    Yes I used my old Yardvac and it worked fantastic-half tank of gas and bag filled half way also- what a tool for picking up leaves.

    I'm really gonna need that handy yard waste vacuum, because I have oak trees on my front yard and I'm tired of those falling acorns making a mess everywhere.

    I have an older model billygoat with a 5hp brigs and stratton same concept just an older model works great I use it for comercial leaf cleanup for tight back yards and difficult access areas that make it hard to blow the leaves out of I dump the bag on the curd and pick everything up with a debris loader / leaf vacuum that lord the bed of my truck!

    Nice! I noted the grass and leaves in the video were good and dry, but around here where I live, you often have wet, rainy conditions in the fall that might be problematic for efficient operation of this machine. Also, when push comes to shove...... I think some motorized propulsion assist on this rig would be very welcome. I would love to rent one and try it out for a day first before I plunked down the cash to buy one.

      They do make a self-propelled version. And yes it would be a very nice option! It obviously adds a little to the price, but once the price is paid you wont ever regret having not to push it around! As far as wet or damp leaves, yes they can be a little tricky to pickup but I have noticed that the wheels being as large as they are help "fluff" up some of the leaves if you have some side/turning action on top of the leaves. Or worst case scenario taking a rake out and just "roughing" up the soaked pile, therefore making some air pockets under the pile and then this will suck them right up. That is still better than picking wet leaves up by hand or just the rake!

    Could you use this after dethatching the yard? Would it pick up the dead grass?

  • @cassieslemmer8573
    @cassieslemmer8573 Рік тому +1

    How does this do with small items, like helicopters from maple trees or locust tree leaves? Those seem to get embedded into the grass and we’ve tried raking, blowing… nothing has worked well yet.

    • @MerzFarmEquip
      @MerzFarmEquip  Рік тому

      You can adjust the height of the front vac. If you get it down low enough, it will suck anything and everything up. But you run the risk of sucking a lot of dirt in dry conditions. With a nice stand of grass, nice thick turf I believe it does a great job and keeps the dirt and such in tact. But with spotty or thinner turf you have the "side effect" of the dirty conditions.

    We have one here at my job, how do I find out if this vacuum is 2 stroke engine? Is is straight gas or mixed?

  •  10 місяців тому

    How do we start this billy goat, I'm having trouble finding how to start it

    • @MerzFarmEquip
      @MerzFarmEquip  10 місяців тому

      Pull the rope on the engine. BUT make sure you have the throttle moved to the run position. Pulling the throttle all the way back (lowing rpms) is the way to shut it off.

    I wish you would have shown how the leaves look after being mulched!

    • @MerzFarmEquip
      @MerzFarmEquip  Рік тому +1

      It does a good job of chopping them up. To the point I would say almost too good because if you fill the bag up of chopped leaves it can be fairly heavy to handle!

    Anyone know how the hose attachment does? Clogs easy etc? A lot of these i find used are missing the attachment and they're very expensive.

    Smart thing to do would see if a lowes or rental place rents them. I'd rather spend 45 bucks to rent for the day then buy one for upwards of $800 to use it twice during the fall..plus, a full day's rental cost at $45 you could make a killing if your neighbors pay you to do theirs as well

    • @MerzFarmEquip
      @MerzFarmEquip  2 роки тому

      We rent one at our location in SE Nebraska. We are not sure who else does. But I personally have already used it twice this fall and will probably 2 more times.
      It works nice to leave the grass a little taller going into winter, rather than having to use the mower and bag the leaves.

    • @RestInPeaceRestorations
      @RestInPeaceRestorations 2 роки тому

      @@MerzFarmEquip so after using it I will give this a 6/10. My yard has trees falling apart and if sticks get stuck, it's a a constant battle of turning it on/off to unclog.
      While it does make the raking part easier, the bag is not very user friendly for emptying into a paper lawn bag(our borough requires paper lawn bags). So essentially, I have to dump the leaves into a pile and shovel and rake them into a lawn bag anyway.
      I think if a yard is free of falling branches and you can just dump the leaves into a bin, it's better.

    • @MerzFarmEquip
      @MerzFarmEquip  2 роки тому

      @@RestInPeaceRestorations oh yeah dumping the bag from the Billy Goat into lawn bags would be difficult.

    • @MerzFarmEquip
      @MerzFarmEquip  Рік тому +1

      We are not sure. I would think so, but it does mulch the leaves so not sure it would be the best. They do make a debris vaccum that probably would be better than the KV model!

    Would you recomment this for picking up acorns out of a lawn?

    • @MerzFarmEquip
      @MerzFarmEquip  Рік тому

      It definitely will pickup acorns and such. However it does "chop" up the leaves and when you pickup many acorns you can hear them "ping" around the fan and such. What we have seen work really well for acorns out of a yard is the EGO Rubber Power Broom for their multi-head tool. It "sweeps" them into a nice pile and then they are easy to pickup with a shovel or by hand. I believe we have footage of this machine but not yet made the video. Stay Tuned!

    judging the way the kid is pushing it, its not self propelled?... what about weight distribution when the bag starts getting full.. will it start doing wheelies??...

    • @MerzFarmEquip
      @MerzFarmEquip  2 роки тому +1

      This model is not self propelled. If the bag is full it will start to lift the front wheels. But the bag gets extremely heavy to dump at that point too. It mulches the leaves so that amount of mulched leaves is a large amount of material.
