Spelunky 2 - Eggplant Skip Demonstration (1.20.4a)

Theorized by Cloiss in the Spelunky Community Discord, this video demonstrates waking up the Eggplant Child without an Eggplant or a nearby vault.
These are the steps for how to do it:
1) Get a Teleporter/Telepack at or before Olmec's Lair 3-1. True Crown can also work, but it needs to be obtained after getting the Clone Gun in Tide Pool 4-2.
2) Get the Ankh.
2a) Store the Teleporter with Waddler if that's what you are going to use.
3) Obtain the Clone Gun in Tide Pool and bring it to Ice Caves 5-1.
4) Get lucky and have the Moai and Waddler's Room generate in the same column, and also have an Idol trap in the level.
5) Get the Idol and place it near the Moai.
6) Enter the Mothership and get the Plasma Cannon from it.
7) Place the Plasma Cannon next to the Idol, which is at the Moai.
8) Clone the Idol, then move the cloned Idol. This will unleash another boulder onto the level. The boulder will crush the Plasma Cannon, causing a powered explosion. The powered explosion will hit the closed entrance to the Moai and explode into the interior of the Moai, breaking a single block that's part of the floor.
9) Get the Clover from the wet fur cave.
10) Kill Waddler and blow up the ceiling.
11) Get your teleporter and line yourself up with the destroyed block in the Moai. Teleport up to teleport 8 blocks + 3 from the vertical save mechanic to make it exactly into the Moai.
12) Wake up the Eggplant Child (and give them your Teleporter if that's what you used)
13) Die. You will use the Ankh and be brought back to the entrance of the level.
14) Leave the level, and the Eggplant Child will follow you into Neo Babylon 6-1.
15) Get Qilin if you got the Tablet from Abzu, or do Qilin Skip to make it to Sunken City 7-1.

I don‘t understand where you Need the rolling stone or the Alien gun for? Just teleportiert into the cave with the teleporter and the three up rule, if wadlers Cave ich placed lucky. Also: you can Not Go to the cosmic ocean anymore because waddler is Not there anymore to Carry your items.

@@killskill9391 In this case, he rolling stoned the alien gun so that the explosion might cause some of the tiles below on the other side to get destroyed, since plasma cannon blows up at the same power as a bomb with powerpack(more radius). This was all so that he could make sure his teleport upwards is a bit safer. The tile gap he could've bridged was 11, and I think he did have the leeway of the 1 extra tile he blew on the other side, but if the Moai spawned a bit higher, this move could've saved his attempt.

One of the patches made it so plasma cannon explodes when crushed. Also apparently cloning and picking up an idol in ice caves summons the boulder again, which is used to crush the plasma cannon and blow up tiles in the back layer of the Moai head (through the closed entryway somehow?).
The leaf clover guarantees maximum teleporter range allowing to get into the eggplant child room without any risk of telefragging by teleporting from the top of the Waddler room.
Honestly the routing in this video is awe inspiring.

You need a present box and a Kali altar to spawn on the same floor and take it all the way to ice cavern. Plasma cannon, Ankh, Clone Gun, Waddler are all guaranteed every run.

I think, not sure, it's more a cloned idol clones the trap, so other traps *could* be cloned but either its just not useful or this bolder trap has something weird that makes only it get cloned with it's idol

Cloning an idol clones the boulder trap too. Explosions can pass through locked doors without opening them.

it started by noticing that waddler was *almost* close enough to theoretically teleport into the moai, which would be much more consistent than hoping for a vault (1/3 vs roughly 1/15) - however, the teleport fell one tile short. I know that bombs go through doors, and I tried and determined that bombs go through the moai door, but it wasn't initially useful, until I tried a larger bomb, which *was* useful and made it just barely possible to get into the moai. Before today's patch, I knew of 3 methods: powerpack, mech, and bomb box.
Yesterday, PolygonKeeby happened to mention that you could summon another boulder Ice Caves by cloning and activating a second idol, so that was on my mind when I saw the patch notes today that plasma cannons now create a large explosion when crushed. The two thoughts combined in my head, some routing filled in the gaps, and this monstrosity of a strategy was born

Well it boils down to “how can we teleport inside the eggplant chamber?” Because that is the only way to open the chamber without the eggplant sacrifice. It is easy to do when a vault is nearby but it is RNG based whether or not it spawns. So, a lot of players are trying to come up with solutions and this was one way.

It's 6 blocks from the right of the level, 5 blocks from the left, or 15 from the left/16 from the right. It's random but can be checked pretty easily especially if you have the jetpack but Vlad's cape + climbing gloves should also work pretty well. It is random and will only spawn in one of those locations but I believe the one on the right is the most common.

The PC explosion is bigger than average, and a boulder (and theoretically a pushblock if you were incredibly lucky) seems like the only way to explode it

Explosions pass through doors. A normal bomb explosion isn't big enough for what is being achieved here, but the explosion of a plasma cannon is enough to break the ground in the eggplant room so that the teleporter can reach.

the larger explosion from the plasma cannon breaks a tile inside the moai to make this possible. this can also be done with a powerpack, a bomb box, or a mech. mech is the most likely to happen in an actual run imo, but people do take powerpack teleporter builds to ice caves sometimes because of this skip

the teleporter works like this: if you are going to teleport into a block, it will try to save you by moving you up, max 3 blocks above the original destination. they exploited this to get into the moai room, but cannot get back since it can only save you by moving you up.

The only thing fishy here is the second boulder. In theory, it shouldn't trigger again just because there's another idol, otherwise the rest is totally legit. I imagine you could get the same effect with a push block crushing the plasma cannon, but that's never going to happen lol

If the teleporter would place you in a wall, it places you in a safe space if there is one in the 3 blocks directly above. Therefore, teleporters reach further up than down.
