As per GSM Arena and others the Pixel 7a has been universally panned for having poor battery life. I don't game, stream, vlog, etc. But after receiving the Android 14 and doing some battery saving tips can you confidently say the battery life would last well up to 12 midnight or beyond ? (Thinking of getting either the 7a in the New Year offers).
I don't subscribe to the fast charging hysteria. I would admit, that it is very convenient in the case when I figure out I don't have enough charge and I need to go out. However, this happens very rarely. I would much prefer bigger capacity and better longevity than super fast charging. My current routine has my phone limited to 85% max charge and I only charge at night, wirelessly with a 5W charger. I am hoping that the wireless charging does not damage my battery more than the capacity limit is protecting it. 😅 But it is convenient.
You are a special kind of a person! 😎 But yeah, I also got used to the slow charging and find myself more often using the wireless charging. The 7a is however really irritating. As if Google made it on purpose to annoy people.
nice review and regarding the thumbs down for charging, if a battery behaves like anything "matter" related, the slower the charging, the longer it will last which is, I assume, what the majority of us is looking for. A self explanatory example is automotive engines: a 100cc racing Kart engine VS a road car engine. the former revs at 18.000RPM and needs a complete overhaul after just 2-3 days of use (a single weekend of racing). The latter revs avg at 3000RPM and can last for decades. Now, phone batteries are made differently but the concept is the same: anything made of "matter" is finite. Has a life cycle that ends. The faster you go, the faster you get to that end. When I got the 7a, a slower (which we call slower compared to the rest but I wouldn't personally call it "slow") charing was just in line with my will to keep this phone functioning well for years.
Thank you for the good review! Had no idea that G limits to LTE when in an unsupported market... Does that mean that if I buy the pixel in a supported market, and travel to one that isn't, it will switch to LTE and vice versa?
It will be fine, because via roaming it will get the info that it is allowed to use 5G. The disadvantage is for users like me - I use a Bulgarian provider and am stuck with 4G.
I agree with you. Battery: thumbs down. As far as the plastic back, I think the phone has a good feel in the hand, though it does tend to get hot-feeling after a while. Overall, though, it's probably the nicest phone I've had, and I'm very happy with it.
you forgot the fingerprint detection can be flaky... the screen does not always see yout touches..a few things the upset me with this phone ... i have the orange version !!!

There seems to be a competition between manufacturers of who can destroy their batteries quicker,......oops i mean, who can charge the phone the fastest 😅.
They have been saying the same about the early OnePlus models. I've had OnePlus 3 for years without any notable degradation. Same with Mi 11 Ultra. Most of these batteries will live longer than the phone itself. 7a charging is terribly slow. Still a brilliant phone though.
The phones not bad , had it for a few months now. It's definitely better with android 14. (Battery also) But the big let downs for me are no Screen mirror unless Chromecast No wifi hotspot Selfie camera Hard to see screen in sunlight
Got the 7A a week ago and I have exactly the same thoughts. It's a beautiful phone and works great on all fronts, except.......... charging speed.
You will get used to it 😊
LOVE PIXEL FOR CAMERA FOR STILL IMAGES & THE UI JUST BUTTERY SMOOTH
👌
Agree! I have it and it's great
👌
Fast charging only destroys your battery quicker I like slow charging because it preserves the battery life
💯
@@sanosuke2999 why is everybody in the United States in such a hurry?
They should give us the option
Just charge it to 80 or 90%. In some cases I've found slow charging actually causes more heat during charging.
@@dr.stevenpennym.d.3241I'm using 80 watt wireless charger from Xiaomi

It has a Tensor SoC, and it is not great about battery life. But is a great phone overall
@@TechMishka How about after the Android 14 update? Has the battery life improved a little bit?
My Pixel 7a sports anywhere between 5 and 6 hours of SoT, so around average in my eyes
My choice is now between this and the Sony 10V. I wish there were more shirt pocket phones that are not Apples.
Agreed!
Here in Norway it was 340 euros for the 7a and still 750 euros for the 7, so made the decision simple. Strange how all over the place the prices are.
Yeah, this is indeed weird.
@@TechMishkaAt the moment Google sells Pixel 8 for $550. And Pixel 7 is not on sale and costs almost the same as 8.
Always great content 👍🏻

Pixel 7a beasts after android 14 beta 4 update its camera beats iphone 14 pro in terms of color accuracy and image processing
Nice!

Well,.it is still slow. Most times batteries outlast the phone. Saying this as a long year OnePlus user.
Hi. I'm planning to buy 7a . My only concern is does the phone has connectivity issue(whej using 5g or Wifi) ?
I have no 5G support in my country, so I can only confirm about the WiFi - it is well stable.

The Pixels are a pleasure to use.
Haha i remember this guy with his review on xiami mi lite stock android 😢 probably 6 years ago.
Haaaaaaa, so awesome. Was a lovely phone - the Mi A2 lite. Still keep it somewhere around.
The lemon grass on the 7 the sea and Coral on the 7a

This proves you don't need to spend a lot of money to get a really good camera on your phone and a very good experience for under $500
Totally!

It is indeed

Perfect phone for Graphene OS!

1 day in.. finger print thing sucks.. WHY? touch back screen does not work good.. but the rest is great..

Google needs leave Samsung and move on to TSMC manufacturing with Qualcomm modems. Heating, battery drains and those bezels are 3 deal brakers for me.
Samsung can make good SoCs too.

Better battery 🔋 life than the Xiaomi 13 Ultra 🙄, I doubt it.

Well thousand pounds + phones don't come with chargers
Oh come on :) if there was a charger, we could have criticized that it is too slow.
