Premium service is what we do as standard! MIs state to check for leaks, check expansion and clean burner when necessary during service... Also saying your doing "3x" on premium service is a little false when whipping the burner off and cleaning it is removing one plug and undoing 5 nuts, then giving it a brush and spray down before changing seals takes less than 10 minutes if that
A "premium " service is required depending on the boiler model at certain ages. Paying 25 squids for a burner seal yearly when you don't need to for 3 to 7 years is a waste of money. Other things like an AAV change is an parts only added extra on any service and will always be checked. My service labour cost is the same on year one when you don't need any parts as on say year 5 when I change the seals, electrodes etc. Every service includes trap cleaned, filter flushed, inhibitor and ph tested etc... I never attend a service without having every serviceable part on the van so it's always done on one visit with the same set labour charge. I may lose out on labour when I'm doing the premium service but the previous services being quicker makes up for it. Swings and roundabouts as they say.
Yes i do admit that the burner gasket + 10mm nuts do not require renewing every time the cover is removed like Vaillant say -- i know vaillant are just covering themselves and making money on the part by saying that -- but your standard service not including cleaning the heat exchanger is going a bit to far ! -- doing it every year keeps it in alot better condition - than only cleaning it every few years --your standard service isl like the British gas service that gives the boiler less than 10 years life ! .
