- iPhone 5 VS iPhone 15 Pro Max Camera Test!
I was SHOCKED by the results when I decided to put my old iPhone 5 head to head with the brand new 15 pro max. 🤯
#iphone5 #iphone15promax #apple - Наука та технологія
I have to agree with you on the macro shot, the Iphone 5 photo just looks more beautiful and seems to have more contrast and depth.
The bokeh looks VERY good. was surprised that it did so well there
Took a pic of a strawberry up close in 2013 on my iPhone 5, watching this video brought up that Core memory for me, I can agree with this as well as the quality is amazing
Exactly, the quality is better
That’s because the iphone 15 pro max will switch to the ultra wide for macro shots. There’s this inbetween when its switches and ur not close enough to the subject that the pics just look AWFUL. Which i think was purposefully done here. And that was not a macro shot either way lol
Ik
the contrast and depth on the 5 is insane
385 likes and no reply lemme fix that!
@@ItzQwerty01 lol I love these comments
Thanks. Very helpful

It’s less dynamic range, which can look nice some times. There’s also people that seek out some of the first digital camera sensors for their “look”
photos on older phones feel more “comfortable” than some big boy cameras nowadays
so use SE model like me😂
Totally agreed. I also noticed that. even on Android phones new phones can't beat the quality of old phone cameras
@@Shahal-YTyes they can. By far. You just prefer how they look but new phones have better cameras that are meant to look more realistic
Android phones like samsung enhancing photos with software, thats why you like more old cameras. Because the new ones are not natural. The AI put too much color, saturation in it. But basically new cameras are better but you need to set it-up your own.

That flower shot is insane, iphone 5 dominates the 15 in that shot
I was so shocked when I reviewed them both side by side
It has to do with the setting u can make it look twice as good on the iPhone 15
@@azm01 yeah but that’s editing, not camera settings. Default camera (which almost everyone rocks with) the iPhone 4 beats the 15 pro
It easily doesn’t y’all just like the way it shapes the form and looks, the 15 Pro Max makes it feel more dynamic and has higher detail and good contrasting colors
No? Ye it looks better the the iPhone 15 probably shows you what the flower actually looks like irl.
objectively the 15 produces a more clearer and real picture but i think the 5 pictures can sometimes be even prettier especially with the macro shot
You can just edit the photo on the 15 to look nicer in almost all scenarios but some photos right out the phone look better on the 5
Iphone 5s was the most satisfying iphone to hold in your hands!! It was literally a different feeling!😊
no the 6s was most satisfying to hold!!
ikr It feels like a toy 😭I miss iphone5
@@fukingking nah bro, used iphone 7 which is a similar feeling for 3 years, iphone 5s for 2 years and i can tell, 5s was the best feeling!
i still have 4 and 5... they feel so small and so light 😂
Iphone 5s was the best phone format, I took the s23 to feel the same... feeling
That's Steve Jobs vs Tim Cook, Definitely you'll see the difference
Interesting way to look at it for sure. This was Steve’s last iPhone project
Steve's last iPhone was the 4S
@@suckerberg9762 no it wasn’t. It was the 5. Do your research, slowpoke.
@@suckerberg9762yes exactly he died after the 4s😂
Thats just 1 year after, he probably still worked on the 5
it's so crazy that we are now nostalgic to the look of the iPhone 5's camera. As if it's some retro camera from the 80s
Yesterday I tried taking photos on an iPhone 5s, and they came out pretty decent. One thing though is that I was in the dark, but it definitely would have been better during the day
Yeah low light it falls apart pretty quick
this is basically the sequel to my original iPhone 5 Day In The Life. Lots of fun to make and im SHOCKED at how nice some of the footage looks from a 12 year old phone
Subscribed because you're from Vancouver
🗿
You definitely deserve more views... and obviously more subscribers. Always stick with content creation, dude, cuz you will definitely make it big... Its just a matter of time at this point.
