Good review Scott. I had one years ago with the old Briggs quantum engine. Brilliant engine. As you say easy to push. Just a big unit that takes up a lot of room that is really a one trick pony. My mate has one with the Honda gcv190 and he has had lots of problems with the engine. One of the best uses we have found is when doing private roads with small verges. One guy blows leaves into the road then one guy on the billy goat collecting it all up. The bag on my old one was assembled with a giant zip which I preferred to the newer style that you shown. I do have a video of mine in action from a few years ago.
Hi Greg. Newer style is trickier. The zip was easier on the old ones. Like I say good and bad points and in the right environment it’s a good machine. I wouldn’t use it everyday and if I was on a budget it wouldn’t of been a necessity but it’s good to have at hand.
I had a similar one of these last year. Got rid of it within 6 weeks. I got fed up emptying the bag. Rather hand fill half ton bags and move them myself, but they have their place for sure.
Hi mate, my first thoughts were "is it any quicker". But as I watched it I can see the benefits in certain public areas. Definitely worthwhile having in your toolkit! Great review
Hey your at 204 now! I used billy goat leaf remover before when I worked with a landscaper. Thankfully I don’t have that many leaves that I need something like that just the mower.
I returned mine on Monday, the self-propelled was horrible on a slight incline was the bag started to fill up, Little Wonder hydrostatic-drive for me next time
You can push it faster than the self propelled. I do think that’s a waste of cash and not needed. They’re good for areas around people but we won’t use it on every site. Some sites we will still blow and throw on the van.
Actually when you said “will it save you time” the best time saver for me is I just use the Billy goat walk behind blower and just take all the leaves in the yard and blow them into a line then vacuum them up that has been a time saver for me so in a way it kinda does save you time. Although mine is a Kv 601 with the Briggs engine like the one in this video and it uses a lot of fuel quickly so stopping to fill every often kinda kills the time saver thing
Great and useful review. I always find clearing leaves up with a team of 2 people is best blowing leaves into channels and half filling ton bags using a decent sized snow scoop. I see why they would be useful in some situations but I don't think I could justify the expense. Do they make much noise Scott?
They are not as noisy as a high powered blower but like I say in the video they are good but not a time saver and this cost £1100 with discount at my dealer so not the cheapest but nice to have.
Hi new subscriber here. Great video I just want to ask would you be able to use it on a gravel drive? I have two big gardens both with gravel drives and it's very tiring blowing & raking the leaves as there is so much volume. Would the vacuum suck up the gravel which are about 20mm/30mm in size? Thanks
Hi Antony, They usually suck up a little bit of pea gravel as it’s light but overall they are fine to use and do a good job on gravel and slate areas. Thanks for watching.
I found it a bit too bulky to carry round, I guess if you have the room it would work and working large areas. personally IMHO i prefer to just use a mower, it mulches the leaves as you go and can go straight on the compost heap. keep us updated.
Hi Scott, good video, I’ve had a few vacs I sold my Honda run one similar to this, I still own the big Billygoat but never used that as it has a blown engine (project that’s never really happened) and I have a running MTD one similar style to yours (I contemplated selling that, but probably missed the boat on that now the leaves are more or less down) But the good thing about vac is they are less wearing, the big echo back pack does get heavy after a while. You machine looks well worth it if you have a lot of hard standing to clear, I don’t really have that myself. Anyway congratulations on getting past the 200 subs mark and I’m sure many more will follow, you have good equipment to draw many more people to the channel. Take care🙂👍
Thanks for watching mate. It is a lot easier than having a big back pack on you are right but has its pros and cons. Regarding the subs. The first 100 was a lot harder to get than the second 100. Not sure if that’s what happens when channels gain traction. Hope you’re keeping busy. Just seen your new channel also 👍
@@scottellwoodgardening287 Hi yes as the numbers grow the subs do gather pace, after the 1k you really notice it, In the summer my videos were few and far between, I hit 1k April time and and at 1.2k now. It’s a bit of a slog getting to the 1k but it’s a great feeling getting there. That’s the challenge for me on my other channel now, It will be nice to get to 500 on there. My aim is to have 20 vids ready uploaded in private, that will ease the pressure and I can just release them when I want to. My advise is Just keep regular videos coming and you’ll soon get to that landmark 1k👍
@@Menditman2014 thanks I thought that’s what would happen. I planned to do one or two a week but last week getting near 200 I thought I would put one a day up and it picked up pace a bit. Some of the Americans with huge followings do one a day but I don’t know how they fit it all in and work.
I have the same machine which I just put a shredder attachment Wow it worked great ! I shredded so many leaves which that much less emptying the bag and the leaves were shredded so small I put them in the garden. The attachment does not work well with wet leaves ! But still a great Add on. I really wanted to see how you empty the bag! Taking the bag off to empty really sucks!!!
Mine quit running after just a few months. I thinker's the briggs and Stratton engine is just junk these days. I have many other small engines made by Kawasaki that just keep running forever, even when they have sat for a really long time.
Det är är väl bättre att montera ett fäste på maskinen för papperssäck /sopsäck att fylla på löv i på en gång, och lasta sedan direkt på transport till kompost.😤😎🇸🇪
Did I miss it? I was waiting for you to show how well it mulched those leaves!
Looks like a handy bit of kit 👍
Nice to have on hand but like I say not a huge time saver but easier for the worker.

Yes Chris some love them some hate them. The bag system is fiddly and they should of stuck to the zip.

Not a huge time saver but easier on the operator and you’re right if you’re in public areas you don’t need to stop like with a blower.
Can you blow the leaves out once you’ve filled the bag through the hose?
Nice vacuum, more control than blowers, keep the tips coming.

Thanks for watching Paul. I have also subbed to your channel.

Yes I’ve picked up a good few followers in the last week. Sick of the sight of leaves now but another week should see them all done.
The little wonder walk behind is better as the leaves are directed down into the collection bag, which prevents you getting wet too.
Do you get enough jobs to cover the cost . Is leaf collecting a good earner . I wondering what to change .

I have been on the fence for years about buying one of these for scarify season, nice review
Possb ideal for that type of job collection.
Thanks mate. Yes it would pick up the moss etc with ease.
@@scottellwoodgardening287 I would love to see a video on that...
@@Premier_lawns_official I don’t do a lot of scarifying but when I next do one I will film it to see the benefits.

this machine collects the cut branches of the hedge?
Hi, yes it will pick up small branches and twigs as well as litter.
I can see the benefits of using that in public spaces like streets or parks when people are about.
Exactly. Not a huge time saver but when you’re blowing leaves at people 😂 it will stop complaints.

They do take up room. It nearly fills the van but for street cleaning it will be great.

How much are these
They were around £1200 but they may have gone up now.
