I want to see the crooked brick in the wall that Ajahn Brahm always speaks of in his stories of first building the monastery. :) I'd also love to see some old photos of the monastery and how it has evolved over the years. One day I will come visit!

This is actually not what Buddhism really is. and yes maybe the closest one I've seen. let me explain one little thing. In My Lord Buddha's teaching, he always tells ppl to leave your desires aside. he makes some rules to all monks like don't sit a stand witch higher than 8 feet. use only one clothing, don't use shoes like that. when you not bound to things then you are more capable to leave everything. so then you can find who you are really. you trying to investigate deeply about you. then you realize all that there is no use of all of the things we used in the past. and this is the way to ultimate glory. (English is not my native lang. so this will be a bit strange. sorry for that)
So the true way is to leave all the huts tents and comfortable things. and use the forest to stay and make your own hut from the things in the forest . and Meditate till you find the truth.

Have you ever meditated by yourself or have you ever followed your own statement of leaving for forest and etc?

Please note that the Buddha was teaching the middle way ie not extremes in comfort or discomfort This is a monastery that conducts meditation retreats for lay people so there is a level of comfort in the rooms which are given to people of all ages and physical and mental disparities who attend these retreats so that they are not disturbed or discomforted to be distracted from their purpose in attending the retreat which is to find inner peace and tranquillity