Thank you 🙏🏼❤️ lots more to come
Auto HDR is killing the shadows on newer iPhones. Would be so awesome if we were able to switch it off (w/o going via Raw format).
Turn it off🤡
Yep, you can turn it off in camera settings, plus you can use 3rd party camera apps with less processing (I recommend fjorden, completely free)
That’s a beautiful looking city
Vancouver is gorgeous
The flower shot from iPhone 5 was so beautiful
I remember I took SO many great pictures with my iPhone 5, and I still have it in my drawer for a backup phone!
Steve would’ve had a seizure if he saw that ugly camera bump 😂
You’re not crazy my man! I still to this day whenever i wanna take a selfie i just turn on my iPhone 7 and take one on it, since you’re able to manually disable the HDR in camera and also the post processing doesn’t ruin the natural look of my face and make me seem like 20 times olders than my age like my 14 Pro Max does, new algorithm in modern iPhone is almost terrible in 90% of the times you shot with it it totally ruins everything great about the photo and makes a damn cartoon out of it.
Glad I’m not the only one that noticed 😂😂😂
I have a 5s that I used to use a year back for 4 years. The photos on it were honestly really good and I have alot of memories on it.
oh cool, i see you live in Vancouver, BC! always fun to see a youtuber who lives in the same city as me.
Best place in the world
@@WillBowers I completely agree!
had a 5 and a 2016 SE, loved the cameras on it and many if not all of my favorite creative photos were taken on them. none of my phones after that came close to how the 5/5s/SE took pictures, not even my current flagship android.
(i also have taken pictures on a newer iphone, but hated all the immediate post processing/algorithm work.)
many of the situations where the 5 is outperformed by the 15max has to do with the lighting, especially in the one with a backlit building. that's the 5's weakness-but it's also inadvisable to take photos of a backlit subject unless you know how to deal with adjusting exposure. the 15 does it for you, so you dont have to think too much about learning basic photography techniques (but i think it's good to know a little rather than none)
I swear your too under rated
Thank you
Yes the 5 macro shot was amazing‼️ better than 15 for sure surprisingly … as others have stated you should do the 5s next… I remember it getting a pretty good bump in quality
I think the reason why the macro shot looks better on the iPhone 5, is the background having lower brightness, makes us focus on the main object, and the color is more rich and the saturation probably doesn’t even out like 15 Pro Max.
I had the 5s and that thing lasted me until middle school. I upgraded to the 8 Plus and then the 11. Honestly the 5S is underrated for an everyday phone.
iPhone 5 was my first iPhone. I loved it. The UI was way smoother than previous iPhones, and far ahead of the competition. Just ordered my iPhone 15 pro max!
I agree with you!❤
Do you live in Vancouver? I hope! You’re probably the most underrated UA-camr ever! Earned yourself a new subscriber!
Love that u made this!!! I’ve been thinking for a few iPhones now, that it just doesn’t feel the same… that’s what it is. The retro just vibe of the picture… idk but it’s a feeling
Yeah the ai enhancements make for a much flatter image these days
That flower 🌸 macro shot with the iphone 5 is way way better❤❤❤😊
Great test, thank you! I hope you enjoy bringing us joy :)
I have one recorded video from iPhone 5s in icloud. It still amazes to me today.
Such a cool video! Where is the green case and brown wallet from 😍😍
iphone 5 pics are more realistic because the iphone 15 has so much ai bullcrap to make the image "look better"
Yeah it’s a more natural image. That being said, with a bit of editing an iPhone 15 photo will almost always blow it out of the water
Remember, these are camera phones and not professional. I’d say that most people like vivid pictures that pop more than realistic pictures.
Nowadays software is aimed to please the masses. Though the iPhone 5s software was made for a time long ago
@@WillBowers I don't want to take a photo and then need to edit it to make it look good enough.
ur video quality and effort into each video is inspiring dude, keep it up ❤
Thank you my friend
hey.. that’s vancouver! cheers to you from vancouver!
