Totally agree on the list, especially the loud exhaust for relaxed driving. My solution anyway is using a removable db-killer, so you can enjoy the revs when you're in the mood and have a quieter exhaust when needed.

Welcome back! As an 8 1/2-year daily driver, I can absolutely agree with all five warnings. The RX-8 is a great car straight from the factory. The only mods I've done and still recommend are upgraded coils and great performance sport tires like my Michelin PS4S's.

Most of the knowledge I got about the 8 is from watching your old videos. :) About this one, I totally agree with you, I am on my 3rd RX8 on the last 5y and beside the suspension I made the same mistakes. Now mine is just for track which is super fun.

Like the others on here, glad to see you back in action. I would add an aftermarket cold air intake to that list, so many issues with the aftermarket ones i put the stock airbox back in.

I kept mine original and stiill enjoying the heck out of it, only drive on weekends or casual dates with wifey, just added a couple of gauges for peace of mind, your videos allowed me to do most repairs myself, Welcome back!

I regret not upgrading the suspension and wheels and tires first. My decat was a daily pain, so I had a high flow CARB approved cat installed with the existing midpipe.

You're one of the main reasons I bought mine in 2018, first thing I did was to put the CAT back. Been driving it during weekends and only had a problem with the oil cooling lines which is now fixed. Your videos were super helpful to me at least. If I can make one suggestion, make a video on solving the issue of water getting inside the rear lights. I couldn't find a good solution on youtube at least

Nice to see you back and still talk about RX-8. The most regret mod I did on my RX-8 is solid engine mounts. Gear change was so dramatic BANG BANG BANG. But the car lost smoothness characteristic which is unique to rotary engine.
That's a great list. I've had mine almost 10 yrs now. You forgot to mention the biggest benefit of removing air con for weight reduction, you save the weight of any passengers as they don't want to go in your car!

@Drivenbymadness HEYO!!!! Its soo good to see you back as I've watched you for years, even before I got Roxanne my RX8. Unfortunately ive just decided part ways with my Roxanne as I wanna try other cars before life gets too busy so I wont have her for much longer :( buttttt I am staying Mazda with a Speed 3. I do plan to come back to an RX8 in the future but I just wanted to say that you've done so much for me as an RX8 enthusiast. I grew up wanting an 8 and I found your channel like 3-4 years ago when you first built your car, and when my came around I used your videos to do all the things I wanted. Plus I also agree that RX8s stock hight is completely fine, lowering them causes Huge issues and that's why I left mine alone.

Glad you’re back! I agree with some thing’s from the list but 100% I recommend doing a cat delete and putting a good muffler kit on the car. The engine is very unique and she deserves to shoot flames and sound like a screaming race car. Embrace the spinning Doritos. And a good set of coilovers at lower height can further aid in the handling of the 8, it made a huge difference for me!

Nobody buys an RX8 for it to sound like a Prius. It's part of the fun. The smell? It has always smelled, especially on a cold start. Smells like fun.
I live in a place where there are much louder trucks than my RX8. Don't get me started on the motorcycles.
I love a stiffer ride and the way it corners is amazing with coilovers. I didn't lover it too much but I did have to buy a lower jack to get it off the ground.
I had a S13 with a welded diff and it was frustrating. Replaced it with a similar LSD that the RX has and it was sweet.
Sold my Sileighty for the RX. Although more expensive, it is worth it to hear her sing at 9K. Maybe I could have done a rotary swap?

In my opinion, a well mantained stock cat is ok. There is a lot of fuss around it, but when new, it's all right, for 99% of people, they will never notice the difference and so wont the car.

I'm a new RX-8 owner looking for a catback, would you say a Invidia Q300 is too loud as you mentioned in the video? I'm keeping the stock cat.
Thanks man! The one i have i perfect, great sound, not too loud but also not silent. It's the perfect middle, and it also has homologation papers for Europe.
Do you have to change the plastic near the exhaust tips so it doesn't melt with the Q300?
Yours seem different, can you point me to them?
@@DanielCabaceira I have the mazda speed apron, but we had to cut the exhaust tips to make them fit in the center of the arch, cause they were a bit too close to the plastic arch sides.
