Take a sacrifice rod. Big junk sinker and a slip float on junk line on an open face that you can launch past your other lines. The slip float keeps the line up on top of the water and just flip the bell over when a boat comes by to close. I've donated 250 yards to the prop bearing foundation before. All with a smile on my face. 😂

I deal with similar boater pain when bank fishing my local lake. What’s even worse than the boaters running over your lines are the jet skiers and water skiers who repeatedly come back or do circles around where you fish… worst experience. Kayakers and paddle boarders are also terribly disrespectful.
The blue cat with the grease was working on the boat motor from the rude people. The flathead you caught was scratching his back. I appreciate all the great content you put out.

I love to catfish myself and work with a bunch of great guys that like to bass fish. But I hate to say it most of them turn into Bassholes when they get behind a boat steering wheel. Thanks for another entertaining video.

Always felt that bank fishing is as close to real fishing as it gets; no fish finders or other BS. Everybody in a bass boat thinks they are a pro and will fish right across your lines, because there must be some fish there. They are in a boat and can go anywhere on a river or lake but choose to fish where your at. What is it with people these days? Everybody is in a hurry!

This is some of the best bank fishing I've seen and a big Flathead to boot heck yeah man.
Fish Mississippi a lot and it's weird. Sometimes boat can really mess up the bite. But sometimes it can active them too.👍
I understand totally. They got the whole lake and they come up right next to the bank. I can remember when they pass by they would slow down to a crawl.
Hell they even mess with other boaters. I was fishing the Missouri River the other day. Guy came and fished right next to me out of all the river. So I started trolling for spoonbill and he didn’t last very long!

I've found that on the bank or in the boat when you have idiots flying by way to close when your fishing a 4 or 6 ounce sinker to the side of their boat helps them remember their manners

So cool. Another great video Justin. I would love to land just one of those big cats before I am gone. Plenty of bullheads up this way but catfish of any kind are far and few between. I have caught two channel cats in my life, both of which were just over 24 inches and were caught on jig and soft plastic while smallmouth bass fishing, and were 40 miles south of here. Up here there are very very few catfish. Thanks again for sharing your experiences.

There can be a cost for the boats catching your line. A friend of mine caught his own line and the prop wrapped it up until it destroyed the seal in his lower unit. It didn't take long for the water to destroy the whole lower unit. Not cheap.

Have to deal with rude boaters and kayakers quite often, even though there are laws in my state that say they are supposed to stay a certain distance from shore fisherman.

I would love for the opportunity to fish with you for a day and gather some of your knowledge that you might not put on UA-cam lol! We don't have any Blue cats up here in the Eastern Panhandle of WV. I believe the bite is weird because usually ur trolling/ dragging so the cats are extra aggressive since it’s a moving bait
I go fishing from the bank - 2 pound channel, blue gill and a 1 pound carp. Kayak catfishing goes fishing from the bank - all hell breaks loose. Fml.
Those boaters waked up the cats, the fish in this lake are used to this motors comming arround and back... You should thank those boaters Justin !! and ask them to do it again ;-)

It always mystifies me how boaters and fishermen who have miles of shoreline to run down will cruise the only bank available to bank fishermen.
I was bank fishing on a major river two years ago. Literally hundreds of miles of river to fish and this guy roars up in his $100,000 boat and anchored literally 50 feet from me. Asked me “you don’t mind if I fish here do you?” Idiot.

I don't think that boater crossed in front of you intentionally. As a boater and a kayak fisherman myself, I usually beach myself only if I'm taking a break. The way your poles are positioned off the back I'm pretty sure they don't see your lines in the water till they get close to you, then it's too late. On the other hand, that boater needed to stay more to the right side of the lake Incase another boat comes around the bend.

Will and I have had a few experiences. We are like you in that we try to go out when there are fewer out - preferably weekday. Non holiday. We are not people persons. Iv bank fished my whole life. Finally got a boat and accidentally ran past a guy in-between docks pretty bad bc I didn't see him. I felt bad about bc iv been swamped so many times fishing from the bank but sometimes I reacon it can be accidentally but most people are definitely rude.

Yo, had my first two encounters with rude fishermen. One guy doesn't like me keeping 37-40in catfish because of tournaments coming in. And the other was filling buckets full of crappie... so you know why he was angry when I setup my kayak near the crappie hole. Ended up leaving both spots. Still landed monster blues, shad and crappie throughout the days.
My target species now is flathead. Dropping baits in the snags off of slow moving current with dropoffs has not paid off yet. But sooner or later I know ones gonna see my bait.
I fish off of my jet ski I can get into nooks and crannies a lot easier for big fish if it's a bass fisherman I would load my jetski up even though they can outrun me I would just follow them and catch up and run around the banks back and forth 🤣

Had a couple guy's pre fishing for a bass tournament on Watts Bar and blew by me less than 40yrds while I was anchored down fishing the mouth of a creek, saw them pull into a marina inlet and I packed up followed them in they were already fishing so I proceeded to run circles as fast as my 90hp would go around them, yelled at'm How you F'n like it !!!!!!! I think they got the point that their actions weren't appreciated.

I guess you didn't get a chance to pop a squat! I get only 2-3 pound catfish where I live I guess they are called pout or mud pout, and they are black except for the belly and that black comes off and it's slimy. Ever hear of small cats called pout?

It is annoying, but I try to give folks the benefit of the doubt. If they don't fish, they probably don't know how they affect those that are fishing. Waterways are shared resources whether fishing from bank, boat, bridge or pier, other people will be likely to be enjoying the water as well.
Best to not dwell on it and try to enjoy your time on the water.