Secret: This was made on an iPhone 5 😂
Fire content bro! Personally the signature sound byte is kinda scary and shocks my senses in a negative way, I’d switch it up for something more woody and blocky, but I see the angle you’re going for
Ty for the feedback
i like the slowed down astrothunder track behind this video
I remember when I had a 5S that it did take really great photos especially outside for the most part. Inside photos were pretty good depending on the lighting, but the outside ones were great.
Stanley park!! Great picture setting 😊
That’s awesome. Had an iPhone 5s, it was an awesome phone. Give that little guy good lighting and it’ll still be a decent backup camera.
As someone who just moved from a 5 to a 15 this week… I definitely feel this! The photos looks great on the 15 but they also feel almost too clean and crisp.
couldn’t agree more ..i have a spare iPhone 5c i picked up because my first ever iPhone was the green 5c, but i always wanted a blue one
and the photos on a warm summers day are surprisingly great and certainly charming in a way
dude the quality of this video is crazy
The iPhone 5 camera is so slept on! There was a film named Tangerine that was shot on the iPhone 5. Super underrated camera
I’m writing this from my Iphone 5 and I love it, never considered switching.
black and white images on the old iPhones look like film. mind blowing stuff
The macro on iphone 5 :O I wasn’t prepared for that difference dayum
Iphone 5 pictures giving beautiful old vibes 😢
Me watching in 240p: hmm, yes, very good pictures
The 5 was a solid build. It was a huge jump in tech from the 4S.
I hear Astrothunder I approve
😉😉😉
Also got the iPhone 5. Really lovely device.
The CMOS sensor on the iPhone 5 is the exact reason why you get that filmic look
I have a bunch of photos on my PC from the time I had my iPhone 5C and a lot of them are still some of my favorite photos I've ever taken on anything.
I have take a pic of a flover on a iphone 5s years ago and its still the fest flower photo ı have ever seen. Light dynamic range shadows and the quality is unbeliveabke
The shot of that flower surprised me! I bet I’ll feel the same way when I order an older Samsung phone( the s9+)
Nice Vancouver scenery 😊
iPhone 5 did have software image stabilisation for video, it even began before with the 4S and if you watched something as obvious as their launch videos before making yours you would know. Image stabilisation was even marketed as “improved” in the 5 in their website and it felt like a big thing. It completely sucked, yes, but it did have it and we did used to believe it worked
updrade mean upgrade
that has to be improved😂😂😂
The iPhone 5 is now a teen.
You also held it an a different angle, which captures more background elements and the light that lands on the things in the background
No I didn’t actually! One of them is just a wide angle lens and one is about a 30mm focal length
The macro of the 15 pro just isn’t the best tbh
this has got to pop off. i’ll see you at 100k likes
The first iPhone 5 video I did got like 6 mil views so that would be dope hahaha thanks for watching 😌
Bro, holding that phone as you tried to plug it in with one hand over the water was stressing me out!
Is anyone gonna talk about how he hold the two phones on top of the water?😭😭😭
“I put a professional basketball player up against a middle schooler and-“
iPhone 15 : we come long long way,
Type C in 2023
Android with Type C from 2015 : What? 😅
Did you know that Apple was one of the companies who helped develop and create USB-C? Look it up, pretty wild
@@WillBowers Then why did they put years before.. See the point here is they Put Type C because of compulsory Rule of EU…and then they call it as a feature😂..The irony is The USB-C ports in both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus supports USB 2. Which came into light way back in 2000🥱
And the USB C ports in the 15 pro is faster than the one in the newest Samsungs. Pretty cool right?
The point is, it’s good that it’s on the iPhone now and nobody was calling it an “innovation”
It’s just nice to have it
yes, the iphone 5 all the way up to 8s and SE second generations, maybe it’s the LCD screen, maybe it’s the older camera and sensor, but the pictures look much more retro and pleasing
The reverse charging and usb c should’ve came out with the iphone 8 lol
Did you use an external macro lens? For the es or just default camera app
It’s the photographer, not the camera. My dad rocked the 5s from launch until the iPhone SE 3 came out. Can’t tell the difference between the pictures
He had the same phone for 8 and a half years??
