would have had it done cept for the Sweetheart Roadster, 34, cushman scooter and so on. I would have never thought of using TIG to heat and bend so now I know, thank you. Still my favorite project.
Happy Birthday Matt, I haven't been feeling well in the last few days and your videos keep me updated on the'39 it's going to be a great speed around the corner car. You've done a great job on it from the shape it was in a year ago.
Matt, Happy Birthday a day late. You are making alot of progress on that car. I really enjoy watching. My dad swears by kroil and I have memories of the little squeeze can he had, maybe still does from the 70s. It sparked a great memory for me when I heard you talk about kroil. Thanks
Nice work Matt, sure is nice to see the forgotten hotrod getting close to driving down the road after so many years it was left to rot away stuck in a wet mud marsh, good job!!!!!
First of all Happy birthday Matt🎂🎈. I've been following this 1939 forgotten Ford hot rod since day one when you first bought the car and started on the project. Looks great you and the others done an excellent job it's been an awesome experience and I can't wait till it's all done and see you drive out of there and Take It On the road, Great job keep up the good work... Jose
My dad owned a 40 ford, a little customized, candy apple paint, etc. he sold it and bought a 38 buick straight 8 in the 40's. Mom died a few years ago, but dad is still going on great! he will be 92 years old this fall. He bought a new Buick Encore a couple years ago, it's great if you like new age stuff, It was a demonstrator and has everything on it, he got it for a song, dad still knows how to wheel and deal and I'm sure going to miss him when he's gone, but I have a couple grandkids to keep me going on. I always wanted to build up a 40 ford for him and me to cruise around in, but never had money until lately. I don't have a lot, but I have some. Hopefully enough if you want to sell it. He's not into rust, he likes shine, and nobody was ever allowed to eat in his cars. he always keeps a little corn broom and mini dustpan in the car, but the windows are aways dirty. Dad got pulled over by the police once because he dyed his tail light bulbs blue, they made him scrape the bulbs clean or get a ticket, so he scraped them clean real fast with his pocket knife and got a free pass. He did outrun the police once in Paris Ky. He was speeding to get back to my future mom, they maybe didn't have radios then, and the buick was pretty fast, but he was lucky he didn't end up in the pokey, or worse. He almost wrecked in a turn though. Lucky for me all's well or I wouldn't be here!
The ‘39 has really come a long way. You should have her back on the road again pretty soon. I like seeing your simple solutions to the little problems that pop up during a build. BTW: I love that ‘39 banjo steering wheel. I think it was a one year only but, was one of their best designs. Hope you had a happy birthday!
Nice work on the gas pedal, I like the was you can get you foot under it, I have had to do that a few times when the return spring breaks, or something got stuck!! You could also put a cover over the lever on the inside of the firewall, to reduce drafts.
I like how you resuce these old cars and not doing a million dollar resto . I did my share of high dollar builds at a shop i worked at, all it did was burn me out and ruin the hoppy for me. Im now getting back in the hoppy after some years in part thanks to you. Building a 29 chev 3 window As part of my rehabilitation now Lol, keep up the great work, from canada, soon to be arizona.
HAPPY DAY LATE BIRTHDAY MATT !! My gosh, it's been a year and a day already. So, I hope that the wife had taken you out for some fun last night. Anyway, the car is looking awesome. It'll be great to see you driving it soon. You guys have been doing a butt load of work in the past year, so Happy Birthday one more time and great job on the linkage. 🇺🇲 👍
Happy belated birthday Matt. It’s hard to believe that a year has gone by since you acquired the forgotten hot rod and now look at it. Keep up the good work and as always a great video.👍🇨🇦🎂🍻
I always have difficulty determining how longer here and shorter there will impact linkages. Very interesting and helpful to watch and learn. From the south shore of the Underwood Branch, thanks for the fun. :-)
Happy Belated Birthday Matt ! Nice little quicky video. Have you ever thought of using a Stainless Steel kitchen, table or Tea Spoon turned so the concave is facing the floor or firewall for a throttle pedel ? I have put a couple in cars and they look really cool as well as can be shined up nicely. Also, I so like those seat covers in that car ! They just fit it well ! That car will be so much fun when you get it on the road. Later Gator
Hey Matt & Co. another great video as always, the 39 forgotten hot rod has definitely come a long ways. I've noticed that you are a pack rat too, I have a hard time throwing stuff away, you never know when you might need it. Great tip on using the Tig Torch for heating & bending the throttle linkage. Just curious, will the 39 forgotten hot rod ever be up for sale? Just wondering, as much as we like, can't keep everything. Happy Belated Birthday...Anyway be safe...Build on Dudes!!
On the Fords with the Y block, the linkage you are mounting on the inside of the car would have been mounted on the outside of the firewall. The only rod going inside would have been the one with the ball socket going to the pedal.
Hi Matt how about a spacer under the pivot to straighten out the two linkages Or get rid of the pivot all together and and have one straight linkage Looks great Cheers 👍👍😍😍 Happy birthday 🥳
Kroil is way, way better than PB blaster. 👍👍 Never knew you could use a tig torch for just heating an area like you would with oxi/acetylene. Learn something new everyday.
Hey hey Matt I knew there was a good reason I like your videos. My BDay is also June 1st. Happy Birthday!! Awesome work and Awesome videos!! Keep it up