I had an iPhone 5 for long time ,
It felt so classy, compact & great
I really love your scrapers wallpaper. How to get that
Great video. I just got back from Switzerland and bought the 15 Pro Max for the trip. I compared my pics with those of my gf who has a $400 Android and many of her pics were as good as mine and the color in her pics popped more than mine. Sometimes dropping a small fortune on the latest phone isn’t wisest move.
Tha flower shot is insane given the 5 came out a min ago
Watching this video on my iPhone Se 1st Generation 😅
I actually carry an iPhone 6s with me at all times along with my 15 Pro and I have to say it's such a convenient thing to have. Not only can I use it for things that drain battery and basically improve my 15's battery life that way, but I also get this for the Camera. Whenever I just want to take a quick snapshot of something I usually pick up the older phone for that for a few reasons, but most importantly the file sizes. When I send a picture from the grocery store to my family, I don't want that clogging up any space, so it being dumped on the old phone's storage at a small size means I don't have to get a larger storage option or an expensive iCloud subscription for my newer phone.
I also agree with that macro shot..i had a 5s and it was very good with macro shots❤
Try the 4S you’ll love the color science behind that camera even though it doesn’t look as natural as iPhone 5 and beyond
I don’t understand where people, phone producers and a lot of reviewers got the idea that having a well lit shot even when there is no light blowing up all the shadows equals to a better image. They just added to me the necessity of bringing down the exposure all the time. Dynamic range these balls
The iPhone 5 shot of the metro door reminds me of that Fuji camera you’ve made a short about. Surprisingly I prefer the 5 on this one.
I’m going to do a follow up x100v vid soon 😊
It may be that the iPhone 5 has a ccd sensor (in comparison of the cmos sensor in the iPhone 15) so that’s why it kind of mimics the look of film, it’s a characteristic of that type of sensor
I usually don’t like taking any scenic photos on my 14 pro because the focal length is too short for it to feel like a good photo for me. If I ever take a photo of an aesthetic scene I usually try to use the 3x lens when I can because it looks a lot better imo
Iconic design on the i5!
Yo I have a iPhone 7 so I can really relate to the filmic look the older phones give off
My boyfriend used SE (5s body), last year moved to 13 mini and has mentioned this numerous times, how he feels sometimes the camera is a downgrade from last device.
Uffff, the stabilisation on that 15 PM is INSAANE! Wow wow 🎉
I remember when my mom had an iPhone 4S and we were so impressed with the camera.
I mean of course the 15 Pro Max is gonna look better with all that avalanche-like amount technology behind it, but 4/5's cameras were super impressive for the time and also it doesn't always to be dark, so IMO they would still look nice today. (Oh and the flower photo is way better on 5 tho)
How the hell is that macro shot so good on an iPhone 5… and it’s way better than the 15s macro, wow I’m getting one now
Bro did some Avatar shit at the end.
iPhone 5 camera footage just looks and feels nostalgic
I had a iPhone 5 and it was the best phone ever❤
The camera of the 6s is also super slept on.
OMG Stanley Park Vancouver ... miss this place
I think you'll find that effect is called nostalgia
If they added that same type of a depth and contrast from the iPhone 5 and put it in the iPhone 15 it would really improve it
I'm not gonna lie, the iPhone 5 looks much better aesthetically. There's something about the borders on the top and bottom on the back along with the iconic front side that creates a balance between the camera housing and the home button. 👌
Is that vancouver?
You should try it again but with a 6s or SE 1st gen since both have EIS
Had a 5 for 4 years. Loved that phone. Always thought the pictures out of it were great. I even printed a picture I took in Australia and hung it on the wall
